Oceanaire Seafood Room - Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was very good. The food and service were excellent. The parking was horrible. It took a long time to drop off the car and it took at least a half hour, 30 minutes, to get the car when we were finished. The system was disorganized and very concerning.
Although I am a Balto. native, I had not heard of or tried dining at The Oceanaire. I generally agree with all of the positive reviews, and I somewhat agree with a few of the negative reviews which mostly centered around the overall menu prices. The restaurant is beautiful inside, and is located in a fine section of south Balto., which is only a mile or so (as the crow flies) from the Inner Harbor. They have an extensive menu selection, and I started off with fried calamari (which my date and I split, because it was a large single portion), before choosing the rockfish entree (regular, not chef special) and included a few scallops (a little under-cooked), and a layer of backfin crabmeat on top (which would really have been special if it had been crab imperial). The entree also included a large dollop of mashed potatoes, and I chose a nice greens salad as my second veggie. My date selected a similar entree combination, but hers was the succulent Sea Bass as the fish. I followed up the calamari entree with a small cup of the excellent Lobster Bisque (some of the best that I ever tasted) before the main dish arrived. We did not elect to have any cocktails or dessert, but the stated meal above exceeded $200/minus tip (not intended for the faint of heart)! The total was reduced when a sub-par hash browns side dish was removed). What stood out the most was our wonderful and engaging waiter "Charlie" who truly made the experience special! All in all, the V-Day was enjoyable, and I would recommend the restaurant to all, but make sure that you are ready to pay the higher prices for this special restaurant. It is obviously not a place that I would frequent a lot, but it is truly a special place with great food, outstanding service, great atmosphere, reasonable valet parking, and extensive entree selections that will surely impress! And, if you happen to go,...make sure to ask for "Charlie", whose excellent and attentive service was noteworthy and greatly appreciated!
This has been one of our favourite restaurants for a number of years when we are in need of a white-table-cloth dinner that's special but not demanding. Though a bit pricey, you get what you pay for; the food is superb (the brussels sprouts are to die for!), the wait staff is professional and attentive without hovering and they are very knowledgeable when questioned about the food and drink. The atmosphere is excellent and quiet. The maitre d is extremely helpful. What more can I say? Love this place.
I have nothing negative to say. The sinning experience was wonderful. Our waiter Charlie was the absolute best. He was funny, personable yet professional, knowledgeable, hospitable etc. I could on and on about Charlie. Overall our dining experience was stellar. We will definitely dine here again & recommend our friends.
This place is amazing and service was wonderful. It was my moms birthday they printed a menu with her name on it. (The chef changes the menu everyday with his specials for the day on it ) the drinks were good the waiter kept making different specialty drinks and they were so good. Great people and great atmosphere ♥️ Will recommend and go back!!
Went here for Restaurant Week. Sadly, they had a different pre fixe menu from items on their regular menu. The pork chops were over cooked and drowned in a bacon sauce. Otherwise, they were flavorless. The shrimp and grits were good according to my friend. Appetizers were so so and so were the desserts except for the key lime pie. The ambience was just ok. The restaurant is chopped up into different areas. Overall, I was highly disappointed!
The serving staff was impatient throughout our meal, especially near the end. He never asked us when we were ready for anything. Taking too long? Brings us to-go containers. Then immediately brings us the check with no signal whatsoever to do so while constantly interrupting conversation. At the beginning, it was hard to wave him down and he went by our table five times before he successfully saw me, aka he does not glance at our table until it is check time.
We love The Oceannaire Seafood Room and we always go... during Restaurant Week. Truthfully, it's far beyond a reasonable budget for us the rest of the year and there are so many good restaurant choices, it doesn't stand out enough to make it worth saving up for the very expensive menu. That said, we are there each year for that price fixed menu! The food is quite good and we really enjoyed the sliced pear mule cocktails, but what keeps us looking forward to it each year is always the fantastic service. Their staff is top notch and whether we are eating from the Restaurant Week menu or paying the full price, you are the most important person they have seen all day. And maybe that's how you "get what you pay for" there, because if we could afford it, they would keep us coming back all year round.
Receptionist was unfriendly and rude. As he was asking my boyfriend about our reservation, he was arrogant in saying we don’t have any reservations. My BF even spelled out my name and he said there’s none. We opted to ask if there’s then an availability for a dinner for two and he again rudely replied “we are booked” with an attitude.
Apparently just before I interceded, he found our reservation by spelling out and saying my name wrong. And he never apologized.
The restaurant is lovely and food is good, but not great. I ordered the whole Bronzino which is my favorite fish. The waitress insisted on deboning the fish and she completely ruined it. There were lots of bones left in the fish and she piled the flesh into a clump in the middle of the plate. It was a mess. I couldn't even eat it. Very disappointing experience.
