I called to move our reservation out 30 minutes to 7pm around 530pm and they moved it fine. When we got there it had been raining throughout the day and they said the terrace was closed and we would have to go on the waitlist for a different level. Not sure why when I called at 530pm to move my reservation they didn't explain that the terrace was in fact closed..
It was a beautiful day in La Jolla. The terrace view was wonderful. Great service and food. The only item of inconvenience was the ladies restroom wast three floors down. No elevator. The stairs from the main level to the bottom level very dark and hard to see the steps. Other than that inconvenience we will definitely dine there again.
George’s has a terrific staff and a wonderful menu sure to impress anyone.
Always a favorite spot while in California.
George's is absolutely wonderful!! I highly recommend the rooftop outdoor seating.
One of my favorite, if not my favorite spots in San Diego; never disappointing!
Went with a friend for a lunch on Saturday afternoon. We arrived a few minutes late and the kitchen closes at 330 and doesn’t open again till 430, so we just ordered ceviche and fries so we would inconvenience the kitchen. They was hardly any fish in the ceviche. It was more like a bowl of pico de gallo with a few little pieces of fish here and there. It was hardly worth paying $16 for. The fries were super yummy and so was the chipotle aioli the server recommended. Drinks we pricey and underwhelming, if I return I think I’ll stick to wine. The ocean view is stunning and the reason we went. We asked the server if we could move to an open table closer to the glass so we could have an unobstructed view for the remainder of our cocktails. Considering they wouldn’t be seating for another hour it didn’t seem like it should be an issue. She went to check with someone and returned to inform us we could not move. That was really disappointing. We then finished our first drink and left to another spot.
Wanted to hav seat near the wall but we didn’t got the opportunity though we made an advance reservation. But food, drinks & ambience was on the point & we enjoyed our time there
Beautiful setting on a clear sunny day. We enjoyed lunch here. Ate here several years ago and it was such a memorable experience that we decided to try it again on a return visit to La Jolla. It did not disappoint.
We had out of town guests so needed a view restaurant with a good vibe. George’s roof top is the perfect spot. Impressive views of the ocean with casual fresh menu, and good vibe. Enjoyed octopus as appetizer, followed by fish tacos, clam pasta and mahi mahi. Every meal was delicious. Sticky bun with ice cream was the perfect finishing touch. Definitely schedule your reservation to see the sunset.
Best lobster roll I’ve ever had (including in Cape Cod) staff is over the top friendly. Million dollar view and the sun and surf!
Sarah our server was excellent and gave us plenty of time to make our choices. She had time to chat with us about the food and beverages. The ambiance was superb and the food was excellent. Loved it.
The location was amazing. The view were great although in February the sun sets behind the location. The wait stuff was okay. Wine was okay but not great. The food disappointing for the money. Would not go back.
We dined outside on the upper level. Beautiful setting and a great view of the La Jolla Cove. A very nice and quite atmosphere. We had an outstanding server - Jeremiah. He gave excellent recommendations and service. He should conduct a classes teaching others to be personable and give perfect service. The food was delicious, fresh, and hot. They have a nice beer and wine menu.
Great food and awesome location! It was my Mom's birthday and the waiter indicated he was going to bring dessert, but he never did. Unfortunate because that would have been a nice "cherry on top" addition.
Still a great experience.
Very nice table they put us at for my birthday. I left my bottle of olive oil they gave me, returned to get it and the hostage and they were gone, no more there. Oh well!
I love dining her for anniversary dinners. The breeze and view cannot be topped. Go with your first instinct on the food. I've tasted the pasta that was better than the salmon and steak. It's all incredible.
Awesome food and even better views!
It was ok, but not worth what we spent. We arrived early for our reservation - and were required to psit by the entrance for about 15 minutes while there were empty tables all around. Food was tasty (not exceptional as expected) but service was appallingly slow...had to chase down our server a number of times - and finally had to grab another server to pay our bill.
Hello and thank you for letting us know about your experience. I'm sorry to hear that it was anything less than outstanding. I don't think your experience was typical however and I hope you give us another opportunity to prove that to you. I would love to hear from you directly; please call me at 858-454-4244. Respectfully, Mike GM- George's Ocean Terrace
You can’t beat the view and the service is amazing. The food and drinks are fab. You won’t regret eating here.
We ate on dinner on the terrace on a beautiful evening in La Jolla. The view of the ocean was nice. The food was delicious.
Beautiful views, great food, and wonderful staff.
My family and I went there for a special occasion and we loved it. We had the Lobster sandwich and it was incredible. The view was spectacular, I would definitely recommend this place.
Experience was great but sadly the waiter seemed annoyed or maybe just didn’t like us. Might of been having an off day but just expected a little bit of warmth or friendliness.
Everything about this place is outstanding. The view, the food, the service. Impeccable. I love that they have blankets in addition to heat lamps, to keep you nice and toasty. If you have fussy eaters in your group, note that you can get the lunch burger at dinner (and my son reports that the plain pasta with parm is perfect).
A beautiful, scenic restaurant with high quality food options. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely place to view the sunset from the Terrace. Food was amazing and inventive, service was fast, friendly and efficient. The open air of the terrace is so refreshing. The fish tacos were fantastic, the soup of the day was black bean, chicken, and broccoli...probably the BEST soup I’ve ever eaten. The child’s menu is wonderful. Highly recommended!
Waiter oversold us on way too much food! He kept prompting us to order more. Normally you don’t order an appetizer for every single person in a party.
Ambiance and food were great! Had high expectations for Valentine's Day dinner and they met them. Great on house ceviche.
Never disappointed here, food was great as usual, atmosphere and vibe was great, value was great, our sever was great. Perfect Valentines evening.
We came here for dinner on Valentine’s Day and were underwhelmed, however, our waiter was wonderful.
This place just isn’t worth the hype - even with the great view. Take your money elsewhere!
One of my favorite date night spots in San Diego. We’ve celebrated a birthday and Valentine’s Day here and they never disappoint. Delicious food, beautiful view, great service and they even have blankets to loan you when it’s cold outside.
THE BEST!!! Must try the soup!
Fantastic service, delicious food wonderfully presented and picturesque views
Great food, excellent service, outstanding views. Very nice way to celebrate my birthday.
The service was surprisingly slow when we came to this restaurant. It took a long time to get drinks and food ordered and served. Was honestly shocked after reading such good reviews about this restaurant. Was not very impressed.
The service was sooooo lousy. It took 45 mins for two drinks to come out and it wasn’t even that busy. It was outrageously expensive for how long it took to her two drinks with a waiter. Beautiful setting but I’d think twice about coming back for the price and the service
