Overall we really did enjoy our experience but the initial service was a bit slow (improved once order was taken) and the food was “good” when we expected “wow!”
Great view ( if you get there in time to request a table nearest the water but even with a reservation these tables are first come first served, reservation or not.)

Our service was friendly but rushed (trying to take plates when we were still chewing, trying to take our wine glasses away with a third of the glass still full, etc) so we kept having to bat them away and say, no we are still working on it! With that said, the food was fantastic and the ambiance is really cool. Would definitely come back.

Our friends recommended eating here while visiting San Diego to have a great view while eating when the sun is up. It was a fabulous view. We got seats next to the glass rail overlooking La Jolla Cove/park area.

Food: The fish sandwich was great and flavored really well. The tacos were just okay, I probably wouldn't order them next time because the tortilla was breaking apart and it was messy to eat.

Drinks: My husband really enjoyed the Bloody Mary and ordered 2 of them. The spice and flavors were good. Don't expect any fancy toppings though. They also have a good selection of draft beers (some local) and a large wine selection.

Parking: Street parking, free for 2 hours if you can snag a spot. Otherwise you'll be driving around for a while.

Visiting the San Diego area, and we went the George's on the Cove - Ocean Terrace at the recommendation of 2 separate friends so we hopeful for our evening - we were sorely disappointed as the food was below par and it was expensive.

There are 3 levels to Georges and we opted for the top terrace with outdoor seating. More relaxed of an environment which is our style. Place was what I expected as far as atmosphere. It was dark out so we could not see the ocean but that is OK. Seated promptly, service was very good - no complaints there.
We were celebrating our anniversary and the restaurant gave us each a glass of champagne and one complimentary dessert-These were nice touches.

2 of us shared everything, so the restaurant split the plates which was unexpected and appreciated. Fish tacos were good. Mussels were not tasty and there may have been 1-2 bad ones in the batch. We opted not to finish these. The crusty bread that came with them was good. We had a Caesar Salad which was OK, nothing special but not awful. The main course we shared was the Potato Gnocchi with shrimp, sausage, corn and tomatoes. The best tasting thing on the plate was the corn. Gnocchi were soft but both they and the very, very small shrimp lacked any flavor. The dish was exceptionally bland. At $26 we expected more taste. Dessert was fine - choc lava cake and apple crumble. At $12 each the choc cake was tasty and an ok value; the apple crumble was small for the price (with a scoop of ice cream), but it tasted good.

So overall I would not recommend this location of George's on the Cove for the food. Perhaps the downstairs would have been better, but we were not into spending $200+ for the evening - and it cost us over $100 for our not so great meal. If we are back in the area, next time maybe just drinks during the day for the view, and elsewhere for the meal.

I showed up on time for our reservation but because the other party had not yet arrived the hostess would not seat me. So I had to wonder around until she arrived. . Bench seating for waiting was in the sun so that wouldn’t work for me. I was not pleased. Very poor form. I have to say, I’ve never been treated so poorly in a restaurant. The House Rules for seating are off-putting. However the wait staff was 5 star and the food was ok. I had the shrimp tacos. The fried shrimp was over cooked and hard with no flavor at all. Dessert was delicious. I had the warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream. The iced tea was freshly brewed and refills kept coming. Despite this, I won’t go back... ever.

Good but not as good as previous visits.
Calamari starter was quite tough
Lovely staff but not many fish dishes on main menu in reality
Compared to Eddie V s I think I preferred Eddies.

Great food and views, as expected. But the service was pretty tragic. First, the hostess wouldn’t seat us until the rest of our party arrived (even though we had a res and there were plenty of available tables). Then the waiter brought over the bottle of wine we ordered about 15 minutes after we ordered it, but he just set it on the table in a chiller and didn’t open it. For another ten minutes. What is that? At this point he had been running around and taking orders of people who had arrived after us. He finally took our order and the food came quickly, and was delicious. But, come on man.

Normally I love this place. However on this most recent visit, the sea lion smell was wafting up from the beach making the meal very unpleasant for me! I will probably check for this the next time I try to go here before settling on this spot.

Great place! The food was amazing and the service was very good. We loved the interior design of the place, but they could improve the rooftop seating area as it looks like a cafeteria at the moment and does not match the quality of the service and the food. Other than that, if we're ever back in La Jolla we'll definitely be back!

This was a wonderful restaurant to celebrate my sister’s bachelorette party. The service and food was outstanding and the view was so picturesque. They were so patient and genuine with helping me plan the evening. My only thought would be, we were seated at an inner table and it would have been wonderful to have been seated on the perimeter to get an even closer look at the sunset. I didn’t realize until after that I needed to request it when we arrived.

Can’t beat the views but the food and service aren’t as amazing. The service from the host was very good but then it took forever for our server to even stop by and tell us he would be right with us. The food is definitely above average but misses in some areas. The kids chicken strips were very dry. The fish sandwich was pretty solid tho. Lastly, the smell from La Jolla cove was pretty rough the day we were there but nothing they can do about that.

This is the fourth time I've visited the restaurant and the food was terrible. I ordered the Brie & Prosciutto panini and it was terrible. The meat was hard and overcooked and the sandwich was tasteless. My friend had the fish tacos and said that the fish tasted very unpleasant.
