The food wasn't what we expected and definitely wasn't worth the price. We just had appetizers and went somewhere else for dinner.

Poorly managed their reservations... we were sat at the back of the terrace by the kitchen. They had a table that was available the entire time we were there eating right in the front with an ocean view. We had asked, since it was my wifes birthday, if we could sit at the table and they indicated there was a reservation coming and being the table was for 6 people and we only had a party of 5 it was unavailable. Even though the table they sat us at back by the kitchen was for 6 people as well. Was very disappointing because we have gone here before and the experience was different. To sit at a table for the entire time we were there looking at that table was very frustrating!!! I've recommended this restaurant to others visiting from out of town however just not sure I will be giving it my same type of recommendation going forward. On positive thing.... our server was very good and very accommodating so no negative feedback regarding her just the management staff in charge of reservations.

Can't beat the view. Service was good. Food for price, mediocre at best. Margarita wasn't very good. Can make a better one at home. Would come back though to take in view at sunset, and have a glass of wine.

A big group of us got together (some from out of town too!) to celebrate 2 major birthdays! We loved everything about George’s - the view, the service, the wine, and the food. We only had one hiccup with the hostess. She was a young girl, very pretty, and she was very rude to us when we first walked in and then again later when we asked where the restroom was. She was not welcoming, was on her phone and was very short with us. Compared to the other wonderful staff we had serve us and the beautiful view, these interactions were disappointing. Other than that, everything was incredible and we will be back!

Beware! Locals take priority despite everyone paying for the same service! Be weary of reservations, especially for any significant events!

We are longtime patrons of George's (dating back to the mid-1990s). My wife and I had our wedding reception at George's in 2009, and have referred countless friends and family over the years.

We made a reservation to celebrate our 10 year anniversary while we were visiting on June 25. Our reservation requested ocean side seating, if available. On the morning of our reservation, we spoke with a representative of George's to confirm our reservation and seating request. We were informed that our request would be honored if possible, but that George's policy requires that all seating requests be addressed on a "first come, first served" basis, which is understandable and absolutely fair.

When we arrived shortly after 11:00 for our 11:15 reservation, we were immediately ushered to a table in the rear corner of the Ocean Terrace (ironically, as far from the ocean side seating as is possible). We kindly requested to be seated in an open table abutting the glass per our reservation and the representative's instruction that seating was issued on a first come, first served basis. We were told that the table was being reserved for a party that was celebrating a 4 year anniversary, and that our request couldn't be honored. I told them that we too were there for an important milestone, had requested the table, and were the first to arrive. The manager scoffed at our request and acted very inconvenienced. When we asked her what happened to the "first come, first served" policy that we were informed about, she offered to "study the system" to see if our request could be honored.

After the "chosen" party failed to arrive by 11:45, a walk-in party was seated at the table we had originally requested. The above may seem petty, but the way we were treated by the hostess and the manager was appalling for an establishment of this caliber.

We always go to George’s Ocean Terrace every visit to La Jolla/San Diego. 1-2 times per year. Vacations from Arizona. The best view, food, cocktails and knowledgeable service. Excellent.

Food was okay, the best thing we had was the hummus appetizer. It was very thoughtfully put together and every component was delicious. A little disappointed in the fish tacos since they had so many good reviews. A little bland. The pasta was well cooked. Nice selection of bourbon and my daughter loved the summer soda. It was cloudy, but we still enjoyed the view of the water and the sea lions playing.

Sat outside at the top-floor overlooking the ocean.
Even though there was some June gloom (white skies) it was still nice to be outside and looking at the water.
Staff is nice and I’m sure they have to tolerate a demanding and conceited crowd (lots of 50-something women recut to look 30-something) all crammed into tiny Lululemon outfits or other designer fashions.

Enough about LaJolla. Out servers were great and attentive. We had a big group - 8-10 people — and they did a terrific job giving us quick and attentive service. We didn’t feel like a big group because service was so good.

Food was terrific - is definitely return.

One of the meals in our party had to be sent back. 3 meals before it was right. 3 others in the party were finished eating by the time the 4th meal came. The manager finally came over and apologized and gave us one free corkage and that person's dish free.

Besides that , the food was good and we enjoyed the view.

We had lunch on the roof terrace on a beautiful day and it was quite nice after they reluctantly let our party of 6 move to a corner round table when it became available before our food was delivered . We had requested a round table as our preference but admittedly they couldn’t guarantee it. Then the hostess who is not very pleasant or personable but quite good of advising us of their “rule” they you cannot switch tables once your food is ordered and that she wouldn’t give us the table we had requested anyway because she was “saving” it for a party of 8 who hadn’t arrived yet. A bit inconsistent with their inability to reserve a particular table when you make a reservation. Finally, after talking to Michael the manager he apologized and quickly arranged to move us to the table we had originally requested. The food, service sand ambiance is superb but for the “rules.” Try to get a table near the view because the middle tables are a bit squeezed and rather noisy but the price is the same.

We enjoyed breathtaking views during our 2 hour meal. We ate the grilled octopus, burrata cheese, house soup, and ceviche for starters and were impressed!! The soup is super creamy and satisfying! The burrata cheese was super moist and creamy and the baguettes were a perfect medium to enjoy it! The ceviche was generous and delicious! My entree of marinated skirt steak was the best thing ordered all night! The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavor. We also had the oven roasted chicken which was flavorful and well cooked too. We ended with the Sticky Toffee cake and chocolate cake, both served with ice cream! We will return!! 👏🥮

We have been there many times, but this Mother's Day our service was very poor. Sitting at our table for 30 minutes before anyone came by at all. I got up to ask for service. Ordered drinks, took 25 minutes for our cocktail order to be delivered. And it went on that way. We were a late reservation and the terrace wasn't even that busy. A number of open tables and the bar wasn't packed. Don't know why they struggled so, but we were all disappointed in our Mother's Day experience.
