Ocean Terrace - George's at the Cove
Another great meal. Had the halibut. It was outstanding. I have tried to duplicate it at home for years with no success. I guess I just have to fly cross country yo get my halibut fix!!!
On a Sunday Father's Day, I sure wish they served brunch through 1PM or later. It was a lunch Menu at 1130AM, and not a very great one either. The service was great. The view can't be beat.
Best view in the cove and the funnest place to supp reasonable prices too
We enjoyed our dinner and would recommend it as a "must go to place" when you are in La Jolla.
Sat outside at the top-floor overlooking the ocean.
Even though there was some June gloom (white skies) it was still nice to be outside and looking at the water.
Staff is nice and I’m sure they have to tolerate a demanding and conceited crowd (lots of 50-something women recut to look 30-something) all crammed into tiny Lululemon outfits or other designer fashions.
Enough about LaJolla. Out servers were great and attentive. We had a big group - 8-10 people — and they did a terrific job giving us quick and attentive service. We didn’t feel like a big group because service was so good.
Food was terrific - is definitely return.
Love this place! Good food with a beautiful ocean view. Came here a couple of times but will definitely come back again!
One of the meals in our party had to be sent back. 3 meals before it was right. 3 others in the party were finished eating by the time the 4th meal came. The manager finally came over and apologized and gave us one free corkage and that person's dish free.
Besides that , the food was good and we enjoyed the view.
The hostess was rude and wouldn’t accommodate our requests
I always enjoy this place. Good menu, incredible view and good service.
Always a show stopper for my out of town guests!! Bravo.
College graduation celebration, and the perfect coda to a wonderful week with family and friends. All the years we have been coming here (birthdays, anniversaries, sunsets), Georgie’s NEVER disappoints in food, drink, and circuses. Bravo and thank you for your undying commitment to understated excellence and fun.

They ran out of the Impossible burger, but our food came out fast. Stunning ambiance! Love bringing out of town guests here!
Very nice view of lajolla's cove. Enjoyed the outdoor experience.
We had lunch on the roof terrace on a beautiful day and it was quite nice after they reluctantly let our party of 6 move to a corner round table when it became available before our food was delivered . We had requested a round table as our preference but admittedly they couldn’t guarantee it. Then the hostess who is not very pleasant or personable but quite good of advising us of their “rule” they you cannot switch tables once your food is ordered and that she wouldn’t give us the table we had requested anyway because she was “saving” it for a party of 8 who hadn’t arrived yet. A bit inconsistent with their inability to reserve a particular table when you make a reservation. Finally, after talking to Michael the manager he apologized and quickly arranged to move us to the table we had originally requested. The food, service sand ambiance is superb but for the “rules.” Try to get a table near the view because the middle tables are a bit squeezed and rather noisy but the price is the same.
Our only issue was that we did not get seated until 8:40 with an 8:00 reservation.
We enjoyed breathtaking views during our 2 hour meal. We ate the grilled octopus, burrata cheese, house soup, and ceviche for starters and were impressed!! The soup is super creamy and satisfying! The burrata cheese was super moist and creamy and the baguettes were a perfect medium to enjoy it! The ceviche was generous and delicious! My entree of marinated skirt steak was the best thing ordered all night! The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavor. We also had the oven roasted chicken which was flavorful and well cooked too. We ended with the Sticky Toffee cake and chocolate cake, both served with ice cream! We will return!! 👏🥮
The view of the sunset and la jolla was the reason we chose this restaurant. The drinks were good and made perfectly. Food was good, and service was exceptional.
We chose the gorgeous al fresco setting option over looking La Jolla Cove. Delicious food and drinks. Easy to hold conversations. Recommend highly for either work or social gatherings!
Mother’s Day. They honored our request for the Oceanside table. Great restaurant! Awesome views!
We have been there many times, but this Mother's Day our service was very poor. Sitting at our table for 30 minutes before anyone came by at all. I got up to ask for service. Ordered drinks, took 25 minutes for our cocktail order to be delivered. And it went on that way. We were a late reservation and the terrace wasn't even that busy. A number of open tables and the bar wasn't packed. Don't know why they struggled so, but we were all disappointed in our Mother's Day experience.
Hi GoSuns, I apologize for your recent poor experience. I would like to hear more about it so that we can try to figure out what happened and correct the underlying problem. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we did. I look forward to hearing from you. (858) 454-4244. Respectfully, Mike GM- George's Ocean Terrace
It was awesome. Terrific views of the ocean, wonderful food and great service!!
My girlfriend and I were visiting from out of state and went to George's for our anniversary dinner. We had a truly exceptional experience. We were seated right close to the ocean of the rooftop restaurant, so we had a spectacular view of the sunset. Due to jet lag out appetites were a bit thrown off, so we ended up splitting an appetizer, entree, and dessert rather than getting two separate entrees. George's accommodated us and ending up plating everything separately so we could easily share and still enjoy their beautiful plating. The appetizer and dessert were solid, but the main entree (the Kalbi Skirt Steak) was really incredible. It was cooked perfectly and everything bite was such a treat. It was the best meal of our whole trip. I'm still thinking about those Nori Onion Rings. I can't recommend George's enough. Whether for a special occasion or an average dinner I think you'll have a wonderful experience. For our anniversary they really went out of the way to make it extra special for us and I'm so grateful. (Don't worry we gave a very good tip to compensate for not ordering two entrees)
Great spot for dinner at sunset. Excellent wine list and menu. We come back whenever we visit San Diego.
Steaks were a little over cooked. I think it was too charred for medium.
Celebrating two Birthdays
Great atmosphere and views from the terrace. Food is very good.
Rebecca and her team took very good care of us. The food was phenomenal! The drinks were great. That all sounds amazing right? Well the views of the ocean and of the La Jolla cove were just as amazing! Overall, highly recommend!!!
Fantastic experience. Wonderful sunset views and outstanding food and service. One of our favorite restaurants!
Very lovely place, food was good and cocktails perfect. Beer selection would have been good to have some European on the menu
Everything was good, especially being able to obtain a reservation.
Great view but was quite underwhelmed by the menu. Didn’t deliver on price vs value
Amazing view and very good food. Service was also exceptional
Every time I eat at George's Ocean Terrace I am treated with excellent food and service! And the view is to die for! It's one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. Don't miss the famous Chicken and Black Bean Soup...it's amazing!
Great service, nice view over the cove to watch the sunset. Very romantic.
Jeremiah was our server and he was OUTSTANDING
My 91 yr old father in law was in town and had a wonderful experience
We had a lovely Easter lunch. Had a great view of the ocean. The food was good and the service was outstanding.
The burgers and fries looked very pedestrian for the money charged... but the weather was nice and the view was beautiful. I'll suggest a drink there first at sunset, and dinner at a real restaurant after.
Yes, you should order the Tombo. It is as good as they say!
