Ocean Prime - Washington D.C.
We absolutely enjoyed every moment of our dinner from the prompt setting upon entering, the seating, our waiter and all the staff was pleasant. The bread, scallops, to the bread pudding was absolutely delicious. They also offer wine bottle half off on sunday..we will be going again.
First time at Ocean prime meal was excellent will do again
Bryan was amazing! He was so nice and funny! The food is always good. The new lobster Mac and cheese recipe wasn’t the best but I did enjoy it. I think it’s too cheesy!
Perfectly cooked steak. Impeccable service.
Fantastic server and delicious food. It was a great dining experience.
I was impressed by all of the staff at Ocean Prime. My family was treated like special guests there. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Great restaurant week menu. The food was even better than expected (I already had high hopes beforehand). A little expensive ordinarily but the restaurant week prices were a good deal.
Service was terrific. However, the meal was mediocre. I dine out often and I am accustomed to paying a high price for a good meal. However, this was high priced for an average meal: nothing special.
The valet has a terrible attitude. The greeters that take your name for tables has a horrible attitude and despite me making an reservation a month prior to the date i still had to wait over 30 min to be seated.
Amazing food as always. We love Ocean Prime. Will come again .
This restaurant was highly recommended to me. The service, food, and drinks were amazing. I can't wait to return to this establishment!
Our waiter William was excellent and the food was amazing!
Me and my boyfriend celebrated our anniversary here this last Friday it was amazing everything was great down to our dinner and dessert we will definitely be back!
Great menu choices! Loved the ambiance and waiter was knowledgeable of menu. Great service!
Outstanding service! The food was absolutely delicious!
The Food was excellent! Great variety to choose from!! Even had a kid friendly Junior Adult Menu!
Everything was good went for my bday Goodman Owen waiter knew everything on the menu explained it to a T
I went to this restaurant for restaurant week and the service was terrible. 3 hours for two people, 2 drinks, 1 app, and 2 restaurant week meals. It was a busy evening and we arrived early for our reservation. We had to wait, but that was expected. After a short wait we were promptly seated. We were promptly offered water and our waiter arrived a few minutes after. He took our drink order and then returned to take our full order. It was a wait for the drinks, which was expected, an extended wait for the appetizer and all of the courses. It took 30 mins to get a scoop of ice cream and 45 to get the cinnamon bun bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream on the side. The reason for the extended delay, I asked the waiter for my scoop of ice cream on the side. The first set of desserts were 2 bread puddings with ice cream on top. I explained that that was not what we ordered as my brother only wanted a scoop of ice cream. The second set of desserts had ice cream on top of the bread pudding again and a slice of carrot cake. The third set of dessert finally had the scoop of ice cream that my brother asked for but again the ice cream was on top of the bread pudding, the fourth time I had it packed to go. They forgot the lobster Mac & cheese so we had that to go too. I spoke with the manager as it took 2 hours to get our main meal and at that time we still had not received our desserts yet. His response was that the restaurant was packed so that we should expect a wait for our food, but that he would comp some of the items on our bill. After he left our table the dessert was brought out wrong for the third time. When he returned with the item comped bill, my brother noticed that we had been charged full price for the restaurant week entree even though all of the other aspects of the 3 course meal were billed at restaurant week price. We called the waiter back and he returned with the correct bill. We paid and left. We definitely won’t be back.
We dined here on 1/16/20 for Mom’s birthday, which happened to be during Restaurant Week. Delicious food with just right-sized portions, but the service left a lot to be desired. There were very long gaps between courses. They ran out of dessert spoons, so we ate dessert with soup spoons. One of the spoons had to be replaced because it still had stuck-on food from a previous diner.
I’ve been to Ocean Prime in other cities, but this experience dissuades me from revisiting the one in my backyard.
I went here during restaurant week. So of course it would be more crowded......had to wait a bit even though we had reservations. We waited at the bar. The drinks are awesome but expensive. Happy hour ends at 6:30......who ends a happy hour at 6:30 instead of 7! The food was great, can't beat $35 for a three course meal!
My filet was perfect!!!!!!!!!!!! Service was excellent
Visited during restaurant week. Service was amazing, food was just ok. Wine list amazing.
I had a valid $50 dollar gift card, the manager said that the gift card was fraudulent. I insisted him to check the balance of the giftcard in their website, he refused. Didn't expect this poor service at a fine dining establishment like Ocean Prime.
Spectacular meal -- with service on point. Steak done to perfection, lovely atmosphere for conversation. Generous sized table -- no scrunching. Lovely wine. The stuff memories are made of.
Service was Exceptional, i felt very relaxed and taken care of! Also food came out in a very timely manner and was delicious.
Kyle was phenomenal I had the Scallops which were cooked to perfection and my date had the Sea Bass that was flavorful, flaky and exquisitely seasoned. Fourth time I have been there and although having dined around the world still find this to be one of the best!!
Took too long to be seated.
Waiter was not very attentive.
Price was exorbitant
Thank you for a great night out! Everything was perfect, especially the service. Our server Edwin was incredibly knowledgeable about every item on the menu and his passion for food was apparent including the wine as well. The food was superb. The whole evening was a great treat.
Phenomenal experience food was mind blowing a few of my guests were first time diners here and they were blown away great for business meetings even better for pleasure I could eat here every day. Our server Edwin was phenomenal he provided the quintessential dining experience.
Great food and service. Lucky the visit was during the holidays because we were able to a reservation at a decent time.
To be totally candid this was one of the nicest, most enjoyable dining experiences we have ever had. A large part of that is due to our server, Owen, who must be the gold standard of servers in fine dining restaurants. Every aspect of his service was fantastic, great personality to boot. We were pretty much settled on the pre theatre menu but that was before Owen apprised us of what the specials for the day were. My wife opted for the Chilean sea bass, which was presented beautifully and tasted even better. I had an Italian beef filet mignon and it was as good as any wagu I have had anywhere. Because they use the Coravin system you can buy any wine by the glass, and Owen made the perfect suggestion to accompany my ultra low, as in zero, fat filet. Before dinner I had the French Onion soup, which was amazing, accompanied by a Belvedere vodka Gibson which Owen shook at the table and poured fresh. From start to finish everything was wonderful, service, atmosphere, food. We had eaten at the Ocean Prime in Phillie, and it was very good, but the DC version is really top notch. And again, a lot of that is due to Owen, the super server! Certainly not free, but at this level what does one expect? You get what you pay for.
Lovely dinner! The service and food were first rate. The filet and shrimp I had as part of the theater menu were excellent. The salad and truffle Mac side were also tasty and well prepared. My dining partner’s fish entree was perfectly prepared as well. The only complaint is the beverage prices. $17 for a glass common normally mid-priced Pinot Noir is a bit much from my point of view.
Average service. Excellent food. Music was too loud.
The hostesses were not very nice. Especially the one checking everyone into the system. Her demeanor was off putting. When I checked in she told me there would be a 40 min wait, even though I had a reservation. I told her I would be at the bar waiting. Over 40 mins later she called to let me know my table was finally ready. I told her thanks, but I no longer need the table as I will be eating at the bar. She put me down as a no show.
We were there for NYE and had to sit in the bar area which we did not want to...we would
The meal, service and atmosphere made for a great Nee Year's Eve celebration. Ocean Prime doesn't disappoint.
Good food and service
Food and service at Ocean Prime were spot on. In fact, the service was the highlight of the evening. Staff that greeted us were very pleasant. Emanuel was our server. He was superb, friendly and so helpful when we had questions.
Be careful when ordering the crabmeat cocktail (appetizer) or crabcakes (entree). One taste and it's clear you're not eating Maryland blue crab.
Other appetizers were the house salad (delicious!) and lobster bisque (not quite enough sherry, but a generous amount of lobster).
Besides the crabcakes entree my husband ordered, we had an off-menu special: dry-aged Kansas City strip. I ordered that with sauteed onions (also not on the menu). I found it odd that, in a steakhouse, there were no onions offered as sides.
Where did the experience fall short of expectations? Seating. We made reservations months in advance and called on Dec 1 to confirm. Despite the advance work, we were seated in what seemed like the worst table in the house, at the end of the row, closest of all seating, to the kitchen.
For the first half of our meal, wait and bus staff audibly warned "corner!" directky behind us. That was a bit irritating, or so we thought. After a while, the warnings were abandoned. At that point, the first crash-bang dropping of dishes. Less than 20 minutes later, another huge crash and breaking of dishes again. Maybe that's why the back6music was so very loud.
Accidents happen. I get that. I assumed customers with advanced reservations would rate a table away from the very busy, very loud kitchen intersection.
Desserts: carrot cake and chocolate cake were great. We'd eaten so much, though, that neither of us could finish our desserts.
I don't think we've been there for the last time but we'll have to shake off this experience first.
Enjoyed the food and cocktails with my hubby and son on New Years Eve. Love the kid’s menu.
We came to try Ocean Prime on New year's Eve and it did NOT disappoint. The menu was well laid out and incorporated all gammets one would expect at a restaurant of this caliber and geography. The food presented well and was fresh and well seasoned. Our waiter was cost them a star on service as he left off two of the evenings specials as he reported to our table. We were able to overhear the missing two AFTER we'd ordered as they were reported to a nearby table with a different waiter. Prices are on the higher end but you get what you pay for, fresh and well prepared food. Overall a great experience and I would recommend as well as return to this location.
