Ocean Hai Restaurant - Wyndham Hotel
Caitlyn was wonderful
This is our second time to the Ocean Hai and things do not seem to improve. This visit was for a Valentine's Day sunset dinner. Reservations were made three weeks in advance. They were confirmed on OpenTable and by phone the day before. EACH time a request for a window seat was confirmed. We arrived exactly on time and no window seat was available. They confirmed that we had a note for this request. They tied to put us in a middle aisle table with heavy traffic. Eventually moving us to a booth three rows from any window. No window seat to see a beautiful sunset that night. The meal was from a fixed menu with wine pairings. For the money presentation was good, however the food was average. Each pairing was a pour of less than 3oz. To top it off the waiter was late each wine pairing for the course. We were at least half-way through each course before he was reminded by us to serve the wine. Best part was the dessert. The worst part was paying for an experience that was subpar.
This was our second Valentine's Day dinner at Ocean Hai. We sat outside and the view of Clearwater Beach was unbeatable. The sunset blazed with bright orange and pink. This year's prix fixe menu topped last year's with delicious heart of palm salad, oysters and sea bass. The chocolate heart-shaped dessert with layers of meringue, cookies and chocolate with gold flakes was a work of art!
The food was outstanding. The wine pairing was spot on too. Our server, Jordan, was attentive and engaging. Thank you for an excellent meal!
My wife and I dine here for an early Valentines dinner and had an exceptional time. Food was super fresh, along with great service. The ambience was refreshing as we viewed the Gulf waters crashing in on the shoreline. We ended the night with amazing dessert, with a surprise visit from their brilliant dessert chef, Hogan. We would definitely recommend others to visit this restaurant!!
Sushi is tolerable
Bowl with broth, I recommend not to order it.
It is out of standard. It is just a mixture of vegitable, wrong handled noodles and ridiculous broth
I wanna see chefs face, and wanna look inside his brain
Great ambience! Friendly receptionists and waiters! One of the perfect spots to enjoy sunsets. However the food is not up to par in my opinion. I eat authentic asian food on a daily basis and have been to several upscaled Asian fusion restaurants. Unfortunately we were not impressive at Ocean Hai but this is just us for one meal.
Food was delicious!
The service was phenomenal. The food was delicious and well presented. We did not wait very long in between each course of the meal. The staff were very tentative and respectful. Dessert is worth saving room for and was very delightful and artistic!
I thought the sauces were off and the lamb was very fatty. Very disappointing meal- the restaurant looked great but all I can say that was nice. Even the spring rolls were not that tasty.
Sushi was poor and wait staff was clueless Apps were not good either. Overpriced for what the food quality was. Will never go back.
This restaurant was listed as $ on open table, I thought it was more expensive than that. The food was good, but I thought it was pricey. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was delightful. Went there for dinner when we were staying in Clearwater Beach.
Def a special Occassion venue but the food was yummy!!!
Food was sub-par, except for sushi rolls.Nothing was seasoned properly, if at all. Disappointed because the presentation & atmosphere were pretty.
Dinner was awful. Filet was cold and they cut it open butterfly style to serve. I think they were going for presentation but it made the streak ice cold and totally ruined the whole thing. It also had no flavor so on top of being cold it was just totally disappointing. The rest of the plate was cold too with undercooked veggies and a cold purée of cauliflower . My pho bowl was also cold and veggies were way under cooked, chicken had such a heavy coating of breading or skin or batter on it that it did not mix well in the broth . My husbands ramen was missing the egg so they just brought one on the side. It looked so bad that he didn’t even add it. My wine was full of cork and at the price they charge you would think they could get at least that part right. Service was fine. The restaurant itself is nice, but I would never eat dinner there again. $200 for 2 adults and 2 kids to have a dinner that no one liked was a super bummer. 2 nights prior, we ate at a different restaurant up the street and their steak blew this one out of the water and was half the price. Would definitely suggest a hard pass on this place for dinner. It’s just overpriced hotel food in my opinion. We did however have breakfast at the same restaurant the morning prior and for that they did do a good job. Kids had the buffet and enjoyed it. I just had a fruit parfait but it was good and the setting on the patio was enjoyable. Breakfast/ good but for dinner, no way, pass this place for sure!
Great food and service !
The food and service started out great but went downhill as they got busier and my 44.00 steak was cold. Everyone else’s dishes were hot which tells me the kitchen needed more help.
We had a fantastic New Years Eve meal here including fantastic wine pairings. Everything from the delicious food to friendly service and celebratory atmosphere was just wonderful. Absolutely recommend!
The location in the Wyndham is fantastic. All four of us had different choices, ranging from the Mongolian Lamb, snapper and sushi rolls. All were very good. Lamb was ordered medium rare, but arrived very rare, ok for me, but not everyone. Shared 2 deserts. The giant fortune cookie was really special, but definitely large enough to share for2 or more. Service was rather slow, could have been more attentive, a little disappointing given the automatic 19% gratuity. Overall, would recommend and would definitely go here again.
Food was good but it came out slow but not a server issue ... bigger issue is they sat a table of 2 adults in the same section with families and kids. Blew the night ...
The brunch was excellent. Great variety of seafood, carving station, desserts, hot breakfast and entrees and salads. But, no croissants and bagels or cream cheese.
We had the "Omakase" tasting menu with paired wines. It was all totally delicious. Our waitress, Halle, was very friendly and a delight. It did take 3 hours, as each course was followed by a 10-15 minute wait, but it made for a whole evening's entertainment. We had eaten there once last year and were not happy - this year it was MUCH better.
Excellent food and service by Jordan...Sushi was good too...definitely going back there on our next visit
The place was not crowded at all on a Saturday night. We sat on the deck overlooking Clearwater Beach & the Gulf where we watched the sun set. Our server Jordan was polite, friendly, accommodating & didn’t rush us. We split the beet salad and each ordered the Grouper, which was terrific. We split the Pandan dessert which was worth the calories!
We don’t come to Clearwater often, but when we do this place is mandatory.
Very, veryjmitrd vegan options. Expensive for what I was able to eat. Had to go out to eat and find food for dinner after dinner. Excellent service.
I live in Tampa, so it's a hike, but I really enjoyed Ocean Hai. The service was outstanding, the decor/ambiance is wonderful, and the food really good - very unique offerings too. If you're staying in the Clearwater area I'd definitely recommend it; or if you want to make it a stay-cation or something...they do validate parking with a $50 purchase there (which is inevitable) so that was also really great.
Delicious food and the dessert was out of this world! Service was very considerate but a little slow. Would definitely go back.
Dinner was excellent, I had the lobster fried rice & my husband had the seared yellowfin tuna - highly recommended both. Cosmo & Wisky Sour for cocktails which were made to perfection!
Waitress & staff very friendly and attentive as well.
Food was amazing! Service was amazing as well! Definitely the right choice for date night
We celebrated my wife's birthday dinner here and it was the most wonderful experience. Very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable staff that took great care of us the entire time. The view is breathtaking as we watched the sun set into the gulf just as our appetizer arrived. The food was spot on delicious and cooked to perfection. The waitress made great suggestions on menu items and pairing a drinks to go with our meals. We can't thank the entire staff at Ocean Hai enough for making that night unforgettable! Everyone there went above and beyond the "norm" to completely exceed my expectations!
Food and wait staff were amazing. The hostess on the other hand was not. Had a reservation for 8pm kept trying to get us to sit outside, it was cold out. She was not friendly about it and sat someone who came in after us with the same reservation time ahead of us. When I asked she said they specified they wanted indoor seating. When I did the reservation online it did not ask what our preference was. Poor management of seating and I didn’t feel she was trying to accommodate us.
Nice service, good atmosphere. Sushi was fantastic as was grouper. Other items so so. Tasting menu was fun but would have preferred more dishes with smaller portions rather than only 6.
When I booked the reservation the menu was different from the menu they had once we arrived. I was told it changed a week ago. If I would have seen the new menu, I would have not made a reservation. It was my anniversary dinner and my husband didn't eat dinner. He tried the quail and said it wasn't cooked all the way. He decided to skip dinner and he simply ate dessert. Sad thing.... we ended up walking around and found a place for my husband to eat. Not what I was expecting for my 18 year wedding anniversary dinner.
Outstanding meal, service and a beautiful anniversary dessert
The restaurant is beautiful and so is the scenery. We dined outside looking at the sunset and pier 60. We started with the meatball app which was our favorite. The calamari was nice, would have enjoyed a larger serving. The cocktails were perfect. The disappointment were the entrees. I had the ramen noddles and my friend had the long fried rice. Lacked flavor. My other friend had the short rib dish which he enjoyed. The server was great and so was the rest of the staff. I wish our dishes were better because it’s such a beautiful setting.
Gene was fantastic! We selected the tasting and wine pairing. Delicious food and amazing service.
Be careful 19% service charge added to bill then plus tax, even when sitting at the hotel bar having a drink.
The setting is very nice but wouldnt go again as far too over-priced and pretentious for what it is.
Our table waiting staff wasnt v friendly but rather aloof and as for the food starters good but they need to deliver the basics to charge the prices the do.
Slow cooked beef on a bed of over-cooked noodles with no veg or variation in textures! You seriously need to up your A game for people with a more sophisticated palate.
However good setting and location good for one off celebrations where you want to make an effort but I'd say do your own tip that way you don't end up paying 19% plus tax!
We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and we felt that they went above & beyond to make our dinner amazing! Great place! We would highly recommend to anyone in the area!
SUBPAR FOOD. Don't bother trying this place out. Service was non-existent and come to find out they add a standard 19% tip on the check no matter how big the party is. No wonder the waitress felt no need to take care of us. Something as simple as refilling the water glasses didn't happen among many other things. I very nicely brought it to the attention of the manager. He took off $9. Really!?!? Don't do me any favors.
Our server did not offer us a drink for ten minutes after our arrival. She presumably was looking for and/or printing Clearwater Beach Restaurant week specials. There were not many people in the restaurant so it was inexcusable. This never happens at Sea Guina or other nice restaurants on the beach. The beach view is lovely but there is little ambience in the dining room. It's a bit cavernous. My salmon was okay if a little dry. My husband's plate of ribs was so bland and enormous he lost his appetite and ate little. For the prices you charge service, ambience, and food should be outstanding and it was not.
