The door was always open. Since we had the chance to witness it in our childhood, we wanted to recreate this environment with the same welcoming spirit. So we decided to name our place "OCabanon".
“Cave à Manger”, literally means “Cellar to Eat”. In fact, the idea is to bring a nice pairing between wine and food in a cosy place.
We want our “Cave à Manger” to be a friendly destination, where anybody can discover love stories between wine and food, share and gossip around a good bottle.

Amazing place with tasty food and great service. Will back definitely!
Have always loved this restaurant! The quality was great - service great - social distancing from other diners - great...I want Ocabanon to be around for a very long time! They clearly care - it was a wonderful experience!
Always a great experience at O'Cabanon. Friendly staff, good food and good service.
While the food was very good, the service was very bad. The server took too long to bring our order, brought the wrong drink and did not ensure that our food was served in the order we requested.
We would not go back.
Excellent food. Very nice place. Gentle and efficient service.
Fun small bar, Risotto delish, good option for drinks and or dinner before or after event at MSG.
Average food. A little pricey for the area
Great restaurant. Amazingly fresh food prepared perfectly.
We had a reservation before a concert. Table was ready when we arrived. Service was quick and attentive. Great meal, nice wine,Super cute decor. We would definitely go back & will recommend it to friends!
Great service, beautiful ambiance and delicious food. If you are MSG, a must!
food very good but waitress was poor...had to constantly shout out to her to order, pay, etc..
Probably because it was Valentine’s Day but the service was slow in taking our orders. They did offer water quick but the waiting to take our orders were slow. I thought we were able to order from there regular menu but it seemed because it’s Valentine’s Day there only had a prefixed menu to offer with 3 options in apps, main course and dessert. The ambiance was ok but the choice of music they played wasn’t romantic probably because they had a bar there.
A wonderful meal. It was Valentine's Day, so only their premium priced prix fixe menu was on offer. Still, each course was delicious, albeit pricier than one would spend for an everyday night on the town.
Valentine's Day dinner with my son (my true Valentine <3)
Ate dinner here before The Eagles concert at MSG. Staff were super nice from calling in for reservation to a personal goodnight's & friendly quick chat on the way out. I arrived early, they gladly welcomed me in from the cold and sat me down early. There was a price fix menu for Valentine's Day which I had not expected. I was hoping to try some of the regular menu selections which I chose from online but the price fix menu did not disappoint. The beet, arugula & goat cheese appetizer was lovely, with cut out heart shaped beets on the plate. The rack of lamb was so delicious. It was tender and seasoned perfectly, with 3 chops on the plate. I ordered the cheese plate as my dessert, which was a really nice selection of various cheeses along with sliced apples, figs, and large red grapes too. Overall, very pleasant first visit. We will gladly dine here again. It was a quick walk to MSG from here, very convenient. (One mention... a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our dinner bill. Fine for me, however, nobody mentioned it beforehand and I typically do not review the bill and just add 20%. Be sure to check before tipping.)
As Valentine's Day is also my wife's birthday, we are always careful choosing where to dine. In this case we wanted to be near MSG as were attending a concert after dinner and staying nearby as well. After researching a bunch of restaurants we picked OCabanon due to a tremendous number of interesting dishes on the menu. No one bothered to mention to us until we sat down that the menu would not be available and there was a price fixed set of two choices for each course. Since we were there very early (5PM) we asked if there was a chance we could pick things off the real menu as NONE of the items we were interested in were among the choices. We were told that wasn't possible. We got our first course and agreed that even though we were upset, we should come back again when the full menu was available as they were very good. Things went downhill from there. While the risotto entree was excellent, the dover sole was bland and gelatinous. And the service kept getting worse (without the place being full). He forgot a glass of wine, he took forever to bring out our deserts and never even acknowledged my wife's birthday. When we asked for the check we waited over 15 minutes and had to ask again. I guess we'll never know how good the real menu is.
Took my girl for our valentines dinner and she loved it. Steak was cooked perfect, server was very attentive and helpful, and the ambiance provided the perfect atmosphere for a romantic date with my girl. We will definately return!
They took credit card off table without giving us a bill. Pretty sure they overcharged us quite a bit.
Good food, good restaurant. Could offer more menu choices. Would definitely go back.
If you look for autentic french food, good atmosphere, and very friendly and professional service, choose O Cabanon! You will not be disapointed !
Great authentic French place being in France several times and eating locally not the usual tourist destination food
The food here is exceptional. True French cuisine. The risotto is to die for. Service was great!
Great food and service along with a much appreciated boutique with french classic products.
This restaurant is fine, but given what else is available I wouldn't run back. When we first arrived it was still quite early and the restaurant was empty. They tried to sit us up front on low back aluminum bar stools. There was a lovely section in the back with proper tables. I asked the hostess to please move us there she said they would not open that up until they were busier. We would not be comfortable having dinner on those stools so we were about to leave when a waiter intervened and sat us in the regular seating. As soon as we sat down they sat a 6 person table immediately behind us , so that in this entire seating area our 2 tables were right on top of each other while the rest of the room sat empty. That was fine, but neither table was as comfortable as we could have been and just very strange and shows a total lack of tone. The food was perfectly fine. I had the black sea bass and my fellow diner had the crab cake appetizer which was generous enough to be an entree. The cheese board was lacking some of the accompaniments that were described on the menu and a shoulder shrug was offered in explanation. The restaurant was advertised as French, but it isn't really - it's more of an American/EU fusion.
Réveillon de Noël
Superb meal and terrific service. Would recommend.
Consistently great food and lovely wine list. Perfect pre-dinner spot before any event at MSG. Ambience fun, private event room available, and service with a smile.
Really liked this place. Is much bigger than it looks from outside. Tables are cramped but the noise level was fine. Liked that it had small plates. Had the French Onion Soup (not salty which is a plus), the tuna tartare (excellent - will always order this when here!), and the crab cake (very good). My companion had the salmon which was excellent. This may become my go-to place when attending events at Madison Square Garden.
Bustling bistro with caring staff but perhaps a little overworked at peek dinner hour so a few interactions were slow but not painfully so. The food was well worth the wait however and the bottle of Chablis we had ($85) was excellent!
We had such a great time that we forgot our shoppings bags at the table.
Great evening! Highly recommend this lovely, intimate French restaurant in Chelsea.
Our second visit. Great service and food however the ambiance is so so... and very loud
We used the Pulsd deal to celebrate our anniversary. The red wine we received was good. I think the options were good though it’s not a robust menu. I had the market fish which was a branzino and was AMAZING. For the appetizer we had the scallops which were pretty good. Overall I would go back, especially if I could get that deal again!
The food is excellent. The entree list is very small but the appetizer list is very large.
We came here for our family celebration of Thanksgiving. We were 4 and chose a table in the back room which has a nice ambiance. The service is friendly and superb. Our corn chowder was delicious. The main dish of turkey with Pate de fois gras and vegetables was absolutely scrumptious. Unlike many restaurants at Thanksgiving, we could select what we wanted from either the holiday menu or from their usual offerings. This was brilliant for the different dietary requirements of our group. We highly recommend this restaurant!
6 of us had dinner this past Saturday evening. We both made reservations accidentally. Got super dirty looks from wait staff when we explained the error. I get that you lost a reservation but we apologies three times and then saw one waiter tell another waitress and both of them huffed and rolled their eyes! Again I get it but we really just made a mistake. Also the waitress did not write down our order and got half of it confused and some forgotten.
I’ve been here at least three or four times before and this was the worst visit. Food is good and I always enjoy it but this visit was disappointing and rude .
Everything was excellent!
Delicious food and great wine. Awkward space, particularly in the back. Service is pleasant but sometimes sloppy.
Took them over an hour to bring the food out. We were promised “bread with butter” while we wait but nothing came of it. Had to remind our server to bring us our drinks. At the end of the meal when we were about to leave he chased after us because he wanted a bigger tip and was “confused by what we have left”.
I can’t review the food- it never came. After 1.5 hours without food we walked out. And most amazing- no one stopped us. That’s how much anyone seems to care about anything at this restaurant.
I had written a review of a bad experience I had here a week ago and decided to try again the week. No reason to reference the first dinner, everyone can have an off night... My recent experience was solid, good food and a nice waitress that remembered me and the bad experience without me saying anything and made sure my experience this time was a good one.
