Food was good, service was fine but noise level almost ruined the experience.
I’ve had much better experiences at Obon. This one was just ok. For some reason it wasn’t very crowded tonight, which is weird. Last time I tried to go they wouldn’t let me in because of all of the reservations. Anyone could have walked in last night. The service wasn’t great. We waited a good 30 minutes before our drink order was taken.
Obon original ramen - spicy and it is a large portion. Very filling. Fried dumplings were good but not great. Probably better steamed. Avocado roll filling and okay
Tables were well distanced. Servers wearing masks and people at tables were eating so not masked. People leaving and coming in were generally masked.
Great experience! When check came we realized that they didn’t give us the happy hour prices, when we brought it to the waitresses attention she adjusted it right away!!
Food was delicious
Overall, 3-4 stars. Cali roll was really good bc it had the crab roll, not crab/mayo mix. OBON ramen was very spicy which I like. The chicken wings were REALLY good! Disappointed, though, at the meat to rice ratio for both the chicken teriyaki and the Korean twice-fried chicken; too much rice, so little chicken. The shrimp tempura was undercooked - the batter was soft beneath the thin crunchy exterior. Worth trying another time, but would not get these items that disappointed.
Food was great ,Service was great , only I wish they would have more comfy seating chairs, and thats why I gave them 4 stars.
Overall - would go back there for sure.
Enjoyed the happy hour with friends.
We sat outside with our little dog. The mosquitoes we unrelenting. Very uncomfortable.
One of the best happy hour in town.
Celebrated my anniversary with my boyfriend. We decided to try a couple of small plates in addition to our entrees.
First we had the spicy tuna and crispy rice with pepper sauce. The crispy rice was a bit on the thicker side, but the dish overall was quite tasty.
We also had some of the steamed buns. We ordered the pork belly and the shrimp, we meant to only order one of each but the server brought 2 of each, so we both had 1 of of each kind. Both of us preferred the pork belly. It was tender with good flavor. I even enjoyed the cucumber slices that were on the bun as well. The shrimp was actually breaded and fried but seemed like it was a little over cooked and rubbery.
The last small plate we tried was actually one of the shiro maki signature rolls. My boyfriend loves sushi despite not being a big fan of seafood (mostly he dislikes cooked fish). However he also does not like cucumber. I ordered this roll because it sounded interesting and did not list cucumber as an ingredient. However the roll we were given did have cucumber in it. The boyfriend was able to pick out the offending piece but it was annoying that he needed to do it.
For entrees, both of us ordered ramen. I ordered the OG ramen while my boyfriend had the Obon. We were both happy with our selections. The taste was interesting and rich. The only downside was that the noodles didn’t all separate so we had some clumps of gummy noodles through our ramen.
This was my first visit to Obon and I can definitely say that I’m going to return in the future.
Great food great drinks. Amazing patio, even during the hot summer months
Ramen. Soup too salty more like instant noodles soup
Wings. Chicken meat it’s hard and chewy Too sweet
Tina sushi. Tuna smell a bit weird I’m not sure they’re fresh
Was there for a late lunch. Only 3 other parties there. Service was slooooooooowwwwww. No table touch to see how good was. If we needed anything without staring at server. Food was great but if you’re slow keep in mind not to be complacent.
The california maki is soo good and the ramen.
Fantastic food and service! We love their daily happy hour!
First visit to Obon. Warmly greeted w/ a pleasant interior. The food presentation was well done. The Rolls were ok, but minimal flavor, and the yellowtail was inedible. Unfortunately, we will not be back.
Plenty of service help…only problem, they were to busy chatting with each other! Several times servers would look at us and not do anything waited over 30mins
👍 great find for these out of towners. Rice tuna appetizer was amazing and the Ramon dish was perfect.
Happy hour was an amazing deal! Service was spectacular and dishes came out quickly. Food was delicious! Will definitely be back.
Ramen - amazing. Sushi - great. Steamed buns - incredible!!! Good service, great atmosphere, decent prices!
Went there for my daughters birthday-we had a lovely time. They were very accommodating and the food & drinks were delicious.
Celebrated Father’s Day here with my parents, and the food was amazing. We ordered the Korean Street Fries and Crispy Tuna to start and it came out in a decent time. We also ordered the Obon ramen, Salmon & Yellowtail Sashimi, Monster roll and edamame. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be returning.
Not as good as when it first opened. need to order a few items at a time or they all come at once and are cold before you can eat them. our potstickers were cold on arrival.
the bird buns aren't as good as before, more bun than bird. salt and vinegar wings are good. Not enough variety .
It was great
Great for families with small children
Although it sounds really weird to order ramen on a hot summer AZ evening, I had to try it. It did not disappoint. Ambiance was great, cocktail selection was tasty, & the ramen and sushi are quite good!
Oban is a wonderful adventure in food. My taste buds have never been disappointed.
Good food and service!
Beautiful atmosphere. Service was quick to bring the food,
My friend had a ramen and he loved it.
Obon is consistently amazing! My favorite go-to for girls night, out of towners, and friends who haven’t been yet.
We love this place! Food is always delicious and the staff is super nice!
Food was not good quality.
Top-notch service! Quick, efficient and with a smile. Food was great too.
Ramen was delicious!
Everything was delicious!
Amazing food and service. Chef is really creative and serves high quality food.
Have been on the patio twice before and really loved the experience but this time not quite as good.
Prior two times was given great table at the start but this time given the worst table first when lots of table open.
One of the misters is directly over a chair at one of the tables.
The food has previously been excellent. This time the vegetable roll was too big in diameter and therefore difficult to handle with the chopsticks. The Nigiri yellowtail rice fell apart as soon as touched.
All other parts of the experience were very good.
The Steamed buns and Double Fried Chicken were awesome! We had an early dinner during the week and food/bar service was super quick! Will definitely be back.
Obon is a wonderful casual sushi experience for aficionados and newbies alike. The menu at the Grove has some differences from the Quarter. The Kanto Beef, Street Noodles, and Veggie Black Ramen did not disappoint. Ambience in the restaurant is good, and our server Kayla was awesome.
