The Obon and other ramens, not mention the steam buns, are so good, I keep coming back for them. There is plenty more to the menu. Great outdoor dining in the heart of downtown Tucson.
Very good Asian (mostly Japanese) food, both classics, and more innovative preparations.
Excellent cocktails, very good service. Ambience Inside) a little spare but OK. Was cold the day we were at OBON so could not eat on nice patio, but that would have been very pleasant in good weather.
Best sushi restaurant in all of Tucson. My daughter, wife and I dinned in New Years Eve - we absolutely loved it! Amazing, amazing food!! Will be back!!
Dope I need 50 more characters…. Sushi was good and the spice bomb was spicy
Service was kind of slow.
we were celebrating a Birthday, everything was exceptionallly good. starting with the delicious cocktails, the appetizers, ramen soup bowls to the sushi. it's our go to place to celebrate a special day. thankyou.
I always love this place. The drinks, food, atmosphere. If you sit outside expect it to be noisy. Right across the street is a bar/club and people drive their modified cars around the block a few times, other than that, I Couldn’t recommend this place more.
Great place to try new things you haven't tried before.
What an amazing experience a little expensive but well worth the price due to the quality of food , ambiance , and service . Would definitely come back here in the future.
Having spent time traveling in Japan we enjoy traditional Japanese food. OBON menu had some interesting variations which were excellent. The traditional dishes were also excellent. The sashimi was very good and excellent value for money. The sake we ordered was very smooth and easy to drink. The restaurant had a continual flow of customers making it a pleasant place to spend an evening. A great evening with first class service.
We had been to Obon prior to the pandemic and enjoyed it but it wasn't the best sushi I ever had. They have definitely stepped it up with new innovative dishes and very fresh sashimi. Kudos to Obon and Erica our server was awesome!
Loved this place. Food was AMAZING. Atmosphere was fun and laid back, and prices were great
Great food. Great time. Great staff. My kind of place
One of the first cold evenings of the season, so they didn't have heaters out for the patio, but we dined outside regardless. Quiet, except when loud (enhanced mufflers?) cars pass by, but we knew about this. Inside was packed, so service was slow--restaurants are still having a tough time, I think. While food and drink were slow to come, the server was very personable--and he even served a dish we ordered without onions, having heard me say to my husband that I couldn't eat onions WRT another dish. Food, as always, was great.
Definitely enjoyed our dinner at Obon! We mixed it up with sushi, salads and appetizers. Each one was as good as the last! Can't wait to come back again! Thanks Obon!
Definitely going back as I couldn't try everything I wanted, but going to taste the whole menu.
Expected more ambiance, my wife’s ramen was tasty but very spicy couldn’t finish it, she loved the strip roll and I enjoyed a variety of nigiri along with several Hurricanes. Hostess were friendly and accommodating, bartender was quick kitchen a little slow, most likely will return and recommend.
Good food, very busy for a Monday night, they only had a few servers. Overall we like Obon and will always return
The food was okay. My wife and I enjoyed “The Strip”. The “Spam Steamed Bun” did not look like much but was excellent in flavor but we think it’s overpriced for how small they were. The “California Roll” was a California roll. Don’t expect anything earth-shattering.
Our server/bartender although nice, was distracted, very spacey and slow. She forgot my drink order twice and our second sushi order took much longer than expected.
Overall, place is just okay. I feel there are more sushi restaurants that are better and more economical.
Always delicious! Hadn't been back in awhile, but found it as good as ever. Even the service was fast (maybe too fast, if that's possible) and attentive -- I congratulate the restaurant on being able to be staffed well enough to accomplish this in these difficult times. Papaya salad was refreshing on a very hot day, and had a definite kick to it; Tataki Maki roll was outstanding; and our favorite guilty pleasure--bird buns--never disappoints :). OBON remains a true favorite.
I enjoyed it! Good time. My only complaint would be the pork buns. They weren’t buns instead they were folded like a taco. They were good, just wasn’t what I was hoping for seeing as we went there specifically for pork buns.
Amazing food, craft cocktails and great service. I have been eating here since they opened. It is my go to place with friends, date night and family.
Very noisy when restaurant is at full capacity. Not a place I would recommend. Have had much better food at places off Congress St. The service was just ok. Had to ask for part of our food ordedred but not served with the rest of the meal. Advertized as pork belly but served pork roast sliced thicker. Skimpy veggies on Ramen noodles.
Outstanding food and service! We loved all dishes.
Loved it! Different from most other places. Everything we had was delicious!
The hostess was the only good part of our dining experience. The remaining staff was awful, no attentiveness, no personality. Think twice about obon
On time reservation. Food was different and amazing!
This was my first time (finally!) at this restaurant, and I was not disappointed. The food was great: I had the Crispy Golden Curry and split an order of the pork belly buns with my friend. The food was great! My friend had the poke, which looked amazing. The staff were also wonderful: attentive without being intrusive or pushy in the least. I really enjoyed my dinner and definitely plan to come back to try more dishes!
Obon was perfect for my 83th birthday! I'm a sushi lover from way back, and I always want mine authentic, or creative, or both - which Obon gave me - my wishes were granted. Standouts were the Yellowtail sashimi special dish, and the Monster maki roll, both so divine that I felt like a world traveler who got lucky in Tokyo. We also had the potstickers, and the crispy cauliflower. Washing it all down with pineapple saki -(a surprise summer-perfect drink, and then your elegant chardonnay. Loved the freshness of it all! Left floating like a queen. Or maybe a Japanese princess? Thank you, for all of it - made my day, a most memorable birthday dinner.
The good was delicious, I enjoyed everything we had which was quite a bit.
The service was very good.
The seating is a bit cramped inside. The noise is loud because everyone is on top of each other.
But I would definitely go back.
Very patient and sweet servers and great food! Will come back again :)
Obon serves the best salmon poke and ramen we’ve ever tasted. We arrived when they opened at 4:00 p.m. and had the place to ourselves for most of the hour we were there, thus the quiet rating. I’m sure when all the tables and chairs are filled the noise level rises.
Food is excellent
Food was excellent. This is the second time we have gone here for our wedding anniversary.
Food was delicious and the waitress remembered our order without writing it down (we had a party of 4 and ordered a lot with special requests). She also helped our friend pick ramen without pork (can’t eat pork due to religious reasons) and was super friendly.
Food service was amazing! Went for my high school graduation last minute and loved it! Definitely would recommend for special occasions or a night out!
We recently lost my father and my mom is now living with my newly wedded husband and I so we wanted her to feel good and treat her like a true tucsonan. She loved it and wants to go back!
We went during Happy Hour (4-5pm) and it was not busy at all. Had the Bird and Jackfruit Steam Buns, Spicy Salmon and California Rolls, and The Strip signature roll. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Had a Black Tea Old Fashioned which was quite tasty.
We will definitely go back to try some of the Ramen and Large Plate items. Service was top notch. Give them a try!
Wonderful food, wait staff, ambiance!!
I loved everything about it and would order the spring rolls, jackfruit steam buns and vegan white ramen all over again!!
