Excellent food and wonderful service
Sevice great , food very authentic Italian.
Love the patio - small but lovely. The Cacio e Pepe was delicious! Wait staff superb!
Mozzarella sampler portions were small for the price, and the wine pours, less than 5 oz/glass, were small for the price as well. The pappardelle was undercooked. I appreciate al dente pasta but the noodles were chewy, like glue, and needed a few more minutes to reach anything approaching al dente.
FWIW, we dine out a fair amount and are usually pretty pleased with most establishments both high end and casual. The casual vibe and disappointingly average quality cuisine did not justify the upscale prices. On the positive side, our server was great however.
I’ve eaten here 2x and like the original recipes, flavor combinations I don’t see all over town. Pleasant, spacious, relaxin atmosphere with very good customer service. Good for groups and for conversation.
Just a lovely chill Friday night dinner. We had our small dog with us and it was perfect to just sit in the heated outdoor patio with great service, food, and wine!!!!!
Service was as good as I’ve ever seen. Hands on manager and all staff enthused and energetic. Teamwork was incredible!
Obica in Santa Monica is always a pleasurable experience. :) We were welcomed with complimentary glasses of Prosecco and a Caprese appetizer. I recommend sitting outside if the weather is fair!
Loved the pasta we had. Would go there again
Always love going here. The food is exactly what you can find in Italy.
Great sevvice and food. It is catching on as more crowded than before. Good wine selection.
The ambiance of the restaurant is clean and modern. It's a small place so if it were full I would suspect it might feel a bit crowded, although there's outdoor seating that would balance that out. We enjoyed the creative and diverse menu. The service was a bit disappointing. We were seated promptly upon our arrival but then it felt like we sat waiting for attention from our server for a very long time. This in spite of the fact that the restaurant was pretty quiet so I'm not sure what the holdup was. There was a problem on our bill which was frustrating. We arrived during Happy Hour which advertised reduced prices for "house" red and white wine. Two members of our party ordered the house white. When the bill arrived we had been charged full price for those wines. Our server explained that they didn't have "house" wines because all their wines were so good. He said we should have ordered the "happy hour" wines. This in spite of a large sign saying "house wines" were reduced during happy hour. He did agree to take the extra charge off the bill but it felt like an odd and unnecessary discussion to have at the end of a nice meal.
Everything would have been fine (not exceptional, just okay) if not for the $24 mozzarella sampler. The restaurant should be embarrassed to serve such small sample sizes (they actually cut a small ball of mozzarella to a quarter sampler!!!). Being over-charged for a few spoons of cheese was the only "memorable" part of my visit.
The pizza was good, but not much more. I also thought the pricing was a little high for the ambience and food quality. Not a terrible experience, but just ok.
The service is always outstanding and I love that they usually offer a complimentary tastings. My lasagna was very good and my husband devoured the fish!
Always good and has lots of choices.
The food is really amazing. The menu and its emphasis on mozzarella I had a great variety.
The food is always good and they often have specials not on the regular menu. Reminds me of Italy.
Great Italian food in Santa Monica with a helpful staff. The cacio de Pepe pasta was fantastic, highly recommend.
Great restaurant. Food is delicious, service is fantastic. Lovely place for dining out. The caprese salad and the cacio e pepe were the best that i've had at any restaurant. Parking nearby can be a little challenging.
Great meal and friendly service!
just had lunch there, so not a broad sample. Had the papardelle with duck ragu. Uninteresting but not bad, just uninteresting. Lots of places in Santa Monica have much more interesting and delicious pastas, so why come back here?
Server was very rushed. Food was cold, reheated in a microwave. We were not offered dessert even though everyone around us was. Not impressed. Food was OKAY. But cold . Will not be back
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The Mozzarella Bar was truly unique.
We’ve been to Obica many times and always love the food and the ambiance. The starters, especially the cheeses, are delicious as are the pastas. The service is usually fantastic although it was really slow on our last visit there. It may have just been an off night and we’ll definitely go back!
Obica in Santa Monica is always wonderful. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. We had a great waiter named Leon who was attentive, personable and on top of everything. I can't wait to go back.
There were very few patrons at the time we were seated. Our first course came fairly quickly. But we waited more than 30 minutes for the second course. I think the first waiter was off work when he seated us. He never came to tell us someone else would be taking over. (He walked multiple times across the room whilst on the phone). The other servers where attentive. The coffee after the meal was delicious. During our meal, no one came to check on us to see how we were doing. I got the feeling that we where deemed as not as important as other non-DineLa patrons. What a shame.
Burrata is a must have
My husband had multiple surgeries at St Johns and during his hospital stay we ordered from this restaurant frequently! On a follow up appointment we decided to go to Obica -Santa Monica and were pleasantly surprised! Food, drinks were great, service was excellent and loved the outdoor seating.
Service was great, good location, nice ambiance, foods were fresh, flavors are ok. However, our favorite was the pizza, good dough, nice crust...but cacio e Pepe pasta was a bit underwhelming.
We went for DineLA to try a place that had been on the list for a while. the items we tried varied with the parparadella with duck ragout being quite nice. Other items varied. the ork tenderloin itself was good but the asparagus sauce was relativelt bland. We had two desserts both of which were very good, a tramisu and a pear ricotta cheesecake.
Everything about our meal was great -- from the service, to the wine selection, to the quality of the meal, itself. Joyfully, we were allowed to take our time and enjoy the company and the food without feeling rushed. Everything tasted great and fresh. We are already looking forward to a return visit.
Fantastic Italian food and wine selection. I strongly recommend.
Good food and great service. The pizza is better at the nyc location but the service was very friendly here. Arthur was great and made us feel at home. Thank you!
It was incredible. Great food, even better service. Will visit again when I’m back in LA!
Pasta too al dente (I left it), otherwise great. Wonderful calamari!
Amazing food quality. Been to their Century City place a few times, s o thought we'd try their local joint. Turns out it's another winner. Only tiny niggle/suggestion... seat cushions oughta be made from something other than cloth, as the cloth seats get kinda spotty from yummy stuff being dropped on them. Doesn't bother me, but it caught spousal unit's attention. Otherwise, all is wonderful.
We had excellent service and a great meal! What more could a girl ask for!
We have eaten at Obica elsewhere (Century City) and were disappointed by the comparison. The Caponata at Century City is outstanding, worth a special trip and we have been there repeatedly. Here in Santa Monica the eggplant slices were undesirably larger, it was undesirably sweeter and we would not order it again. The mozarella was excellent as always and the pasta good. A satisfactory restaurant but not a standout.
