This was a post holiday get together of long time friends
Good authentic Italian
Perfect. Great food.
Service was bad and we were the only ones on the place!!!! Food was terrible . I am shocked they are in business.... should have left once they served a pizza that was below par! The best thing was the $60 bottle of wine that they didn’t make! Stay away the other reviews must be FAKE..
My husband, adult son and I enjoyed a wonderful evening of wine, burrata and white truffles at the Santa Monica Obica. The service and attention we received by Leon (server) and Patrick (management) were extraordinary. We plan to make Obica a more regular stop when we visit our son in the LA area ;-)
Food was good but not hot. Service was excellent. Very relaxing.
Great experience- best waiter - Leon- we’ve ever had!! He went out of his way to accommodate my grandchildren and gave us wonderful recommendations. Super cocktails and fabulous pasta.
It's OPEN and it's damn GOOD!!!!
Like many of you, I was wondering if this place was open given a few past reviews....turns out, it IS and it's damn good...
So many mozzarella dishes to choose from and Soo tasty. Great service, great food, yummy dessert. Try it; you'll like it!!
The place was CLOSED. I reserved a table and had high expectations about this place. Thought it would be a nice place to have dinner to celebrate our anniversary with my wife, but we were disappointed and frustrated. Tried to figure out what was going on because there was nothing to inform about the place being closed, but of course, no one answer the phone.
Very strange that you can make a booking for a restaurant that is closed. We were excited to give this restaurant a try only to find out when we arrived that it was closed and hadn’t been open for sometime. Disappointing that open table doesn’t reflect what is happening with restaurants and that you can make reservations even though they are not open
Got there at our reservation time to find the restaurant closed. Called the number to find there was only a voicemail message. Probably wasn't as angry as the doordash driver who was there to pick up an order. Thanks for nothinga
Service was fantastic- Obica is a great little gem.
Second time there and both times were great! Pasta and appetizers are very good, including of course the mozzarella.
The patio was lovely and we had it all to our selves which was super romantic. The staff were all so nice and made every effort to make our dining experience wonderful. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t that great. We had the zucchini and mozzarella nest which was a bit dry and the zucchini were more like soggy salt and vinegar chips. I really likes the eggplant parm but that was about it. I’d go back for sure if the food was just a bit better.
The burrata is delicious!!!!
Appetizers were delicious. Eggplant parmigiana was very small and could have had more cheese.
We have been here many times in the past few years, but every time it seems to go more and more downhill. There was a big sign declaring "Under New Management" or something this time, so we had our hopes up. Alas, we were disappointed. We had two waiters - one who sat us and took our initial order - I didn't get his name - but then went on break, and then the guy who took over for him, Arthur. Arthur was fantastic - we loved Arthur. He really was great. The first guy was okay, but was distracted or something, because different things about our order kept coming out wrong, and we had to send things back. So 2.5 to 3 stars for the first guy, and 5 stars for Arthur, who kept having to help us figure out what got miscommunicated so that we could get something to eat that we were not allergic to, among other things. Every time we sent something back, the (apparently) teenage chef in the kitchen would glare at us. We sent scallops back for being ice cold, and he sent out the replacement cooked almost raw. Out of the four plates (two appetizers, two entrees) we ordered, one was fantastic (Salmon tartare - yum!), one was good-not-great, one was just okay (kinda boring) and the last one was the aforementioned first-cold, then-raw fiasco. We have loved this place in the past - their menu is great, their wine list is really good, and the mozzarella really is wonderful - but this visit was just disappointing and disheartening. Arthur was the bright, shining star of it all, but everything else left us resolved never to come here again. Or at least until they are once again under new management, perhaps.
Always great food at one of our neighborhood favorites. The service is excellent every time and the menu changes seasonally so there's often something new to taste. Sit in the garden when the weather permits.
Outdoor seating was very comfortable and service was excellent. Unfortunately the food was not prepared well. Very simple menu items were overcooked: entry that should have been moist and succulent was served dry; an eggplant dish was a doofus mess. Generally the place is overpriced for what it was able to deliver.
I travel to Italy often. This place is the next best thing for Italian comfort food. The quality of the food is excellent and the staff makes us feel welcome.
Authentic Italian in Santa Monica.
Pretty cool place to get some drinks and food with your friends. Truffle pizza was quite good!
The prices aren’t worth it. My pasta was a pool of butter in a bad way, not a yummy way. I felt like the staff was trying to upsell us, offering pricey items in the menu.
Excellent food and wonderful service
Sevice great , food very authentic Italian.
Love the patio - small but lovely. The Cacio e Pepe was delicious! Wait staff superb!
Mozzarella sampler portions were small for the price, and the wine pours, less than 5 oz/glass, were small for the price as well. The pappardelle was undercooked. I appreciate al dente pasta but the noodles were chewy, like glue, and needed a few more minutes to reach anything approaching al dente.
FWIW, we dine out a fair amount and are usually pretty pleased with most establishments both high end and casual. The casual vibe and disappointingly average quality cuisine did not justify the upscale prices. On the positive side, our server was great however.
I’ve eaten here 2x and like the original recipes, flavor combinations I don’t see all over town. Pleasant, spacious, relaxin atmosphere with very good customer service. Good for groups and for conversation.
Just a lovely chill Friday night dinner. We had our small dog with us and it was perfect to just sit in the heated outdoor patio with great service, food, and wine!!!!!
Service was as good as I’ve ever seen. Hands on manager and all staff enthused and energetic. Teamwork was incredible!
Obica in Santa Monica is always a pleasurable experience. :) We were welcomed with complimentary glasses of Prosecco and a Caprese appetizer. I recommend sitting outside if the weather is fair!
Loved the pasta we had. Would go there again
Always love going here. The food is exactly what you can find in Italy.
Great sevvice and food. It is catching on as more crowded than before. Good wine selection.
The ambiance of the restaurant is clean and modern. It's a small place so if it were full I would suspect it might feel a bit crowded, although there's outdoor seating that would balance that out. We enjoyed the creative and diverse menu. The service was a bit disappointing. We were seated promptly upon our arrival but then it felt like we sat waiting for attention from our server for a very long time. This in spite of the fact that the restaurant was pretty quiet so I'm not sure what the holdup was. There was a problem on our bill which was frustrating. We arrived during Happy Hour which advertised reduced prices for "house" red and white wine. Two members of our party ordered the house white. When the bill arrived we had been charged full price for those wines. Our server explained that they didn't have "house" wines because all their wines were so good. He said we should have ordered the "happy hour" wines. This in spite of a large sign saying "house wines" were reduced during happy hour. He did agree to take the extra charge off the bill but it felt like an odd and unnecessary discussion to have at the end of a nice meal.
Everything would have been fine (not exceptional, just okay) if not for the $24 mozzarella sampler. The restaurant should be embarrassed to serve such small sample sizes (they actually cut a small ball of mozzarella to a quarter sampler!!!). Being over-charged for a few spoons of cheese was the only "memorable" part of my visit.
The pizza was good, but not much more. I also thought the pricing was a little high for the ambience and food quality. Not a terrible experience, but just ok.
