Portions were quite meager on the mozzerella. The tasting plate was really quite small- next time we'll just pick one mozzerella and see if thats a larger plate.
I normally enjoy this restaurant and its food. My last dining experience was a bit of a letdown, however.
Two things: Even though the restaurant was not very busy, and I had a reservation, I was made to wait "for the other party" before being shown to our table. (The reservation was for two people). Not a welcoming experience.
Additionally, the food I had ordered (Ravioli Freschi) was undercooked, lukewarm and served in a watery base. It tasted like frozen ravioli that had not been properly warmed up.
No complaints about our server, who was courteous and efficient.
Great neighborhood dining
Always lively with very fresh and creative cuisine
Don’t go there. The food was absolutely bad. The pastas were undercooked and too salty. The sauces for the pastas taste worst than if I had just bought a can of the same flavor sauce at the grocery store and poured it in the dish. The pizza dough was rubbery and the sauces bland and sweet. The mozzarellas, supposedly the specialty here, nothing special either. Servers tried to do their best to please but the kitchen is really killing it and them. So many better places near by. Take it from an Italian who was hopeful to find a good place, don’t go.
Went in my own and had a pizza and wine. Service was excellent, pizza was good (but not great), and a bit pricey for what I had. Lots of room, busy bar, good for groups.
Great Lunch specials Friendly/Knowledgable Service /Nice atmosphere
I've had bar snacks at Obica in the past, which have always been okay, but my son (age 12) wanted high end Pizza and so the three of us (2 adults / 1 child) went there for what was supposed to be a fun dinner out. It was a disaster. The pizza was 'okay,' the menu items recommended by the waiter were pretty dreadful. The bolognese was tasteless, the brussel sprouts were undercooked and low on flavor and the fish was overcooked. The cacio e pepe was fair at best. Worse, the waiter never checked back in with us and I literally had to get out of my chair and go hunt down a salt grinder from the closest busing stand.
On the plus side, the manager responded to my complaints and knocked the two failed entrees off our bill, which was the right thing to do. They've offered to take care of us next time (also the right thing to do), but we won't be going back.
Our table share pizzas...cheese and prosciutto were the favorites. Service was great, very friendly and prices are quite reasonable.
Beautiful dishes, excellent service, and just well done all around.
Pour la 4e année d’affilée, nous avons fait de ce resto de New-York une de nos destinations préférées! Merci au staff et surtout à Barbie , notre manager préférée, pour toutes les attentions qui ont fait de ce repas une tradition....
AKA “ The Montréal crew”
Food was great (but overpriced for the quantity) and the manager was really rude.
We had a table of 12 in the back - perfect spot for a large family meal!
We were not off to a great start with the front door staff being extremely
Best Italian food ever!!! Great cocktails and service! Had a real Italian waitress too!
I called a few times to confirm my reservation for 15 people and I specifically asked for the table in the back for my Dad's birthday which is what I was told we would get. When we arrived, we were put at the table by the front door and was told that someone else had the table in the back and that no one relayed the message to the evening maitre d'. This ruined my experience. As a flatiron neighbor, I likely won't be back for this reason.
My family was in town and we made a reservation for pre-show dinner before heading up to the theater district. We had cocktails at happy hour, and tried the mozzarella experience and pastas. All amazing and our server was attentive, funny and charming.
Wednesday at 7:45 reservation, couldn’t take us earlier (not the end of the world). We got seated promptly when we came back, along the walkway path, to a wobbly table. The table was so wobbly that when I lifted my glass of water, my boyfriends water spilt all over the table. We had to clean it up no one noticed or was around to help. I got the hostess insisted we be moved. We go to order a bottle of wine, and appetizers. We tried to order 2 appetizers but they were out, we ordered burrata instead. I ordered a bottle of wine no more then 3 minutes later the bottle I wanted they are out of. Burrata and prosciutto were very good, second choice bottle of wine was good. Boyfriend didn’t care for his dish, but I thought it was tasty and we both agreed my lasagna was very good. He enjoyed a whiskey cappuccino. Once switching tables out service got better, but was disappointed overall in the experience. Probably won’t put this place on our restaurant rotation.
Pizzas were great. Mozzarella on salad was very small serving but excellent quality! A bit noisy and tables very close to each other!
Felt the food was very bland, and overpriced for what it is. The portions were also very small. We ordered many items and still left here feeling hungry. Would not go back.
Great place to catch up with friends. Though the place is lively, you can have a conversation easily. The bar is also nice.
No server assigned to a large party celebrating a birthday with a reservation - it was so awkward and we had to order everything multiple times as things got lost in the shuffle with no dedicated server. Took forever for celebratory toast to come out even though I ordered before we were seated, and cocktails arrived after the good after we practically had to beg to order them.. did not feel very special for a birthday or like the restaurant catered that we chose to celebrate there
Hostess and operations manager were rude. Portions were small
I felt it was overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food.
The food is consistently good but the service wasn’t up to par. It took 20 minutes to get greeted by our server and our drinks came out after the appetizer. We barely saw our server and had to flag her down twice, once to order our meal and the other to get our check so that we could leave. I really enjoy dining at Obica but there are too many other good restaurants to risk having a similar experience happen again at Obica.
I was very disappointed. I’ve been to Obica many times and maybe it was an off day but the service was lousy. Took about 20 minutes to get a panini. The breads was stale and the chicken in the chicken salad was totally over cooked and therefore dry
I would give this place a B- for food. Location is great, so is ambiance and the service. But the food is below average.
Service is horrendous
Good lunch at nice price fix.
We told our waiter we had an Obica neighborhood card for the 10% discount when we sat down. When he presented the check he did not make the adjustment and said it was too late. We have been here many times. Seems the new people working there have resulted in very, very poor service.
The food wasn’t good, it was below our expectation....
And they change for cup if hot water
Very overpriced. They were not at tentative to our drink orders. It was very crowded and they may have been understaffed and, as a teacher, I am very sensitive to those kind of issues.
Excellent service, very polite staff, clean environment and ambient atmosphere. Would highly recommend for large parties and get togethers!!
The most amazing pasta!
Long restaurant with comfortable atmosphere ..
Great for groups..
Known for it's mozzarella cheese..
Fresh ingredients ..
pizza was VERY mediocre and for an Italian restaurant based on the Italian restaurant of same name, this is a very poor copy. I would not go back.
Fantastic place to have team event! I would do it again..
Excellent food. Good and professional service!!!
Wonderful staff and delicious food! We spent a beautiful evening at Obica Flatiron. The waiter was amazing! Merci
Overall, fantastic experience! Food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. Can’t wait for our return visit.
The food was wonderful but the noise level was shocking at first. Get a table way in the back to dine and have a conversation if that’s what you want to do.
