Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: Chef-and-somm brothers Oliver and Nicolas Poilevey's parents opened Chicago's beloved Le Bouchon, so there was already a ton of buzz when the brothers debuted Obélix in 2022. With black-and-white floors, burgundy banquettes, and a name borrowed from the beloved Gallic comic books, the vibe here is definitely more fun than fussy. Indulgent dishes like beef Wellington, aged duck breast, and foie gras macarons have helped the restaurant and the brothers score James Beard Award nominations and a place atop Chicago Magazine's best new restaurants list in 2023.

Our experience was amazing! Hospitality and dishes were phenomenal. Alexa, our server, was quite knowledgeable and gave amazing recommendations including wine pairing. Will definitely be joining them again

We dined with you for our friend's birthday and the entire experience was superb! Our waiter Cameron and busser Celeste really made the evening with their high level of service and friendly, down to earth personalities. Both were exceptional! The food was incredible! We ordered many, many courses and each was delicious. I can't say enough about the caviar tart, the ramp tart, and the lyonnaise salad! We also loved the secreto which was beautifully prepared! There wasn't a miss in the entire meal! You are one of the best restaurants in the city. We have dined all over the world in Michelin star establishments and Obelix competes with the best of them! Thank you for an enjoyable evening!

Presentation and the taste of the food (duck & turbot) was exceptional. Desert (gateaux aux fraises) was disappointing, too many different flavors combined on one plate, better take all distracting flavors out and just make one exceptional strawberry coulis. Service was just great, friendly and well explained. Noise level is a complete disaster, three surrounding walls are made out of glass (two exterior walls, and one interior kitchen wall), and the bar wall is made out of a mirror, and the floor is a flat hard surface. On the ceiling you can see they tried to mitigate the noise level, but it is definitely not enough. The space needs more curtains from ceiling to the floor.

Best restaurant around, Julieta our waitress was amazing she arranged a few things we special ordered. John the bartender is a wizard behind the bar, the staff is friendly and attentive, food is off the charts amazing. We love going here truly the best of the best.

Good food, great dessert. Good ambience to meet up with friends. The only downside is they like to “rush” you. If you sit down, they keep coming to ask if you’re ready to order drinks, food, etc. For first time diners beware and be ready. For people who want to spend more time dining with friends, choose another restaurant. Because the last thing a French restaurant would do is to rush their diner.
