It was good but nothing impressive. Not somewhere I would come regularly even though it’s right around the corner from my house. Drinks were good, food was so-so. Had the oysters and lobster ravioli. The ravioli were rubbery, lobster wasn’t super fresh and there was something crunchy (I think it was peppercorns) in the sauce. It honestly tasted like it had just been heated up. Ambiance was ok. Got seated by the bar in a high top even though I requested standard seating in my reservation…and it wasn’t crowded so I’m not sure why we were seated there. Server was nice and attentive. I was disappointed overall with the experience. Was hoping this would be a new found neighborhood gem and a Saturday regular, but no way!
The service was great and the food was super delicious
We had a beautiful meal at Oakley Fish House. My seafood stew was excellent; my companion enjoyed a lovely seared tuna. They've really reinvented the space and have a creative menu. The service was attentive. It was a great evening, and I will definitely go again.
Chowder is both unique and very good! The fillet (steak) didn’t look or taste like a fillet at all, also covered in a type of gravy. Was not a fan of this entree. Had a crab cake that looked absolutely awesome in the presentation however it had a very unusual taste not to my liking at all.
Staff was very courteous, helpful and efficient. Ella was a superb waiter.
Our server, Kara, was amazing; she was attentive and kind. The food was good, but everything seemed to come out so f
Fantastic experience! First time there June 9, wait staff was fantastic, explaining the different drink and menu options.
Ordered Oysters on the half shell for an appetizer and they were very fresh and tasty.
Lobster Ravioli is the only Lobster Ravioli in town that I've seen actual identifiable pieces of lobster inside the Raviolis. By far the best we've had in Cincinnati.
Seared Halibut was excellent, and the veggies and cous cous went perfect with the lemon caper butter sauce on top.
Can't wait to go back!
This was our first visit. We ate outside in their very nice patio, enclosed by hedges to block the street, but still very much part of the urban environment. We had a very good meal. The caesar salad was excellent, the housemade dressing was tangy and the white anchovies added a great taste. The fish stew was outstanding, the sauce had depth without being overbearing, you could taste the distinct flavor of all the seafood. We were disappointed in the scallops with fried polenta cakes, neither had much flavor. Muscles and fresh rustic bread rounded out our meal and both very good. All in all, a very nice night out for my wife and me.
The Mediterranean fish stew is so delicious. So is the Sobrito cocktail. And the outdoor patio is lovely. It’s shielded from Madison Road by shrubbery and has about 20 tables.
Food, Service, and Ambiance were amazing. It can be difficult to find quality seafood in Cincinnati, and now Oakley Fish House will be our go to spot.
I went to Oakley Fish House to celebrate my birthday with a friend. We split several small and large plates and everything was excellent. There wasn’t anything I wouldn’t order again. My favorites were the oyster flight and the crab cake. I also really enjoyed the seared tuna and shrimp. The service was excellent and it was such a fun and memorable night.
Service was poor
Price high for quality of food
Fish was over cooked
Shrimp pasta was runny
The ambiance is beautiful tucked in a beautiful setting.
We all expected fish with vegetables , fish made several ways. Instead most appetizers and entrees contain cream
No non dairy, not many options in sauces.
The food selections are overpriced , and serving sizes were small. We ordered fish stew with mussels and another fish with potatoes. It had no taste and I never salt my food at a restaurant. Very bland. No breads served.
Salads drenched in a creamy dressing.
Disappointed in the presentations. I hope they revise the menu and create some better tasting choices. The owners are great people, just hope they can revise.
Food was good but the value probably not what I’d expect...price was 5/5 but experience and quality 3-4/5. Appetizers were the highlight.
The menu on line was appealing creative. When we arrived the menu was anout 1/5 Of the quality and creativity from the web very disappointed
Music was too loud. Service was excellent. Decor is very interesting.
The quality of the fish was excellent but flavor was completely missing in the three appetizers we selected. So dull that we choose to skip having dinner here and picked up a pizza on the way home. We hoped for better based on the previous restaurants they owned.
The food was excellent!
Seared Halibut, chopped salad, mussels, Mediterranean Fish stew, lobster ravioli, mozzarella/prosciutto
Sometimes we felt our server had put us on the back burner, paying more attention to the tables where there was alcohol. We probably waited 20 minutes for dessert
Service was top notch! But something must be wrong in the kitchen. We brought friends based on our previous experience being superb. This time, one plate came out cold (the server was quick thinking and replaced it almost immediately). Fish was over cooked; rice undercooked; and one plate the polenta was replaced with the rice. Hope things get back to the beginning, but in the mean time, we will be looking elsewhere.
The staff was wonderful! I enjoyed the decor on the inside of the restaurant. The service was amazing! Our server told us he’s in school at Cincinnati State and that he had only started two weeks ago. We couldn’t tell, he was very knowledgeable about the menu.
Food was delicious! If you are looking for someplace to get good seafood in Cincinnati look no further.
My husband and I have previously been here and the food was to die for. The service was outstanding. So we decided to bring my sister who was from out of town this time.
Unfortunately, this was the worst service I have received in a long time.
My sister ordered bread to start off. We didn’t receive it until after 45 mins of being there. I had ordered an appetizer and received that before she ever got hers. When she asked the server about it, it seemed as if she forgot all about it. Which is normally fine, but there was no apology, just a “oh let me check on that”. We ate the rest of the appetizers and the dirty plates just sat there even after the server came to check on us. It wasn’t until the manager came over to drop off our food that they were cleared out of the way for us. Not to mention they asked us to pay the check before we ever got our food, do to having power issues. I can understand that you want to make sure checks are paid but we were paying cash...The food was subpar. I didn’t even eat most of it. The best tasting thing was the bread... which is highly disappointing. I’m hoping service improves. I really liked this place at first.
Our group of 6 ladies enjoyed our meal and service. 4 of us had the Sea Bass which was amazing. Great service. Will definitely return.
Thank you for the great review. Greatly appreciate your kind review on a night where we had a power outage and our staff did their best to keep things under control.
It will be a place I like to eat with they get more help and salt shakers
It was our first time at the Oakley fish house. And it was a good experience. There were so fast and getting a seated it was incredible. Then we ordered and it seemed like it was ready in just a second. The food came out in the presentation was absolutely wonderful. The flavors great. And my 15 year old son every piece that was on his plate which was a surprise to his mother and I. That in itself gets High Praise.

The food was delicious and awesome service!!
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was terrific! This is a weird time and the fact that they have such tremendous service says something. The food was good! I wish the outdoor patio was open to help give it a little more ambiance. It needs that.
My first visit and it was for lunch. I had two appetizers that were excellent. I would order both of them again.
We arrived and were met quickly by our server. He got our appetizer order and brought back our drinks. The appetizers took a while but the oysters and calamari were on the small size as respects quantity. I got the Mediterranean fish stew which was very good. My wife had the halibut in lemon caper sauce which was tasty but the fish was a bit over cooked which she compensated with more sauce.
We liked the food overall and would likely return.
Oakley Fish House has enhanced their menu with some outstanding additions. The new shrimp penne was creamy and flavorful and full of shrimp. The amazing Mediterranean fish stew is still a crowd favorite with our family, a must try for seafood lovers! Oyster flight was fresh with great sauces. Love the new choices and greater diversity of the menu. Bravo!
I went on a date with an old friend whose birthday had passed and we did not get to celebrate due to Covid situation.
While my date was in town, I intent to have a belated birthday dinner. Our server brought in a smallest piece of key lime pie I have ever seen. we had 1 bite each and that was the pie for the birthday.
Though my date left a very generous tips, we left with the impression on that not-so-flattering birthday pie... It would have been more respectful that we were not offered that b/day treat, instead, we would have paid for a proper size desert.
Do I need to say more?
Fantastic evening within five miles of home! Can't believe we were in Oakley...hooray to you at Oakley Fish House. Quiet, cool decor, wonderful servers, frequent manager visits, can't believe it is downtown standards in a local neighborhood. I highly recommend a night out in this restaurant. For special occasions or just because. You're worth it. Thanks for the comped dessert for our birthday boy!
Honestly, too good to be in Oakley. It should be downtown
We had a great dinner and will be back.
The atmosphere was nice but the place was empty. Our waitress came over to the table too many times that it was annoying. It was clear my friend and I were visiting and didn’t want to rush but the waitress continued to interrupt and push us toward ordering. The food came out way to fast to be fresh. The fish was Luke warm it was clearly pre made and the restaurant is expensive ! The food should come out fresh and amazing for the price. They closed at 10 and were annoyed that we stayed after we paid our bill at 9:20 to finish our wine and visit until 10. They basically shut the place down around us and said nothing as we left, not thanks for coming , have a nice night, nothing.. and we tipped right at or just under 20 percent which was more than we wanted to but felt badly that they weren’t busy. I would not return.
A good second visit for us. We still need to figure out the parking.
Thank you for your return visit. Next time you visit you may park in the parking lot next to Aglemesis and Deeper Roots Coffee. We are not listed on their board but it is ok to use. Just a short walk from there. Thanks again!
This was our second trip and had a great meal and experience. The menu had several choices that looked good to us for apps and dinner. We split the Scallops and the Sea Bass and both were good size and tasted great. The presentation was fun as well if that is of interest. The wine list is pretty deep and reasonably priced and the restaurant looks great. We had very good service. Several of the tables are high tops which are not our favorite so you may want to request the non-bar side if you have a preference.
Exceptional food and service! We will definitely be back. Thank you:)
Overall, this is a nice restaurant. The food was really good and the service was very nice. I checked the menu online and saw lobster bisque was listed. I was REALLY looking forward to this bisque. Unfortunately, the menu got changed up and lobster bisque was not listed. The meal was excellent anyway! The sea bass was delicious!
The seafood stew is worth going back for...yummy!
