My husband thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here during Restaurant Week where we dined from the special prix fixe menu. I began the meal with the tomato basil soup, followed by the filet mignon and ended with the trio of sorbets. Each course was nicely presented and full of flavor. Service was spot on being appropriately attentive and friendly. We plan to return in the future.

Oak Steakhouse was great for the occasion and had a decent menu for Restaurant Week. We were celebrating us just getting married and decided to give Oak a try.. It was a nice ambiance and the filet was delicious. However it certainly isn't worth the money. If we would have not went during restaurant week it would have been at least 200$ for us both to eat. Granite, you are paying for the atmosphere and fancy food.. But the servings were small, over priced and the sirloin at Texas Roadhouse was better flavored and cooked. The only thing about our visit that I would suggest was the Samoa Cookie Pie. That was delicious! The service was okay; I think the server though because we were young he didn't need to pay us much attention.. which as a former server, everyone should be on the priority list!

Great for restaurant week, but certainly not comparable to Ruth's Chris or Halls Chophouse!

This was my son's 16th birthday. We were seated on time and on the 3rd level which was perfect so we could talk. The main floor where the bar is was a little loud. Service was excellent. The server explained the menu and any questions my son had. He took his time and made sure this was a night to remember. To top it off they put a candle in the dessert!

This was our first visit to the Oak Steak house and it was very enjoyable. We went for restaurant week and the menu was great. The wine menu was very tasty and good bottle of wine for $55. We have the 8oz filet cooked medium rare and it was cook to perfection. Our waiter was Chris and he was very attentive and provided us with some very good wine.

My wife and I went there for her birthday it was Restaurant Week we up to do the restaurant Week menu but we also ordered a couple of appetizers from the regular menu we are oysters Rockefeller that was delicious and we had beef app. We are local people that live in Charleston and we had never been to the restaurant we had heard good things about it so we decided to try we ordered the filet mignon with crab meat on top we are not drinkers so we ordered mocktails for drinks we would charge $10 a piece for those which we thought was outrageous my wife and I eat and a lot of restaurants in Charleston as we also do when we travel it's not about spending $250 to go out to eat we have no problems with doing that it's why we got for our money I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone it's unfortunate because I know the chef that originally open this restaurant and when he was there I know the food was good

I have a food blog so I critique the actual cuisine more than most but this was an all around great experience! I would absolutely recommend this to a friend! I went in for my anniversary and was treated like a VIP. We had what seemed like the best table in the entire house up on the third floor looking over Broad and State street. It was very quiet and the ambiance was perfect for a date. Our server was attentive and very helpful and helped make the night much more of a celebration than we ever intended. We LOVED our experience. I would go as far to say as this is the perfect amount of service. Not in your face like Halls can be sometime, but easily enough to be considered above and beyond! We will be returning soon, but with friends and family! Will be leaving a similar review on my food blog but it'll be more focused on the food. Thanks again!

Food and service was very good. We were seated on the second level. The wait staff constantly running up and down the stairs was very annoying. It was a constant distraction from dining and conversation. With the physical layout of the restaurant I realize this is unavoidable . If the staff walked up and down the stairs it would be less intrusive. If this is to be a fine dining experience you don’t expect to have the staff running by your table throughout the meal. That’s not fine dining.

This is actually the second time I have eaten at Oak and it was again, fantastic.
I booked a reservation at Oak as a farewell dinner for my fiancé. He was deploying and I wanted to give him a fantastic dinner, the night before he left, which Oak did flawlessly. I booked through open table and in the notes section I mentioned his departure etc.. The entire team was just phenomenal. They went above and beyond for us and truly made our last dinner together for almost a year absolutely incredible. I have only eaten at one other steak restaurant in downtown Charleston but Oak has my vote for sure. They are just magnificent all around.

The food was overall salty. The scallops were of good quality but were too salty. The roasted mushrooms had a good flavor but were also too salty. The lobster mac had a good flavor, but we didn't really taste the lobster in it, only the pasta and cheese. We were wanting a glass of Moscato di' Asti, but the bottle had been sitting for a while and it was flat. I wanted taste of it before I ordered a glass. I was offered other kinds of wine by the server who mentioned he was also a Sommelier, but we would have been more pleased if a new bottle was open. We would think that a Sommelier would realize that a new Moscato should've been offered in place of the flat one that I didn't care for. We couldn't get a second glass of Dalmore Scotch, so we continued to another location for more Dalmore Scotch and desserts.

We went there for New Years Eve. The food was very good, but the service was not great. Took almost a half hour for server to even come to our table. Service experience was just average. Our meal and overall experience was good though.

Have eaten here 5-6 times, typically rate this a 5. Dinner this night, New Year’s Eve, was poorly coordinated by the kitchen. Appetizers and salads came slow and at the same time, truffles were great but applied to wrong dish. Still a wonderful atmosphere, great drinks. Steaks best in town.

Made reservations and basically we sat at a bar table with bar wait staff . No wine offered & waiter would disappear for lengthy periods of time . Children were sitting at the bar behind us and people were extremely close to our table . Food was good except for the cold seared scallops . Overall very disappointing experience for its reputation .

We travel to Charleston once a year , and absolutely love to go back to a few favorite restaurants year after year. This year we decided to try the Oak Steakhouse as we had heard that it was started by someone who is originally from our hometown of Alexandria, Virginia. The upshot is that we absolutely LOVED everything about Oak Steakhouse. The N.Y. strip steak was absolutely delicious, as were the salads and all of the sides. We will definitely be returning for another meal on our next trip to Charleston !

Always a great place for a perfect evening. Celebrated our 48th Anniversary and the filets, sides, dessert and service were outstanding. The manager and hostess made us feel very welcome on our special occasion and our server, Oliver, was the best of the best. We always have a great experience at Oak!

Terrible service - had to get attention of waiter or assistant - beverage glasses left unfilled. Took an hour to get first course served. Poor presentation - filets alone on large plates. A five ounce tenderloin was very good but the plate was filled with enough fries for the table and overwhelmed the meat. Two filets ordered the same temperature but were cooked significantly different. Very, very loud. Could not carry on a conversation without screaming. Mixed grill had good quality meat - but why two beef selections?

From start to finish, it was a great evening. It feels nice when the hostess greets you by name on the way in. Lovely decor inside a historic building - classy without being too stuffy/formal.

Salad was surprisingly good! Lobster mac and cheese was fantastic choice as a side dish. The filet was perfectly cooked though I do wish I had tried a sauce with it just for added flavor. Crab cake was a bit of a letdown - I have had better - but I am stating that as a bit of a crab cake connoisseur with particular high expectations when it comes to crab cakes..... and this is a steak house, not a seafood place so it gets a free pass on that.

Note: if seated on the third floor, and depending on where you are seated, a streetlight can shine right at eye level, making it a bit awkward. Not the restaurant's fault - the waitstaff did make a mention of it while we were seated but I underestimated.

All of this was minor, especially after enjoying a bottle of wine with our meal. Speaking of wine, the waiter helped my wife choose a perfect wine (even gave her a sample taste before ordering the bottle). The little mini cranberry-muffins-to-go gift was a nice touch that we enjoyed the next morning for breakfast.

My wife and I had a great time; our meals were delicious and service was outstanding. We look forward to coming back again someday to try other menu items.

We love Oak and have been dining there for years. This is the first visit we have ever had any issues. The issues we're very minor, but noticeable because of our previous perfect experiences. Service seemed fine, however we never received bread and the appetizer we ordered was missing some items as well. Other than that our food was great and we enjoyed ourselves.

I had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfectly! Probably the best steak I’ve had! Dave was our server and was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu and was able to answer every question we had! Will be returning, and recommending Oak Steakhouse!
