    It was not good and we will not be back. They stuffed us in an overhang on the third floor and said it was our table. It’s def not a normal seat during a non-holiday. Gave us one other seating option after I said that wasn’t going to work. This option was the switch with diners that were also unhappy with their seat. It was embarrassing and degrading. As local downtown Charleston home owner and resident of 23 years, I thought Oak would do better.

    The food was not hot even the french fries . My steak was so grizzly and fatty I hardly had any to eat.The sauces were cool too. It was an enormous disappointment. Our waiter was nice, though. I would not return.

    When you want a really good steak and really professional service just go to Oak. Plain and simple. Skip the crowds, and the scene - and go to a REAL steak house! So good.

    I have enjoyed the food at Oak in the past, but last night the cowboy bone-in ribeye was tough, especially for $115. I would rather eat at home and control the quality. Disappointing. But the service was awesome. As always.

    Everything couldn’t have been better and all 5 of us agreed. Great steaks, perfectly cooked to order. I had Steak/frites with au poivre sauce, and an exquisite crème caramel. The frites were fried in duck fat w/just the right amount of truffles. It was authentically French. So much so, that even though I lived in France for 11 years, I felt Oak’s was better!

    OUTSTANDING!!! First time at this Oak Steakhouse, but it was just as wonderful as the one in Highlands! Chris, our server was amazing and food outstanding. I hate Brussel Sprouts…theres are to die for!!! I’m already craving more of them!!

    Oak is a fantastic place for ambiance. An older Charleston downtown building, 3 floors of service area, and a great lighting makes it phenomenal. Pricing is a little out of range.

    The Halibut in the gumbo and the steak was off the charts good. The specialty cocktails were great. The PB dessert is a must Brody our server was friendly and knowledgeable with the right mix of southern and NY personality.

    Service was superb. Noise level was crazy high. Caesar Salads were fresh but quite bland, soggy croutons. Steaks were pretty good. We’ve eaten at Halls and other local places but thought we’d give this a try. Not bad but not sure I got the value for dollars spent.

    Always a winner! Went early and had a booth in the bar area - great people watching. Crab cake appetizer was one of the best we've had. The burger and steak frites were both delicious. Our server, Brody, was great.

    We continue to enjoy Oak year after year. Oak is our go to restaurant for high days, holidays and family occasions. Service is impeccable, ambiance delightful and food delicious. Oak may be a little pricey, but worth the extra $$ for a very special meal and experience.

    The women in my group (3) was cold so I know that's hard to find a result but just something to look at. And all of the food was warm not very hot. Barely melt the truffle butter. Atmosphere, service and the customer service all around was amazing.

    Hands down, the best steak in Charelston. If you’re going to do this: do it right. Get the dry aged option. It was incredible. Sides are great, we had the crispy brussel sprouts & they are to die for. It is a little loud in there, but not overwhelming. Service was great, our waiter was very personable. I highly recommend Oak steakhouse. Expensive, but worth every Penny.

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. Like being in a dive bar complete with Halloween string lights slapped up on the bar except with $60 steaks. I don’t mind paying that much for a delicious steak but I do mind when there is no table cloth, a wooden chair, no ambiance whatsoever and family style sides that came off the Swanson truck. Our steaks were like eating charcoal bricks. DISGUSTING. I am a local and have dined here years ago. We brought friends from out of town and were so excited to eat here again. What happened to this place? I was so embarrassed. I will never ever ever go back. I will say the manager comped our steaks because they were inedible but still. Come on. This restaurant used to be so very nice……a place to celebrate special occasions……a little gem of Charleston. Now the only thing missing is the wooden cow out front dressed as a pirate for the kiddies to play on.

    Floor manager very unprofessional and not sure he understands hospitality. Got to the restaurant 10 mins prior to reservation they were ready to seat us. Our waiter Chris was friendly , knowledgeable about the GF options and was doing his best to get food to people. We ordered drinks. Great. Ordered food. Got salads and that is where it hit a road block. We did not get meals for another hour or more. Finally around 9:30 we got steaks (dry aged ribeye) super pricey. which were over cooked Chris was apologizing and the manager came by and said yep that looks over cooked and walked off. We will not return

    We were very unimpressed by the food at Oak Steakhouse. For a traditional steakhouse, you would expect the preparation and execution of that steak to be perfect, but it was lacking. Appetizers were not good. We ordered the scallops, carpaccio, and Cesar salad. I have never had such bad carpaccio, to be honest. We shared a ribeye and ordered it medium rare and it was slightly overcooked. The sides for the steak were decent. I enjoyed the bacon Mac and cheese. The mushrooms were good. The roasted broccoli was tasty, but more like stir fried and soggy than roasted. I was disappointed with the entire experience. They had all of the right things on the menu, but just not executed well and an expensive meal for what we received.
