A friend of mine and I hadn’t seen each other in a few years so we booked a dinner reservation at this restaurant so we could eat and catch up. Unfortunately it wasn’t a great place to do so. The tables were so close together you couldn’t get by without knocking over the drinks on the table next to you (nevermind hear every word the people next to you had to say). The food came out cold. The atmosphere was upbeat but also too loud to hear each other. Lastly- I do not like it when they bring out the entree while I’m still eating the appetizer (which they did). It’s just a small pet peeve. Beautiful building though.

Brunch was great. I opted for one of my personal favorites slightly modified.

The corned beef hash with eggs can’t be beaten. Service was outstanding. The bar was crowded perhaps due to a game.

A longtime favorite Boston option where I still long for the return of their classic Boston Cream Pie.

The dining room is stunning with high ceilings and beautiful architecture, perfect for date night. We had the mussels to start, then the chicken (him) and the swordfish (me) - all was excellent, tasty, cozy. I really want to go back and sample their smaller share plates, everything looks amazing.

The food was great, especially the flatbread! Bloody Mary was delicious. Our server was excellent, very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go again!

Nice enough place. Hostess very helpful with information about the area. Ordered Lobster Roll for me, my wife had Bacon Cheeseburger. While waiting for food, we decided to each take half a meal. Lobster roll was very good, maybe an 8 out of 10. Cheeseburger was way over cooked. Probably rated as a 2 out of 10. Can get a better burger for half the $22 price we paid anywhere. Very disappointing.

Very loud and tables are crowded together. We were staying in hotel and it was easy but we wouldn’t go again. Waitress rolled her eyes at me when I asked for a taste of the wine. She just wanted to turn the table and kept asking us if we were done. Food was just ok.

My family and I loved our late lunch at the Oak Bar. Our server was attentive and the GM of of the Oak Bar was very hospitable and accommodating. Thank you Daniel! We will be back soon.

We went here for Christmas Day dinner. They were offering a Fixed price menu for the holiday. However, no where did it mention that the regular menu would not be available. When we asked our server, Jake, about the availability of the regular menu, he unknowingly or unwillingly informed us that the regular menu was not available and walked away.
This was very disappointing, and we decided to leave after paying for our overpriced, underwhelming cocktails.
Even more disappointing was when we were leaving, we noticed other patrons enjoying their meals at other tables with items off the regular menu.
Not sure why the double standard.
Won’t be back.

On Xmas Day, the staff tried hard to keep the crowds happy. Ditto for the kitchen. I love the look and feel of Oak Bar, but would rate the food average. Market salad was nicely dressed but boring, and marred by two sad slices of pock-marked green apple. The tuna tartare, prime rib, soup and dessert, however, were fine. Our server was never far, so pacing of the meal was good. I'd come back for a quick bite at the gorgeous long bar, but probably not for dinner.

Always enjoy coming here, and the Christmas Eve brunch held up to my opinion.
My daughter is a vegan as well as gluten free. Tough combination. We called ahead of time to inform them of this, and they said the waitstaff would accommodate her. He did, and my daughter was surprised how much they had to offer.
Only problem I have with the Oak Bar, is the noise level. I can never hear the person two seats over.
I would highly recommend, especially for that special someone, for a special moment.
Enjoy 😊

Very busy place! Tables are very close together and the noise level is very energetic! Food and service was good. Be prepared for the prices. Drinks are very pricey! With that said, as you are there one can’t help thinking about the history of the hotel

Food quality had gone down since we last visited. Used to be well known for their hamburgers but they now press the meat too much and create an expensive chewy hockey puck. Very poor. Service is good though very old fashioned.

I had a drink at the bar before dinner, and was excited to try the food. The room is gorgeous, buzzy with energy but not too loud, and excellent service. But the food is dreadful. Things not cooked to order, the starter of crab and avocado toast was watery and soggy, and the steak simply did not taste right. It was so bad that my wife ordered a different steak, so she could have some protein. That one was cooked right, but still tasted bad. (Full credit on service - they comped us the repair steak.) The vegetable side was ok at best. The wine list was surprisingly pricey, with few US options available for under US$100 by the bottle.

Nice place for drinks, but I wouldn't advise eating here.

We were here to celebrate my parent’s 60th wedding anniversary. The hostess graciously accommodated my 86 y/o dad’s rollator and request for supportive seating. The same was offered to us later in the evening for a nightcap despite the vibrant & crowded bar and again during Sunday brunch despite heavy wedding volume. We appreciated the kindness, respect, impeccable service and delicious food options offered. Our waiter (Arturo?) and waitress (Vannia?) were terrific. We hope to return to this outstanding venue in the future. Thank you!

We requested a table near the fireplace only to learn they reconfigured the table set ups and now those fireplace tables are in the “red room” outside the main part of the restaurant. The red room is noisy, near a hotel entrance so we froze every time the door opened and it’s out is sight from the main dining room so we sat at the table for long periods of time without seeing our server.

Hadn’t been to the Copley Plaza Hotel in the past 5-6 years so I was happily surprised to see that the lobby/ballroom was still spectacular. The new Oak lounge/restaurant has been recreated into a gorgeous space. While I had gone in expecting fine dining, the experience was more like singles club/after work crowd. Lots of loud conversation, impolite jostling for bar/walkway position - absolutely impossible to have anything close to a quiet dinner with any semblance of romance. This is not to say the server (Javier) didn’t give 110% effort - on the contrary - he was terrific, considering his success negotiating a very crowded path from kitchen to table. Food was very good. All in all, we had fun because the people watching was so interesting. Just be prepared for loud & festive.

We had not been to the Oak Room in 10 years. Very disappointing what it has become. We were expecting the classic elegance of the dark wood and extensive menu. Now it’s garish and loud with very limited menu. They painted the gorgeous dark wood all white! Sad. Ar least the waitstaff was wonderful and still classy even though the venue was not. We won’t go back.

The Oak Bar has great gorgeous old world elegance and ambiance. We are always impressed with the grandeur of the room. That being said, the service does not live up to the impression. The servers are much too casual and almost aloof. Not the high-end attention to detail and high-level service I would have expected. Our drinks took a long time to arrive and when we wanted to order dinner, we never saw our server and had to ask for him. He was not helpful when we asked questions about the menu. The menu is a bit weird, we couldn't tell if it was just bar food, tapas or a dinner menu. The food was good. But the value wasn't there, very expensive night for a less-than-outstanding experience.

Stayed at the beautiful Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston where this restaurant is. Have dined here before. We had breakfast this time. Food was standard for breakfast; we had the 'oak' breakfast with coffee, juice, eggs, bacon&toast. Not cheap ($27 each). You are paying for the ambience and the service.

The food was very good, although the desserts are not their strong suit. The main dining area, is very loud, so if you want a conversation, I suggest the small room off to the lobby. I still like the old oak bar and its elegant seating and bar. I wish they hadn't changed it.
