Stayed at the beautiful Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston where this restaurant is. Have dined here before. We had breakfast this time. Food was standard for breakfast; we had the 'oak' breakfast with coffee, juice, eggs, bacon&toast. Not cheap ($27 each). You are paying for the ambience and the service.

Food was good, but the service was terrible and it was very cold in the restaurant which they could not adjust. You constantly had to look for your server in order to get what you wanted. Beautiful space though.

The new Oak Room has lost it's original charm. And $48 for a steak? Wow.

The food was very good, although the desserts are not their strong suit. The main dining area, is very loud, so if you want a conversation, I suggest the small room off to the lobby. I still like the old oak bar and its elegant seating and bar. I wish they hadn't changed it.

There was some kind of alarm that sounded towards the end of the meal. I hope everything is ok. We left right after the alarm/the lights were turned fully up.

The waitress was slow. The quality of food and drinks did not match the location, ambiance, or price. It was mediocre at best. I would not return or recommend this place, at least not for brunch.

Oak Long Bar is one of the more beautiful stops for a glass of wine in Back Bay. High painted ceilings, great people watching and if you get there early enough you can stag a comfy chair in front of one of the fire places. Unfortunately that's where the good news ends.
This is a loud, trendy bar that happens to sell food. Prices are high given the small portions and limited focus on quality. Service is inattentive including the painful "food auction" we have all experienced at lower end restaurants where a service stands at the end of the table and shouts what she is holding, waiting for someone to claim the prize.
The charcuterie was good though portions were silly. Avocado toast was a better "idea" than what we received. Scallops were terribly over cooked. Octopus was rubber and devoid of flavor. Brussel sprouts, blah. Lobster roll, fair, fries were worse than Denny's.
We love dining out and I rarely complain about the price. But five people at $400 and we left annoyed and hungry encourages me to tell you to stop here for a glass of wine before going to dinner at Mistral, Ostra or Sorellina, three wonderful restaurants near by.

The service and food standards have slipped so far here. We were given the wrong menus when seated, and our drinks order took more than 15 minutes to arrive. I had to ask twice for a second drink to be served -- a Diet Coke! The food was quite ordinary, too. The bread used to be wonderful here; not anymore. Sandwiches are no better than you'll find in dozens of other places. The restaurant is lovely and very convenient to Copley Square, but its standards have plummeted (while its prices have only gone up). I'm sorry to say that there are many better places to go without traveling far.

We went for my husband's birthday on Saturday night. We were sat right near the door and there was a very cold draft as well as AC blowing from the window ledge. There was a junkie hanging out next to the window in the street.
Our appetizer had two hairs in it. We told the waiter but nothing was done. After that my husband wouldn't eat so I ordered myself a salad and the steak, which was cooked perfectly.
Positively, they did greet us with prosecco & delivered a dessert for the occasion. Unfortunately he doesn't like sparkling wine and is allergic to custard. The waiters had excellent service, but I still don't believe my husband will ever return.

Our party of five had a love brunch here recently. Our server, whose name escapes me, was the best part of it. He was absolutely lovely and so helpful! The space is quite beautiful with high ceilings and a lot of natural light. The seating is very comfortable. Our cocktails (mostly a number of variations on a Bloody Mary) were quite good, although mine wanted for a bit more spice. The food was quite good although the kitchen inadvertently left a key ingredient out of my dish and it had to go back for remediation. Problem solved! Our brunch was leisurely and overall we felt this was good value for money given the wonderful ambience and service. We would return for all of these reasons as well as its central location in Copley Square.

We live in the neighborhood and have been longtime supporters of the Oak Bar. We were really disappointed in our meal. Has something changed? The pizza recipe has changed and the salad that was served to use looked and tasted like it had been sitting for days.

Great place of a drink, but we will not be dining there again any time soon :-(

Beautiful interior, great waiter (Shaq!), delicious bread, interesting people watching at the bar (that night), loud but fun, food delicious. Brought our daughter and her boyfriend, they really enjoyed it. If I were single, that might be the place I’d go! 😊

Really, really good food in a beautiful room with attentive service. Pricey, but we didn’t feel overly so for a special dinner. We shared starters instead of getting a main. Had mushroom toast (good crusty bread, wild mushrooms and ricotta?), lobster, steak tartare (nicely chopped, not ground) and roasted cauliflower. Drinks were excellent and custom designed for us based on our vague descriptions of taste preferences.

My only gripe concerns the televisions over the bar. The sound is off, but the bright flashing light was distracting and entirely out of keeping with the elegance of the room. I know hotel bars especially like to keep their bar patrons happy, but this is not a separate room and there wasn’t any way to avoid seeing it (plus, there didn’t seem to be a vast audience for it at the bar). This is becoming a bad American trend and I usually avoid restaurants that have fallen prey. We really loved the dinner but this is one reason I might hesitate to return. If you must have a tv, turn it off at the dinner hour.

The restaurant was nice but does not compete with so many others in Boston today. The location at the Copley is its best quality. The drinks were good and priced as one would expect. The menu lacked in my opinion. Staff was gracious. In fact, when the restaurant advertises casual, the staff are in jeans. I was hoping for the price that the dress would be a little higher end casual.

We sat at the bar and near the hearth , where yummy food is cooked .It was so much fun watching the cooking being done and the skilled and very friendly bar tenders making cocktails. The small plates were so tasty. Highly recommend the octopus, wild mushrooms tartine, avocado and crab tartine, the lamb meatballs and the pork belly!

Fantastic atmosphere. You enter a special “old elegance meets contemporary” space. Sophisticated, energetic scene all evening.
Only disappointment was the very limited entree selection and lack of thoughtful vegan or vegetarian dishes.
Great apps and outstanding desserts.

I love the ambience of the restaurant and dine there often. The service was good but not great this time around. I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich which had too much bread and was lacking in taste. This particular lunch was a bit disappointing. Next time, I'll order the cobb or I'll try the turkey sandwich.

We stopped in for something to eat after the theater. Earlier I had to change the reservations to a later time and the hostess was just great. Very accomodating and friendly. It is an 83 seat bar and it was just packed. The noise level is off the charts. We had a flat bread pizza which was very good and a few cocktails. I was given the wrong check charging me for 3 Titos in addition to the Stoly I had. She told me it was the right check they didn't have a Stoly button so it got charged under Titos. Right on the check was the charge for the Stoly. She made the correction with no apologies. I would have drinks there again but it is way to loud for dinner. More of a younger crowd.

Pre-symphony dinner - food wasn’t great; drinks were fine. We had trouble finding the restaurant- there’s no sign outside and when we called one of staff didn’t think to tell us it was inside a hotel.

Otherwise the staff was fantastic.
