Wonderful dinner for our family celebrating a college graduation. It was a very busy weekend of celebrations in Boston so the restaurant was completely full and very busy yet our waitress and all the the staff were attentive and calm (and so knowledgeable!). We all got filets and salmon and all were delicious and cooked perfectly. Grill 23 is the perfect place to celebrate and splurge!
Music too loud, a/c too high, food lukewarm, good drinks, excellent waitress.
We were there to celebrate Mother's Day -the food was great, the service was attentive and we were thrilled with the experience.
We had an outstanding time at dinner on Saturday night. The food was outstanding, and we were a tad hesitant about eating a meal there. However...everything from the warm pretzels to the beet salad to the delicious salmon was prepared perfectly. The four of us had a spectacular time. Thank you...thank you.
Room is very noisy, the food while very good is overpriced, does not seem like a very good value
Great food/drinks. The table was cramped and by the door so that made things difficult to enjoy the experience
I think the Long Bar needs to clean their wing back chair covers. As we sat at our table, I noticed many had food stains on them. That is a big turn off. Otherwise the place is great
The service was exceptional, but breakfast was a bit bland, especially the eggs. I would have expected higher quality based on the location and price.
Food is excellent and atmosphere is great.
I met a friend for breakfast and we were given a great table. The service and food were fantastic. I recommend the "Red Quinoa" which is eggs with healthy grains and kale. The beef hash was declared to be excellent by my guest. We love this place.
Understated elegant atmosphere.
Anyways a pleasure to come! The food is great and the staff is really dedicated. My friend and I had a wonderful breakfast
Absolutely amazing food ! Squash soup was exceptional. Beautiful space with wonderful details expertly restored. Just a bit noisy though but will definitely be back!
Very spicy chicken and vegetables, drowning in brown sauce not described in the menu
Wonderful vinegar fries!
Requested mustard with them, which never arrived. Server seemed attentive in other areas: we requested a 2014 Pinot noir, and a 2013 arrived. When we commented it was different from that listed, he produced a 2014 bottle of same vineyard.
Dark woods and high ceilings make the place Loud
I would bring the music down a level. We had some difficulty hearing each other.
This is a lovely place for a special meal. The food is excellent and the service attentive. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but they make it worth your while.
The restaurant itself is beautiful. We had breakfast and the menu was very limited. My daughter had chicken and waffles which she said was very good. My waffles were cold and the sausage I ordered came 10 minutes later. They were not hot either. When we received the bill, I was stunned to see that a cup of plain coffee was 7 dollars! And we had to grab creamer from another table. So all together close to $65.00 for cold breakfast waffles and coffee.
Oak Long Bar is a reliable "go-to" place for a business lunch for 2 - 4 people. The menu is small but interesting, the food is served quickly without fuss. Always delicious and satisfying. The waitstaff is professional but not fussy, and you can linger without getting rushed along. Very relaxed.
I just added this to my list of "must stop by" places when I am in Boston. Staff in incredible! Ambiance is energetic and classy. Cocktails are well done!
Best dining in Boston
We waited 30+ min for a waiter to acknowledge us with having a reservation for 8 people. Then waited 45 minutes for drinks. We had empty drinks and I had to get up and find someone to get a second round. Our waiter never checked on us. When they brought everyone’s food but left out two people for 10-15 minutes I finally complained to a manager. This was the worst service I’ve ever had at any restaurant. With $400 bill you’d think they would have taken care of us but they didn’t. I have never complained before and I can honestly tell you even with great food/atmosphere I will NEVER go back nor will I recommend it.
My friend and I came to OAK to celebrate and we had an awesome experience. We walked in and the restaurant was beautiful [high ceilings, comfortable seating] and had the best experience with our server, Javier, and the hostess Lucille. We will definitely be back.
Love the grand atmosphere here, and every dish was exceptionally delicious. The bar area was terribly loud though, and I was glad that our table was all the way in the front near the window, so that we were able to have a conversation without yelling.
Great, but a noisy place. Good food would certainly go again.
I've been a fan of the OAK Long Bar for a long time, well before it's remodel. But all my experience there has been around cocktail hour, which is one of the nicest and most elegant cocktail spots in the city. My recent lunch experience was very disappointing. The service was terrible, and it tainted everything else.
The reason I would not recommend this restaurant - at least not to anyone dining alone - and have a low service rating is because after seating me, the restaurant spent half the time trying to move me to accommodate a large table next to me. I watched the waiter, host and manager have two conversations while looking at me and the two tables and then send the host over to ask me if I would be more comfortable by the fire, then again at a high top, etc. I finally asked if there was a problem with where I was sitting, only to be told they were just concerned for my comfort. Really they wanted to add my table to the other group. They finally put an extra chair at the end of the neighboring table since they couldn’t get me to move.
If they had just asked instead of trying to lie about my comfort, I would have gladly accommodated them. Instead they made a single diner feel less welcome and less valued than a large group. Or, maybe that was the message they wanted to convey? Mission accomplished!
Food was great and the restaurant was beautiful.
While the setting is absolutely beautiful, I don't think we will be back. This was our second time for brunch. When we went the first time, it took an insane amount of time to get our food. Though the manager and the server were fantastic giving us free monkey bread, fruit, etc. And then they cut the bill in half.
I decided to try it again because they were so nice and we were a group of 9! We sat in a lovely location in the back. It took a long time for the food to come out...again. The server was quite nice but it really was super slow. One order was wrong.
Again, beautiful setting but probably won't be back unless I have lots and lots of time!
Great service, very attentive wait staff. Food was hot and delicious when served. Delightful..
It must have been an off night, but the service was incredibly poor. Long delays in receiving drink orders, apps, and then our meal. I spoke to our server and the manager quickly intervened, which I was grateful for. But all in, this business dinner should not have taken almost 4 hours for a party of 3.
We were very disappointed! We were expecting an elegant dining room not a hotel lounge. It’s very disappointing that an elegant upscale hotel got rid of its beautiful restaurant. Do not recommend this place and will not go again.
Good food and drinks, but lots of noise. Service was very attentive.
Drinks and food were good.
Service was spotty.
Major screw up with credit card which was charged 3 times for the bill. The restaurant worked it out in the end but it never should have happened.
We often eat at OAK Long Bar when we have events to attend in Boston. Love the high ceilings, cosy wing chairs and buzz. Food is great, service is extraordinary, cocktail and wine list extensive. Love the small plates to share. It is a noisy place but it is a bar vibe and the noise comes from a lot of enthusiastic people enjoying being together.
My favorite! This restaurant has it all. Peeky toe crab toasts offer my food nirvana. Beautiful table warmed by fireplace.
Oak Long Bar is one of my go-to spots for cocktails and brunch (monkey bread forever!), but tonight was just a couple rounds of drinks with friends. Our superb waitress Lydia absolutely made our night—so friendly and fun, thank you so much!
Beautiful setting, fantastic food, amazing service. Great people watching too!
Super loud and overpriced
Great service and food! Perfect for brunch!
