OAK Long Bar + Kitchen

Beautiful restaurant, very, very noisy. Service started bad and progressed to satisfactory. Food was ok not great - overpriced given the quality. Wines also overpriced . We had breakfast the following morning at it was great. Service good, less crowded and food was first class. $7 per person for coffee is a bit much?
Oak Bar is very classic old Boston. The space is fun and drinks are good. Service was just ok. Lobster roll was really sad, especially considering what you have to compete with in Boston. Overall nice ambiance for drinks and snacks, but not the best food.
A wonderful night out. The ambience is great. Food and drink menus are varied and had great choices for everyone in our party. The seating being half couches and half chairs was a bit uncomfortable for some. Could be a tad noisy because the bar was quite busy. Had breakfast the next morning (stayed overnight in the hotel) and it was wonderful.
Great food and service, nice decor. We sat at the bar and had a fantastic lunch. Good wine pairing too
Oak Long Bar set the tone for a much needed date night. My date very much so was impressed by the ambience and overall vibe. Service was very prompt, professional, and amicable.
I’ve been here a number of times. The service is always indifferent. It’s fine for breakfast, but this was for an afternoon coffee, business conversation. The music was too loud, and they seemed put out when I asked them to lower the volume. Then the server mixed up all of our beverages. For the price, really mediocre experience.
This place is amazing! Super spacious with comfortable seating and the atmosphere is warm and cozy at the same time. I had the lobster roll and gnocci one day and it was fantastic. The corned beef hash for breakfast. Everything melts in your mouth. Go to this restaurant if you can!
Always a delight to see Lucille, the hostess. She is so kind and friendly, she makes you feel like you are being invited into her home.
Favorite place in Boston... great food, libations and atmosphere! My happy place!!
Noni, the hostess is super friendly. She makes sure that you have a good experience.
The restaurant hostess was fabulous and seated my sister & I at a round table that was very comfortable and allowed us to have a great conversation.
Oak Bar is a favorite destination and is a gorgeous space. It is more than appropriate for business lunches and perhaps a splurge on the personal side. I've had two business breakfasts there recently and the most recent time was just a bit surprised to see that each cup of BREWED COFFEE (not specialty drinks) cost $7! And each egg added to a non-egg breakfast entrée was $8! As the waiter said when I asked to confirm these charges, "that's why I work here". Enough said - a special place with wonderful food but also some "special" pricing!!
This usually a five star experience but for the first time ever, the food wasn’t perfect: the hamburgers were all over cooked. That being said I love this place. It’s been updated wonderfully so it’s ver good for any age or occasion! Long live the old Oakroom now the Oak long Bar. My new favorite drink - the Chai Manhattan.
We enjoyed the building, the food and the service. The only concern would be the noise level but probably nothing to be done about that. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Went here for a friends birthday brunch. It was AMAZING! The food was phenomenal. The service was exceptional as well. Enjoyed every second and would absolutely go back! Thank you!
Service was sub par, drinks are exorbitantly priced, noise level makes it difficult to hold a normal conversation. We all had burgers which were very good.
For those that have been in Boston for many years it’s not the Oak Bar that you would remember.
Fantastic hostess’s and service.
This place is great! It is in the Fairmont hotel. The restaurant is so beautiful, it is worth even coming by just for a drink. The ambiance is ideal. The food and cocktails were great. I know this sounds crazy but order the carrots dish and the hearth bread, SO good.
Excellent food and service. Repeat customers are recognized and acknowledged. Experienced and professional bar staff.
Well run restaurant! Our table was ready on time and the service was really spot on. There is a small number of entrees but a good variety and the food was excellent. We had both dinner and breakfast here and both were good however I would have to say that the dinner was better than the breakfast.
Service was amazing and the evening was a lot of fun. The food, however, was somewhat mediocre.
It was great we originally were only 4 but had 5 additional join and the staff made every effort to accommodate. Our server was on top of our entire meal. Also made aurenour drinks were first up through a very crowded bar. Always a great complement to the beautiful surroundings.
When I walk into the OAK Long Bar + Kitchen I am always greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome. A visit to see my daughter in Boston wouldn't complete without dining here. One of my favorite items on the menu is the mushroom flatbread pizza. The drinks (especially when made by Phil) are exceptional. He makes my favorite "How do you do" even when it isn't on the special list. We especially enjoy sitting at a hightop. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
As a tour guide in Boston I recommend Oak Long Bar as much as I can, especially for brunch. The food, although pricey, matches the glamour of the bar’s interior in taste and style. The cocktails are creative and classy and there is simply no more beautiful, historic, atmospheric place in Boston to sit at the bar and sip. (On a personal note, PLEASE bring back The Fireside Chat!!)
Special shout out to the gracious and fun service provided by Johnathan! And to the monkey bread—a brunch MUST.
Awesome food and almost psychic service. Masterful!
New year get together with friends
Great service, fantastic food
Anniversary on New Years Eve. Before we went in I looked at the menu online which said the Oak Bar Kitchen would be serving its regular menu in addition to a special NYE menu. Upon arrival waitress informed us the chef had changed his mind and was just going to serve the special menu which we found to be extremely limited. Waitress was quite abrupt and not very helpful. We got married at the Copley Plaza Hotel on Dec 31, 1994 so it was our 24th wedding anniversary. Fortunately the manager was kind enough to let us order from the regular menu when we said we had been looking forward to that and not the special edition NYE menu. Management/chefs should fulfill what was advertised.
Great Hot Spot on NYE. Had a late lunch, Hamburger & drinks were outstanding! Definitely will return
Typically we love this place but apparently even with a reservation, it is not the place to come on NYE afternoon. Our service was lousy and so not up to their standards. Same can be said for the foods. We also had people crowding into our table from the bar. So disappointing from a place I have always loved.
We went NYE and it was a bit hectic but the gentleman who greeted us initially was apologetic and helpful. The food and cocktails were fantastic... as well as the ambiance!
I always thoroughly enjoy the Oak Bar, esp at the Holiday time as it has a great Vibe and ambiance. Feels so like a NYC hot bar scene. Like another place. The food was tasty and creative. However, felt the lobster app was too pricey for the small amount received. Would not do that again!
We arrived five minutes early for an 11:15am reservation for brunch and were seated immediately. However it took 15 minutes before the waiter took our order for drinks and they did not arrive until 11:45 am. To sit and wait half an hour for a Bloody Mary is ridiculous. We were seated to the left of the door from Copley Square. Our table had a sofa/bench on one side which was extremely stained and dirty as well as worn on the edges. I did not even want to sit on it. I am very surprised that a hotel of this caliber would allow something so disgusting to be used.
Amazing New Years eve...Filet was out of this world...and some of the best oysters we have ever had!
Food is always good and the atmosphere is very pleasing. We went early for breakfast this time so not crowded but the service wasn't great. Had to ask for salt and pepper (none on table and none offered) for my omelet and then the pepper was empty and ha to hunt down the waiter again. Beverages too expensive. $7 for a cup of tea and any juice. I would still go back, food is good.
Service and food were great. We were seated in an odd section and felt like we were outside the restaurant looking at everyone having fun. Waiter made up for it and food was really good. If you go make sure you sit at or near the bar.
I booked, directly with the hotel, a champagne breakfast for our anniversary. Upon arriving we were told that they did not do champagne breakfasts! After a little bit of confusion the staff really stepped up and provided champagne and fresh fruit in addition to the normal fare - for no extra cost.
We have stayed at the hotel numerous times and are happy to see the level of service remains high
It was for our Christmas brunch. Had a wonderful time!
Christmas Eve is a tough night and there are a lot of pretenders out and about with unrealistic expectations. We were seated 45 minutes late, and we had no problem with this. The space is outstanding, although two smaller spaces (to the left of the main entrance from the street and at the back near the hotel lobby) are most definitely second tier spaces and you feel a bit left out and miss the ambiance of the main space. We were in the grand center space along the windows (very nice). My wife and daughters thought the food was very good, I will call it good with roasted vegetables that had been reheated and a modest piece of salmon that was thin and a bit overdone. The lobster bisque was similarly good but not memorable. Staff was courtesy and attentive. Overall, a positive experience and we look forward to other visits outside the stresses inherent to Christmas eve.
Waitress seemed in a hurry for us to leave
