Oak- Laguna Beach
We had a great time and the staff was very nice! The food and drinks where amazing.
Overall was pretty disappointed with our experience. Oak has really good reviews on Yelp, so I was excited to try it and have a nice meal with my boyfriend during a little weekend getaway. We had a 7:30 reservation and were running 5 minutes late. I called the restaurant to let them know we would be running a few minutes late, and the man on the phone said he would move our reservation to 7:45. Um, okay? So we get there at 7:35, and ended up waiting 15 minutes to be sat as they did not seat us until 7:50 - just a bad look to give our table away that quickly and make us wait.
We were sat at the same time as another couple and I couldn't help but notice they were getting way better service than us. The service in general was sloooooow, yet the food was coming out extremely fast. We got our appetizer before our drinks. The food was okay, but extremely over-priced. We didn't get any entrees as we were warned by a Laguna local earlier in the day they were not worth it.
As a previous server I could tell this place was all about turning tables which I don't appreciate it. When I'm dropping $200 on a dinner for two, don't rush me.
Out server Javier was AMAZING. Ordered egg benedict and it was ok i will probably order another dish next time
Such an incredible evening with terrific food, great service and all with a great ambiance. This dining experience was business centric in nature and everyone in the party had a magnificent time sitting on the balcony, having a great conversation, all with a few parties in the main dining room. Thank you Oak for the great evening!
Both times that I’ve been to Oak have been fantastic. The staff seems to take pride in what they do and making sure the guests have what they need.
It was great!
Great drinks, great food and live music! Highly recommend the portabella mushroom app and the fried chicken entree.
Love the atmosphere, view and food. Staff was polite, friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Great spot for a nice dinner or casual drink. Ample parking in the garage.
Ordered steak Benedict, and a Wagyu Cheeseburger (well done, no tomatoes or thousand island). The Benedict came out fine, the burger was made wrong, with both things I didn’t ask for. After waiting 10 minutes, my boyfriend was done with his meal and my burger came out wrong again. The server was unapologetic and the experience was just blah for a $20 burger.
We went there for lunch on a Friday. The service was great and the food was very good. It was practically empty. They have parking downstairs and they validate it.
Oak was so good, we came back again three days after our initial visit. Both times we loved it. Food choices are very interesting and demonstrate great talent by the chef. The bar is beautiful and the place has a great vibe. One of the owners, RoseMary Polenski, was present last night. She certainly understands what it takes to run a good restaurant.
She oversees a genuinely nice and capable staff. I look forward to returning on my next visit to the area, and would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a great meal and evening.
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Our reservation was delayed but the staff made up for it with attentive service. The Brussel sprouts were superb. Only drawback is the noise level. The music was so loud that guests were raising their voices to be heard.
Noisier and more casual than I thought it would be but a great atmosphere and anything goes dress vibe. Mix of people from dates, to celebrations to families off the beach. Cool bar area that looked like it could be a fun scene for a pop in. Our laid back, knowledgeable server made honest recommendations for both dining and drinks.
Excellent food and service!
The food and drinks were pretty good, but I felt it was overpriced. Our server did not communicate well, and he was not able to describe flavors -- just that things were "really good". Also, I was charged $1.50 for my cocktail to be served over ice, which is ridiculous. I was not made aware of this until I reviewed my bill. It must have been some very fancy ice.
Great food (ahi tuna and stuffed mushrooms are amazing). Dining on the patio is great - and shuts down most of the noise from inside. Even received a nice complimentary dessert for my birthday. Would definitely go back.
This place was fabulous top to bottom! Drinks were great and everything we ordered was perfection. The food was fresh and full of flavor. We highly recommend this place and we cannot wait to visit again.
Didn’t have a table ready for us and made us wait 15 mins. Didn’t give us patio table requested either
The food is amazing! Love this place!
Excellent food and nice view partially compensated for the subpar service. Prices were Laguna-high, and if the service was as good as the food, I wouldn't mind. Excellent Ceviche, Salads and Signature Chicken entrees. Nice atmosphere and 2 hour parking validation in the building below. However ... we ran into several service issues that the waiter didn't even attempt to resolve. If they fix these things, we'll definitely be back for an outside table.
Amazing food and cocktails! Great environment and experience every time that I go. Will definitely be back Asap!
LOVE this place!! Everytime we go, it's a great time! Food is good and service and staff are even better.
Best restaurant in town! Any time a friend or family visits me, we go to Oak.
This was my first time at Oak and it won’t be my last! I started out with a nice/tangy margarita. Fr
The food was excellent except my medium filet mignon was more rare than medium.
Wow, first time here and loved it! Fun atmosphere, view of the ocean, open patio dining, staff knowledgeable and nice. Amazing and very flavorful food! We ordered the duck lollipops, yum, and the best ceviche we have ever tasted! the tacos were all super tasty too! I just want to go back to try everything else!
Met friends for dinner there and loved the inside/outside spaces (despite the bright sun) and decor. All our meals were great: fried chicken, salmon, stir fry and ribeye. It was Saturday evening, so of course it was busy but the noise level was SO. LOUD. It was hard for us to talk over the tables around us with voices really raised. We did find pay parking under the building with ease, which is a bonus in Laguna Beach. I’d love to go back.
Very loud in restaurant but everything else was very good
Always a great experience, yet to be disappointed, a bit pricey but overall worth it-
Excellent entrees. Everything is very well prepared and tasty. A bit loud, but just know that's part of the environment. Would come back again any time. Great mix of items on the menu.
Nice location, good food, but a little expensive. Kid options were minimal, but good portions. We had a very attentive server and it was a nice evening before the art show in Laguna.
Food, drinks, service was great. Definitely going back soon.
Great food and service! The menu offers a wide variety, so there is something for everyone.
I have been here before but the other night (a Sunday) it started out fine but deteriorated as the evening went on. The server, while friendly, was not too attentive and some things had to pointed out more than once. Dump the chicken sandwich - one of the worst things I've ever seen come out of a kitchen - so dry, tasteless - left most of it behind. The noise level can be deafening and watch where you sit around sundown . Some spots will have you calling for a sun shield and they seem to have no way to correct that particular item. I like the place, the setting but geez it will probably only lure me back on a quite off-season night. One item in their favor in the town of parking nightmares - they will validate your parking in the garage.
Excellent atmosphere, food and attentive service. Would definitely come back!
The food and service was fantastic... the vibe was fun- super upbeat. We loved the open air room and the awesome guitarist. We will be back!
For the prices, the food should be much more interesting and tasty.
Creative menu and lively atmosphere. You're paying the price for being in Laguna Beach with a potential ocean view even if it's on the mauka side of PCH. A party of four including an alcoholic beverage, main entree, shared dessert, and no appetizers will be $200 before tip. If you've got the cash, it's worth trying.
It definitely lived up to the many positive reviews! The food is beautifully prepared, delicious and unique. Chef himself brought out one of our dishes. The service was fantastic—welcoming, attentive, friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our requests to make our friend’s birthday get together special (they gave us the best table in the house and gladly moved us when it turned out too sunny for us). Overall glad we chose this place. Would definitely love to come back.
