Oak - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Extensive and interesting wine list including many choices by the glass, and a nightly flight special. Food menu has options for meat lovers, seafood fans, and vegetarians. We had a range of salads, entrees and sides and everyone was pleased with their choices, so much that we plan to go back again to try additional items. Our server was friendly and professional, and knew about the food preparations and wine options.
Fabulous all around!! We had given up on this restaurant, but decided to give it another try after 2+ years...were we ever happy that we did! The food was creative and delicious . The atmosphere has always been elegant and comfortable. The service was superb! The staff was attentive and gracious. We can’t wait to come back!!
Regarding music, wrong choice for conversation and played over the top too loud.
Everyone said that's the way the owner likes it. We asked three times to lower the volume. Nothing happened. We asked for the manager and he finally fixed the problem.
The server was REALLY EXCELLENT. The food was excellent.
But the noise was inexcusable.
Enjoyed atmosphere very much. Three of us had dinner and was able to converse privately. Most restaurants place tables inches apart and blaring music. Oak places tables at respectful distances and music also at respectable volume. Stacy's recommendations greatly appreciated and service outstanding. Meal and dessert was outstanding. Management even checked on us and personally thanked us. Definitely will return!
We asked to be seated in the garden room as it was nice and quiet so we could have a conversation without a lot of noise. It was wonderful. The jidori chicken was fabulous and something i had never tried. I thought it might be like tandoori chicken, but in fact we googled it and found it to be a mixed breed free range grain fed chicken which originated in Los Angeles and has a fantastic flavor. Service was efficient but not hovering. Definitely one to go back to.
Walking into Oak, its Beautiful! Loved the decor and the service was outstanding. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and happy to help. The wine list was extensive but very overpriced in my opinion. While a realize there is a markup, double the price is a little crazy. I would have liked to see more medium price ranges available. The food was good and very creative, but not great, It was a little disappointing.
Was celebrating my mom's 85th birthday and they made her feel so special from the moment we walked in the door till desert. Food was outstanding as always and the service was perfect. Attentive but never too much or overbearing. Branzino is spectacular. This has been my 3rd or 4th time in several months. Love this place and can't thank them enough for making a special day even more memorable for my mom and family.
Food here was excellent. Their restaurant week menu featured a 4 course meal. Every course was great. The smoked vanilla ice cream with the brownie was a bit strange, but the red fish, pork, fried quail, and relleno were dynamite. The Hall cabernet was also great. Will definitely return.
We had not been here in a while and so glad we stopped back during Restaurant Week! They had a great menu posted online and we thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING, from the WAGYU beef creative panko crusted app to the d'auvergne cheese plate and brownie ice cream desserts! It was my husband's birthday and they surprised him with a beautiful envelope with a special handwritten note. Since we were 4 people, we were able to taste 4 of the 5 entree choices - blackened redfish, pork secreto, wagyu short ribs and the filet mignon. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The only negative was the loud music and screens, which I don't even know who was watching but they just did not fit into the "oaky" decor, with changing tree projections and unique light fixtures.
We came for a late lunch. I liked the trendy decor and quiet ambience. The service is excellent. Our server, Tyler, was super friendly and attentive. We would recommend the Oak Burger: juicy, flavorful, and topped with delicious Serrano peppers and grilled onions with a side of more grilled Serrano peppers and housemate chips. I would like to come back for dinner!
The food was as delicious as it was unique; however, the portions are incredibly small for the prices they're charging. The prices for plates are comparable to restaurants in NYC; wake up call!!! Dallas will never be like NYC!
Service was extremely slow in all aspects of dining -- ordering, delivery, refills.
