The tiger roll was amazing! The sucker punch was an awesome drink, too. The staff was great and very attentive.

The sushi we had was GREAT - and our party of seven was complimentary of the food and service. Our server even brought extra candles after learning one guest loved them.
I haven’t been here in awhile but the food wasn’t great like it used to be. It was just okay, considering the cost. However, compliments to the bartender on the great lemon drop martinis! Service was good and I love the decor. Just wish the good had been better.
I guess the question is, "Should a restaurant be as good today as it was pre-pandemic?" With all the difficulty in staffing and the supply chain, I can understand if we need to cut restaurants some slack.
First let me say the food was good. I my girlfriend (with food allergies) and I both enjoyed our meals. Also the service was attentive and prompt. Paula did a great job of taking care of us.
It was Friday night and the first issue was parking. The Oak I remembered had valet parking (part of the reason I chose it)... not now. Oak shares a parking lot with two other restaurants and we drove around the parking lot looking for a place to park. When we couldn't find a spot, I ran into the restaurant to let them know we were there for our reservation, but couldn't find a place to park. The Hostess' only suggestion was to park behind a building on the far side of the parking lot. We did, but were concerned about our safety and hoped our car didn't get broken into. Unfortunately, this put us both in a bad mood and was not a good start to our Oak experience.
Next, I ordered a drink and app. The drink came, followed by Paula minutes later letting me know that the Quail app was no longer available and asked if I wanted to make another choice. Disappointed, I made another choice and our date night proceeded. Strike two.
Since my girlfriend doesn't drink, I typically order wine by the glass. Unfortunately, I didn't recognize many of the wines by the glass and the descriptions were not very specific. In addition, the wine by the glass were incredibly expensive for what you were getting. Possibly, this is incentive to order a bottle? Paula poured me a small taste and the wine was ok, but tasted a bit old. When asked when the bottle was opened, the reply was two days ago, but the bartender thought it was fine. Really? In fairness Paula offered to have the bartender open a new bottle but I declined.
I guess I expected more when dropping $200 on dinner.
Our experience was fantastic! The food and service were both excellent, and our drinks were very generous. We will definitely be back!
Probably one of the worst dining experiences I have had
I feel like I was lied to about the “missing bottles of wine” just to charge me more for a “supplemental bottle”… ($50 more)… the food took forever. It was mediocre. It was embarrassing to take someone in a date there. I will never go back and I will make sure everyone is aware of how bad it really is.
Service was extremely poor and food was just average.
I almost never write reviews, but this is easily the worst meal I have eaten in years. We have dined at Oak numerous times in the past and loved it, but we actually wondered if they were going out of business as the food was such poor quality. Our Waitress was lovely and seemed to be trying to compensate for some known deficiencies from the start. We were seated at 7:30pm, but she informed us that many items in the menu (all sushi, lamb, chicken, pasta, and one fish) were not available. We have adored the charcuterie board in the past and started with this. Nothing our waitress identified as being on her list of descriptions for the board was present. She said she would ask, but never returned…I’m sure she couldn’t bring herself to actually describe to us what they had served!! This board consisted of poor quality prosciutto, very thick cut pancetta (too think and tough to eat), something inedible that tasted like baloney, salad grade blue cheese crumbles, salad grade goat cheese crumbles, basic sliced Swiss cheese, 5 olives, some old grapes, and a mountain of water crackers that actually hid the plate when it arrived. It was almost laughable it was so bad…clearly they were also out of the charcuterie board and just made one of repurposed ingredients from other meals. We left 3/4 of it untouched and no one asked why?? Pork chop, Brussels were good but chop was over cooked a bit. Scallops were great but only 3 and served with a couscous that was supposed to be topped with onions, roasted tomatoes, and olives. Instead it arrived with olives and grapefruit…seriously inedible! Thank goodness they still have a good wine list!!
Eve was amazing! Sat at the bar as I was alone traveling for business. Beautiful place. Octopus and scallops were heavenly. The sweet nuts in the salad were my fave!
Terrible service. Food was tasteless. Check was on incorrect. Seems like they were was off their game.
My wife and I were there for a dinner for Fathers Day on the Saturday night before. Has been over a year since we were last there and that was for our anniversary in February 2020. Did not go during the pandemic.
Food was excellent but menu needs to be refreshed/expanded to include other choices for entrees.
Service was very attentive but maybe overly as they seemed to be rushing our orders. Was not a casual dinner like we enjoy. When I had made the reservations, there was a note about a two hour limit which we suspect is part of the reason for the hurried nature of the evening. Didn’t really like it, but she did slow down once we questioned it.
Figure things are still in a state of flux from re-opening.
Food was not worth the price and quantity was lacking in sides.
Highly recommend the charcuterie board and wagyu filet. Everything was exceptional!
We enjoy taking our kids out to different dining experiences. Oak was good at accommodating our kids.
The Bar Manager was outstanding!!!
Food was good, but nothing special. Service was great. Music was a bit loud for intimate conversations.
Wonderful experience overall; stunning atmosphere, delicious cuisine and a wide variety of strong drinks. Would recommend to everyone! Eric and entire staff were lovely and attentive.
Went to Oak for my 30th birthday! Everything was so wonderful!
It was just a so-so experience. The best thing we ordered was the meatballs with cheese grits. Everything else was mediocre. Steak was over cooked. The atmosphere and decor was very nice. If you’re looking for a steak, go to Bob’s.
It was so disappointing. We were celebrating our 2 daughters’ graduation. We arrived and the place was empty we were then seated on an adjacent room which was freezing, dark and horrible. I asked to be seated on the main dining room and my request was denied although the place was empty. I had a reservation and was given the worst table. Our food was sub par, everything needed extra seasoning and had zero salt. Prices are expensive, service was ok, attitude of hostess was terrible and food was too. We won’t be back. It is a shame because it used to be a very good restaurant.
Bar is nice, drinks were good. Fish and steak were over cooked. Service was pleasant. It just wasn’t anything stellar to make us want to return.
Oak is usually awesome. Maybe it was just a bad night.

If I could rate a zero star I would. Honestly the worst dinner experience we’ve ever had. Felt like we were on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Food was horrible. Waiter (who was also the bartender) was a nice guy but not a professional waiter. Ambience was terrible. Very few other patrons there. We sent food back and left to go to another restaurant.

When we are sit, then we found out that 2 of the 3 appetizers of the Mother’s Day menu are not available anymore.

Very disappointed. We have been to Oak before and it was great. This Mother’s Day brunch was a disaster. Under staffed and over whelmed was the theme for this day.
I do appreciate that our waitress warned us that the kitchen was backed up 30-40 minutes but it still made for a not fun experience. Add to it that our table was under the AC vent and they couldn’t move us (no idea why).
I’d hate to say we won’t go back since we loved it before but not sure I’d risk the experience again considering there are so many other great Dallas restaurants.

We had been to Oak many times in the past and had great experience.
Unfortunately, this was the worse dining experience ever.
They were way under staffed.
Never got our meal after 45 mins of being seated.
Had to leave since both Mom and Child were exhausted.
Our server who is not a trained chef was serving as our waiter and chef. The food was disappointing and the service was understandably lacking since the waiter was also cooking our meal. Nothing was done to make amends for our disappointing mother's day experience other than a brief verbal apology. We were still charged full price nearly $300 for a disappointing meal cooked by an unqualified server. We will not be returning to this establishment. Completely disappointing.
This is probably one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. The service was extremely slow, and they were obviously very short-staffed. They had a fixed price menu at $65 per person. It took over 30 minutes to get our appetizers, which were satisfactory but extremely small portions. It took another 30 minutes to get our main courses. Two of us had the poached salmon - there was one small piece of salmon on the very large plates with absolutely nothing else - no sauce, no sides, etc. One of us had the buttermilk pancakes - he was served two very small, burned pancakes with no syrup or anything else. The last of our party had the filet, which was good but again, the large plate included the steak and nothing else. The server was apologetic, but the manager never once stopped by our table to tell us what was going on. Our tab was over $350 with tip, and we all four left hungry. Our son literally went out to get something else to eat after we got home. We've eaten at Oak several times previously and have always had a good experience there, but this place has really gone downhill.
We went for Mother’s Day brunch and they were totally understaffed. We paid for brunch but left after an hour and forty-five minutes of waiting.
Terrible service, awful food, too expensive. Maybe the problem was they are not usually open on Sundays, and this was a Mother's Day special.
Came for Mother's Day brunch with my wife and kids. We should have known we were in for an adventure when were the second customers in the restaurant that morning and it took them ten minutes to seat us. Lots of whispering and running around and apparent confusion.
About ten minutes after being seated the waitress came to our table and took our drink order, a single cup of coffee that took another ten minutes to receive. It was a prix fixe menu with three courses, so we ordered and then waited. And waited. And waited. Almost thirty minutes later, we received our first course. The bisque was flavorful, but cold; the other dishes were cold dishes so they were good. We then waited and waited some more. Looking at other tables there was similar frustration; drinks at the bar taking a long time to serve and long waits for food.
Over an hour and twenty minutes after we were seated, we finally received most of our entrees. However my wife's was not served. Five minutes. Ten minutes. I'm trying to flag down someone. Finally our waitress appears, walks back to the kitchen and tracks down the remaining meal. I choked down a similarly tasty but cold poached salmon and asked for our bill while they put our desserts in a bag for us to take home (they didn't include my dessert).
Apparently half the kitchen staff didn't show, which led to the chaos, but by all appearances the management and staff were not equipped to navigate the crisis. The manager took 30% off my bill, but the appropriate action to take would have been to transparently tell us up front what was occurring and give us the choice whether we wanted to stay and wait. Nearly two hours for two courses does not work well with young kids.
Given the lack of transparency and the horrible experience, I will not be returning and I will be sure to warn people if they are looking for a good dining experience in the Design District.
Server was rude
Our service was horrible. It took over 30 minutes to get a round of drinks (not an exaggeration) and when they finally did come, one of the drinks was made incorrectly. The server told us he was having it remade and then came back about 10 minutes later with a random glass of red wine instead of the drink I ordered. Two of the four steaks we ordered were very undercooked and the cuts of meat were pretty tough and far from being worth >$50 per steak. My fiance and I took our mothers here for a Mother's Day celebration and it was an incredibly disappointing use of money. We could have gone to Outback Steakhouse for less than half of the cost and likely had a much better experience overall. Clearly, we won't be back.
I left hungry!! Brussel sprouts were soaked in something sweet and deep fried and fish had bad cooking oil aftertaste on top of not bring cooked throughly. The waiting time for the food was over 30 minutes.
