Oak Barrel Public House
Meh. This area of ton has a ton of pubs, really nothing special about this one to make it stand out form the pack.
Went to Oak Barrel for a birthday celebration. Table was set up for the 6 of us when we got there with water glasses filled and reserved signs at the table. Food was excellent, burgers were all delicious! Shrimp tacos were good too! Great service and lively atmosphere. Nice location downtown.
Great food but service was not. Waitress let us know kitchen was running behind which was no problem but she was no where to be found all night. The food was brought out but runners and items were missing. The waitress never came back to check on us. We ended up flagging down other worker to get what we needed. Would ask for simple items such as water or drink refills and never received them. She had a very poor attitude and did not care about her tables. We watched our drinks be made at the bar and sit there waiting for the waitress to pick them up for over 20 minutes. I understand many places are under staffed right now but she had less than five tables. We saw waitresses for all other tables all night but never ours.
Good food! Loud. Expensive.
Fun, casual dining experience with great food and service.
Stick with the burgers here. Oak Barrel is suffering from labor shortage like everyone else so it took a very long time to get our food and refill our drinks. Outside booth is cozy but needs more ventilation in the hot summer months. Servers were very nice and apologetic about the wait.
Our server was super attentive. Gave us a recommendation on the Bang shrimp and wisco burger and we loved both! Nice vibe to the place. The free bacon fat popcorn was really good. Definitely coming back.
We were "welcomed" by a group of young ladies that gave us dirty looks when we approached them telling them we had a reservation.. from there it just got worse between having hair in our drinks to the server forgetting our orders. We didn't get asked once how our food was (it was pretty good, so they had that going for them) and we ended up asking another server for our bill as we didn't know where ours was.
This place is next to quite a few other establishments that are probably way better service and food. I would not recommend coming here.
Food and service was great! Loved the bacon fat popcorn and the pizza. Highly recommend.
Always great service and great food. Our just stop in Milwaukee!!! Also amazing drinks!!
GREAT brunch food!! I had the burrito, If you like a little bit of spice then I highly recommend. It came with dynamite sauce which is similar to bang bang shrimp! I will be back soon:)
Was mediocre bar food at best. Had higher hopes looking at menu online. Went to eat before and event at fiserv. Would not go again.
The Tito's Party-ade cocktail was great, as was the Smokehouse Chicken Sandwich (juicy, great flavor). Would not recommend the Sweet Potato Fries (thin, hard, cold). Great, friendly service.
They were out of more than half their menu.
From time of seating until food arrival took over an hour. Skillet was lackluster in both spice and quality of potatoes. Music is so loud to require elevated voices at brunch hour. The redeeming qualities: reservation time was adhered to and our waiter was kind and checked in often.
Overall good experience food was good and came out fast.
The service was top notch for the game! All the staff was really friendly and timely and the food and drink was great! I know it can be tough with big crowds but they did so well and I can't wait to go back!
Incredible and accommodating service! Food was wonderful. A perfect brunch spot!
We were seating at 5pm. No one came by to take our order until 5:32. The bar tender finally came over and apologized and said the person taking over never showed up. Food was great just took 2 hours when it should have been fairly quick.
I know everyone is short staffed, took over an hour to get our food and they were out of a few things (ice tea and potato chips) that seemed odd. It is a tough time, I would maybe give them another chance, but this was not a wow experience at all. I would wait to recommend this until I tried it again. Lots of choices in this area
Loved the food but it was SO loud (for 11am brunch) that I couldn’t hear 3 of the 5 people I was sitting with. I don’t mind music & noise, but it was just a bit too loud, especially for a morning/midday meal. The food was amazing though. I’d return if it was just me and 1 or 2 others
Love the food and the staff and everything about it
It was very nice and good. The only problem we had was that we couldn’t open up their menus. They had paper ones for the food but not of the drinks so that was irritating
Food was good. Server was nice.
Absolutely loved it here. Our server was attentive and fun. We are definitely foodies and we loved the food. We can’t wait to come back
Fun time with friends! I loved the atmosphere and our server was engaging and great! Fish fry was good…bang bang shrimp was so so - When I think of bang bang shrimp I think if not fried shrimp…and the sauce covering the shrimp already. Overall…fun time!
This is my second time to Oak Barrel. Food is good, energetic atmosphere. Service this time around was lacking. After being seated for 15 minutes I had to ask the hostess if someone could take a drink order. After ordering our food it took a good 45 minutes for dinner to be delivered. Granted, they were very busy but this won't cut it. I'll give them a pass and try them again at some point in the future.
Went for Fathers Day brunch …we’re not from Milwaukee and hadn’t ever been here. It’s loud, and dark …we were sat on the second floor near a very dark corner and it wasn’t well lit. I had asked when making the reservation if it was good for kids, and was told that yes, they have families all the time. Luckily, our kids weren’t very hungry because they don’t even have a kids menu. If you’re going to say it’s good for kids, you should offer some kid friendly food. However we ordered them some chicken tenders for them to share, and all of the food that was ordered was really good. Service was okay …we had to ask for some things a few times before getting it, but our server was friendly. Wasn’t exactly the vibe I thought it would be for Father’s Day but I would go back — adults only and not a special occasion.
The food was not great. Just really not great. The skillet had overdone eggs and a bunch of raw veggies. My sons syrup seriously tasted like someone poured grease from a fryer into it. Good pancakes.
Great food! The Wisco Burger was so good. Enjoyed the outdoor seating option too and the wait staff were really nice.
Came in before the Bucks game, the place was hopping. Our table was ready right away and we did the $3 beer special. Service was great. The pizza was excellent and their specialty Wisco burger was really good! It had bacon and a bunch of toppings. We stayed for most of the fane and they got very busy. It was a fun environment without being overwhelming. Will come back for Bucks game 7 for sure.
Great food. Loved the bacon fat popcorn. Split the Kentucky fried bacon app. It was soooo good!!! Definitely would come back. Staff was really nice. My server Ashley was very helpful.
Had a great dinner. Loved the place and the food. We had a great burger and pizza. Not to mention the bacon fat popcorn. We also tried the Kentucky fried bacon. Wow was that good. Highly recommend for a great meal.
Had a reservation. Were seated by a trash can in the mezzanine (party of 2) with little to no lighting. The trashcan was used for servers to clear tables. Asked to move tables were told couldn't. Yet for the last 45mins we were there the three tables beside us were empty. Food was avg. Bloody Mary tasted like it came premade. Burger the size of something you order from McDs. Sorry this place must be running on a past reputation.
The food was excellent!! All staff members were very helpful and polite.
The Nashville fries are sooo good. Just enough kick to not make it overpowering.
They serve popcorn cooked in bacon fat which I plan on making at home now. A little bit of bacon in every bite!
Had the Kentucky fried bacon and could've eaten that just for the meal.
I had the Nashville hot chicken tacos and they did not disappoint. The cilantro sauce is so good.
Plan on definitely going again.
Bottomless mimosas were great and don't mind you telling them to go more or less orange juice. The food is good and the service was on par.
They are coming back strong. A lot of new faces
Love this place! They’re the best!!
