Oak Barrel Public House
Appetizers, salads, entrees were good. The Wine I wanted a was not available. The only Sauvigon Blanc offered is bottle only, nothing by the glass. Ordered a bottle, and they were out. Server was marginal at best. The reason overall for the poor rating was the condition of the desert we ordered. It was served with a foul smell, almost chemical. It left a horrible taste in my mouth and when I addressed this with the server and the manager, their response was wholly unsatisfactory lacking empathy and apology. For this reason, I will not return to the Oak Barrel Public House and cannot recommend.
Avocado toast was lacking avocado. Other entrees our table ordered were good.
Loved it! Bacon popcorn was the best munchie ever and our food was very good.
Made business dinner reservations and showed up to a “sorry we are closed today for scheduled maintenance” sign on the door. Not cool.
Food was just ok. Fish was cooked properly, but desperately underseasoned. Other items unremarkable. Bacon tacos were a hit.
Server didn't know daily soup - said she'd find out, but had to ask a second time. Finally informed us after the entrees arrived.
Good burgers , good atmospheter
FIrst time at Oak Barrel Public House.
Selected it because of more unique menu than other restaurants in the area.
Thoroughly enjoyed shrimp tacos: very flavorful combination of shrimp, pepper, mango
drinks were moderately priced.
This was our 3rd visit, all before basketball games. In the first visit the service was slow and my wife was given the wrong mea, but the food was good. We tried again and had much better service and again, a good meal. Last night we had a party of six. We ordered cheese curds that were excellent, but we waited about 40 minutes for our over-cooked burgers to arrive. To end the night, the waitress dropped off the bill but kept ignoring us and did not pick up my card, so we had to walk up to the bar ourselves to pay. There are too many good places to eat near the FiServ Forum. I will not be back.
Really great food at a reasonable price.
My son’s favorite is the bacon popcorn!
Loved the old cream city brick. Nice pub ambiance. Food and service was good! Fun area of town as well.
Our first two entrees were unavailable that night. My food was brought out first and we had to call someone over to check on my wife's entree. Table next to us had a bad experience involving the manager. Guests next to us are regulars here and said they normally had a very good experience so maybe the kitchen just had an off-night. Our server was good and the atmosphere is well done.
Very good pub fare, close to the Fiserv and Deer District.
Food was great but really wanted breakfast which usually goes till 2. We were there at 11.
We enjoyed drinks and dinner at the Oak Barrel Public House . My Buffalo chicken salad was full of spicy chicken that was very good! My husband’s chicken mango salad was good as well. I liked be able to have a drink on the different levels. We will stop in again!
Great food and service!
The menu was extensive and different. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and prompt. We didn't wait long for drinks or food. Overall great experience!
Mother Son Date Night
This is a great restaurant located not far from the Fi Serv. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was very good. Would highly recommend to friends.
Enjoyed my visit to Oak Barrel , food was excellent and service was also. Only negative was I went there during a Packers game and it was quite loud but under the circumstances it should have been.
A perfect quick dinner before a show. The Wisco burger and bulgogi bowl were delicious and their cheese curds are not to be overlooked... just order them! You know you want to! The free bacon fat cooked popcorn is mind-blowing!
It was a busy, event-filled evening. We had reservations and arrived 15 minutes early. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes when we were texted for our table. We waited about 10 minutes for our server, but after that he was attentive. The food was delicious and the beverages were reasonably priced. The Black Box wine was good. I would go there again.
We enjoyed appetizers, drinks, dinner, and the time to relax prior to an event later that evening. The only part that was troublesome was we checked in with the hostess... was seated but she never checked us in as arriving through our Open Table reservation. As a result, I received a "no show" response from Open Table, which I have never received in the past. Somewhat felt like we were being disciplined for not showing up or doing something wrong... yet we had the receipt for dinner, drinks and appetizers from that evening. Hopefully, after submitting a response for the "No Show" to Open Table, all will be corrected with the restaurant as well as my account status.
Not worth a second visit.
Way too loud for decent conversation...
Food was just alright. The server was very unusual, she kept asking questions and walking away before anyone could answer. She also muttered, and was did to understand. We had to request to order, pay, and then went to the bar to actually have our tab run. It was super busy, so would have understood most, but her service was pretty bad.
Badger game, great grub and fantastic service. I will keep coming back
Service was very good but the food was pretty terrible.
Cheese curds are a must! Sooo gooey and delicious. Great meal.
Excellent food and even better service. My only complaint is that we were seating by the door. I bit chilly and loud.
I can't believe how good the brunch menu is. I think this place gets a bad shake thinking it's a typical 3rd Street bar. The menu here is so creative, and the food is great. We had the panko crusted bacon this time which was amazing. I am a fan of the chicken ranchero omelette. The maple syrup is delicious. This menu and everything about the brunch experience is fantastic. Worth considering for a top Milwaukee brunch location.
My family had just celebrated a Friday evening wedding and we were looking for a venue to host a Sunday farewell brunch for those who were leaving town to head home. Oak Barrel Public House was the only venue that was able to accommodate our reservation for 12 people. The food, service, and ambiance was perfect for our gathering, and everyone commented as to what a great selection that your venue was. Thank you for your help in sending my family members home happy!
We stopped in for dinner before a show at the Fiserv. Great service! Menu has a good variety and all our meals were very good.
They dropped the ball on food and service this time. Ordered 2 GF pizzas and a salad, which of course I said no croutons, please. Salad comes out covered in croutons and pizzas are barely warm. Asked for a different salad and the waitress couldn't figure out why. I pointed out the croutons, she still looked so confused. I stated we ordered GF pizzas, why would I want a plate full of croutons!! Luke warm pizzas were gone before the replacement salad was delivered. Service was extremely slow. This was not a good visit.
Amazing Brunch! Our 10am reservation wasn't necessary, we were the only one's there when they opened, but we weren't sure, so glad we had a reservation. This is elevated food that you wouldn't expect from a 'bar' on 3rd street. The menu was very tempting and we had a difficult time choosing. We ended up with the big breakfast, french connection omelette and the caprese benny. We were still talking about our food a day later. The caprese benny had all the flavors of a great caprese and the balsamic glaze was the right amount, it did not make the english muffin soggy and married well with the egg yolk. The french connection was a proper french omelette, light and fluffy and the truffle oil and cheese were the right amount. The big breakfast was ordered with eggs over easy-cooked perfectly. The french toast w/ maple bacon syrup was outstanding and we all commented how nice it was to see a fruit cup that was not cantaloupe & honeydew-it was blackberries and pineapple. We will definitely be back to try the other things that looked so good!
Excellent experience overall. Great atmosphere...service and food outstanding. Will be back again soon!
Fun menu selections. A great Bourbon Flight and good beer selections.
The service was great. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. They were out of the first two beers I ordered so that was a little disappointing. But they have a good selection so I found something else. The pizza was good but nothing out of the ordinary. I would go back.
Awesome place, awesome food, our server must have been new, she did not know the menu very well. Did not pre bus our dirty dishes while we were having more cocktails.
Great for dinner before shows at fiserv!
The food was creative and well done. Server was attentive and friendly. A pet peeve of mine is restaurants using oddball plates. Our food came out in wide bowls, a waffle doesn’t need to be in a bowl. You can’t cut your food with the side of the bowl in the way. One other thing all four of us agreed on was the herb butter flavor was too strong and did not go well with sweet dishes. But we will be back
