Oak + Rowan
Symbolism of Rowan: Power, Vision, Mystery
These attributes struck a chord with Restaurateur Nancy Batista Caswell when she discovered 321 A St. Oak + Rowan, a 150-seat restaurant nestled in Boston’s historic Fort Point Channel, reminded Caswell of the lofty tree tops and youthful excitement of a tree house. The menu celebrates all things land + sea; with an emphasis on prime steak, locally sourced fish and oysters, sustainable caviar, handmade pasta and alluring desserts. All of this is executed to tell the story of our farmers, artisans, foragers and winemakers in a very personal way. We invite you to dine with us in a space embellished with distinct lighting, a sleek 22-seat bar and 2 private dining rooms, all secure under lofty ceilings reminiscent of those childhood tree houses. Our commitment at Oak + Rowan is to provide a atmosphere unlike no other, just as if we invited you into our home.

Small plates were fantastic and very shareable. We got the halibut as well as the pork dishes and they were phenomenal. The guys behind the bar know exactly what they are doing, the drinks were amazing. I will be back without a doubt!!
Lobster Ditalini included tons of pasta and potato, but very little lobster. Shrimp Coctel was also off - lots of radishes but not many shrimp. Halibut was nice. Rushed us through saying the kitchen was closing. Galette tasted like it was a frozen pastry strudel.
We were a party of 8 celebrating a birthday. None of us had been here before. We were greeted by a very friendly host staff and seated immediately. Our outstanding servers Megan and Jeff were friendly, knowledgeable, funny and experienced. They helped us order and all their suggestions were delicious and quantities of appetizers spot on. The menu is lean but packs an enormous punch. Such a treat to find a restaurant that serves unique and delicious food. Drinks were really good as well. Decent wine list with plenty of options. Many thanks to Oak & Rowan for making this a night to remember.
Rowan and Oak has a good vibe to it and the service was warm, friendly, and impeccable. We had drinks and apps at the bar and then sat down to dinner. Our three entrées were excellent....the pork, duck, and halibut cooked to perfection.
It was also a nice touch that we were able to meet the owner. She was super nice and helpful.
Megan and team provided outstanding service. The food and drinks were also excellent!
Run don’t walk to Oak and Rowan. The food is outstanding and the service is excellent. A little pricey for Boston but totally worth it.
As always, excellent food and friendly service. The food always manages to be delicious, with surprising combinations of elements. Arguably the best restaurant in Boston.
Not sure how they’re handling table service, perhaps in an unorthodox and unique way but it was a pretty bad experience. That’s my biggest issue. Only time I was asked if I wanted another drink was by the GM in passing. Waiter was missing for 15+ minutes on a couple of occasions.
They also need to perhaps put the size of the wagyu strip on the menu because it could have been an appetizer
Cool, calm vibe. The food was delicious. we sat outside
What an amazing experience!! David, our server, was the beat I’ve ever had! The food was incredible and we let Ben pick our cocktails and he didn’t disappoint!
Great dining experiencing. Beautiful space, top-notch staff, excellent cocktails, superb food!
Oak and Rowan is consistently excellent. It was my first time back out in Boston since March '20 and I am so glad I chose to go here. Service was top notch. Food was creative, well presented and excellent. Drinks and wine list are great. The addition of outdoor seating was also welcome. Highly recommend!
Food was delish. We sat outside in the side patio which was great, but service was a little lackluster because we were outside. Had to wait a bit to put order and drinks in, but otherwise fantastic!
Amazing food. Great service. Love the space and decor. A perfect evening.
exquisite all around. service was stellar, food was divine, i love oak & rowan!
Food was amazing, prices were incredibly reasonable, service was impeccable and we will be back to visit again! Highly recommend!
thank you so much for the kind review!
Nice restaurant, the food was good but the portions were a little small. The service was good but restaurant wasn’t too busy and they sat us against a wall facing the parking lot, maybe a nicer table would have been better. The place was very dark.
Great service and amazing food!
thank you so much for the nice review!
Service was excellent!! Great, creative dishes and nice wine/cocktails list.
We had the Kunik cheese, octopus, tartare, and the duck. Everything was delicious, portions were small though. We could have ordered more food, but it was pricey enough that I didn’t think it was worth it. Definitely delicious though.
Everything about this restaurant is great. The food is delicious and creative. Enough choices to satisfy any member of your party but each choice is not the average meal. Delicious combinations. Fresh and very fresh ingredients. Service was awesome. We will be back many times.
Excellent meal and service! We will be returning for sure!
The food was fantastic and the service was great! We were graciously greeted at the front by the host and seated a cute table for our date night. The service was wonderful and the food was so delicious and unique. We were also checked in by the manager to make sure everything was wonderful which is truly was. I can’t wait to eat here again. Thank you!!
Great service, delicious food, in an excellent setting (for dates, anniversaries, friends, work or after work event, and offers a little less noise than others in the area, you can speak to everyone without yelling )
This place is great for any occasion, this location offers Pleasant outdoor seating if wanted. A must do, 5 min walk to the water (seaport)
The food was excellent, bravo/brava to the Chef. The service started out great but then the server got a second large table of six people (ours was for two) and after that was rather absent. Having made the reservation weeks in advance, I was surprised to be seated in the back by the kitchen door. The experience was just “okay” not “great”.
Hidden gem in a crowded city
Thank you so much for your support!
Oak+Rowan is always a culinary feast for both the eyes and the palate. Their service is impeccable and the ambiance is spectacular. One of our favorite restaurants in Boston.
Thank you so much for your support
The food was surprising and in the best way possible. Nothing predictable or any dinning experience you’ve ever had. Everything is delicious with a twist of something unexpected. It’s a must try and best kept secret in Boston!
Had the chefs choice and it was fantastic! Paired with the wines and they were perfect with the courses. Our server Julie was great with suggestions and service! Love the interior and the ability to have open windows and fresh air.
Very comfortable seating! Will be back soon!
All occasion dining! Great service, delicious food, and great setting. The noise level is much better (not as loud) as other places in the area (you do not have to shout across the table). Great place, fun service!
thank you so much for the kind review!
We ordered 8 appetizers to split as our meal, so we had a good sampling of their menu. We really did not enjoy much, we found that things were poorly cooked and flavors did not meet. The exception was the sea bass on the raw section, this was really great as well as the fusili.
Creative, and well prepared! Pace of the meal, and service was exceptional! Always a treat at Oak & Rowan!
We made reservations for our anniversary and we were able to sit as soon as we arrived. First impression was really good, they sat us by a window, we got our meals and drinks on time and the waiter checked in on us just enough times. We both had cocktails and they were on point and we got two champagnes on the house since it was our anniversary, which was a nice touch. But overall for the price, it was just good not excellent. The foods portion was small although for a more upscale I guess this what you expect and the food just did not have much taste for our palates. I kept waiting for that food ‘high’ that makes you want to go back to a restaurant to eat again and I never got it. With that, I’m sure the chef is very good at what he does and someone else might appreciate it but it just did not do it for us.
Thank you Jessika, Costs are rising for the quality of food we are trying to provide our guests. We are doing our best to source quality products while supporting our local farmers and fisherman.
The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, the scenery was amazing. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back. The bar service was a bit slow but their drinks are complex so it’s understandable! Casey, the GM was so accommodating and friendly. Quick walk to seaport too!!!
Chose to go here for my bday dinner and everything was wonderful! I called to let them know we were running a little late and the hostess kindly recommended a nearby parking lot. We sat outside (it was a bit windy) and our server, Megan, was honestly amazing! I wanted to bring her out with us afterwards! The food was so delicious and their mezcal and tiki cocktails were well made. Definitely will be going back!
My bestie and I had the best experience ever at Oak + Rowan the food exceeded expectations and the service was outstanding. We had an all around incredible experience. We ordered the following delectable items: shaved zucchini salad, the goat cheese focaccia, soft shell crab (life changing), potato gnocchi, branzino main…paired with fabulous wine 🍷 (educated guess)…seriously such an incredible experience 🙌🏾
Such a special place. GO!
We discovered Oak & Rowan during the takeout days and were delighted every time, so when friends announced they were coming into town for dinner, we were excited to snag an outdoors table for four on short notice. The cocktails (mezcal, Aperol) and the starters (oysters, smoked fish pate) were excellent, and the beet salad had us making yummy noises and trying to figure out what, exactly, gave the sauce its subtly umami depth. Our fish (branzino, salmon) was perfectly grilled, slightly crisp on the outside yet velvety and moist inside, and the presentation was lovely: shaved purple turnips, watercress, and a bright green coulis that also defied analysis. The one disappointment (for me, anyway) was that the glorious butterscotch pudding that was on offer during Restaurant Week wasn't on the menu. No water view, alas: The outdoor space abuts a parking lot, so there's traffic noise, but the lot itself is screened from the tables by greenery, so the seating area is pleasantly secluded. Definitely going back!
We had a wonderful dinner. Servers were incredibly professional while still being warm and friendly. Table was comfortable and it was easy to carry on a conversation while still not being too quiet or stuffy.
Our food was excellent. Two of us had Branzino, one had steak and the other two had scallops. We also all shared an order of Tagliatelle which was delicious, but would have been very heavy for a main course.
All in all, an excellent dinner. We will go back for sure.
Great experience! Meagan (Anastasia) is awesome! 😜
