Oak + Rowan
Symbolism of Rowan: Power, Vision, Mystery
These attributes struck a chord with Restaurateur Nancy Batista Caswell when she discovered 321 A St. Oak + Rowan, a 150-seat restaurant nestled in Boston’s historic Fort Point Channel, reminded Caswell of the lofty tree tops and youthful excitement of a tree house. The menu celebrates all things land + sea; with an emphasis on prime steak, locally sourced fish and oysters, sustainable caviar, handmade pasta and alluring desserts. All of this is executed to tell the story of our farmers, artisans, foragers and winemakers in a very personal way. We invite you to dine with us in a space embellished with distinct lighting, a sleek 22-seat bar and 2 private dining rooms, all secure under lofty ceilings reminiscent of those childhood tree houses. Our commitment at Oak + Rowan is to provide a atmosphere unlike no other, just as if we invited you into our home.

Delicious drinks and food was superb!
Food is very interesting, unique flavors and great attention to detail. Definitely a fun atmosphere and close to reasonable parking. Will definitely be back! Gin cocktail is delicious.
Excellent date spot. Menu is weak and wouldn’t feed a cat. Poor execution. $36 for 3 scallops.
We had the French dinner special and the food and wine were absolutely amazing as was the staff!!!
The food was absolutely fantastic as well as the service. The chef is extremely creative and the menu was wonderful. One piece of advice would be don’t nickel and dime your customers by charging them a dollar for an extra piece of bread. You are not a corner diner and at the price point of your meals it’s a little ridiculous.
Loved the atmosphere and it was great for a big group!
Great place, very friendly staff and they all were attentive. Food was so fresh and delicious!!
The excellent food was very original and the mix of aromas was exquisite.
We really enjoyed it BUT the loud speakers were piping out this obnoxiously loud music or shrieks and this made it impossible to have a conversation without shouting. Please improve your music selection and keep it lower!
The server had a very bad day.
Unfortunately, we experienced the worst, sloppiest, most disorganized and inattentive service in recent memory. The food was mixed quality with the raw oysters being small and tasteless. The grilled avocado salad was ok. The Ciabatta bread and fusilli were excellent. Will not return as there are too many great alternatives in the Seaport with much better service and value.
Amazing atmosphere, delicious food and great wine list.
Oak + Rowan was the only Seafood restaurant listed on Opentable in Seaport. although not extensive, the menu offered an interesting range of sweet and savory combinations I'd never tried before. A new experience I had overall was eating (Spanish) Octopus which was a starter. It was delicious and a great departure from my usual safe choices. My main was a medium-well Wagyu To Sirloin, another first and a lovely follow-up to the octopus. the ambiance was nice, and we were one of few people dining until the early evening when it picked up. The staff was nice and offered what ended up being reliable recommendations as to which items to choose. Overall a lovely time and I'd dine there again.
Special food that doesn't require a special occasion!
The food was spectacular. Each item on the menu had a unique ingredient we had never heard of and had to Google! The corn bread was my favorite! We will definitely be back.
Third time and was amazing
Terrific! Great meal (have the biscuits with caviar!). Great room.
Amazing service, phenomenal staff... well executed dishes.
Added to my list of new favorites!
Food was well cooked, but odd options. Very small portions.
Food portions are very small. Service was delayed.
Had the Dine Out Boston menu. The food was really good. The place has a great vibe. Service that day was not the best but would definitely go back. We were compensated for the slow service which was appreciated.
We went for Dine Out Boston. Each course was delicious, as was the wine pairing. There was a bit of a wait between the first and second courses, but we weren’t in a rush so didn’t mind. Tables were well spaced and staff were wearing masks. We live nearby and have never been disappointed with the food. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you for understanding and enjoying your meal. Nancy Caswell
I normally love this place. But we waited forever for our food this time, and they ran out of the dessert we ordered, but rather than telling us, attempted to try to hide it by giving us a different dessert as though we wouldn't notice. Seems like the kitchen needs a little help.
It took over an hour before the appetizers were on the table. We had to ask twice for more water before our glasses were refilled. There was no communication from our waiter as to why our plates were taking so long to come out of the kitchen, especially when people who were seated after us were served before us. The whole dinner took over three hours, which is twice the COVID time limit.
Service was a little slow but overall great experience!
I love this place because their menu changes constantly (farm
to table concept) and I was never disappointed. Recently we tasted peanutbutter bar on a desert menu and it was outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Thank you for taking the time to review us and share your experience with the community.
We go to O+R regularly, but their dine out/current regular menu is absolutely out of control. The new cocktail list is divine and somehow, despite not being dessert people, we have tried a new one every time! O+R never ceases to amaze us. This is by far their best menu yet! Also - despite not dining out for the entirety of the last year, I feel very comfortable there. They are keeping it clean and interaction is limited, while still maintaining an extremely friendly atmosphere.
It was great to get out to eat last night! Service was so friendly and helpful. Glad to see they were able to reopen.
Great food, a bit loud and the wait wasn't ideal but overall very good
We waited a REALLY long time for our our food. At every stage it seemed the service was off.
We came here last night for my husbands 30th Birthday. I was looking forward to dining here with him, since we met I had been telling him how amazing it was. Everything about our experience was outstanding, exactly as I remembered it being. I am very grateful for their hospitality and the immense care they put into every aspect of their guests’ experience. We also had the privilege of meeting the owner and the Chef who were wonderful. We can’t wait to be back and we cannot recommend it enough!! We will be returning with family next, amazing experiences like this should be shared.
Besides the cosy ambiance (especially for a place this large), the food at Oak & Rowan is beyond compare. It's restaurant week, so we had 3 courses each. The care and thought that went into each course is something you don't see that often any more in restaurants that cater to the sharing crowd. Beautifully plated with the freshest, most flavorful ingredients that melded together to create a transcendent food experience. And the wine list, although a bit heavy on the chardonnays, offered some wonderful bottles and a reasonable price. I can not recommend the restaurant highly enough, and I will be back soon!
We went here for restaurant week and we had a fantastic experience. The 3 course menu was great, we each had the fusilli for the appetizer, there was an upcharge but it was totally worth it. The service was a little slow and I am not sure if our order had been forgotten but we were not in a hurry, I mention this as we were each treated to an order of tuna crudo to make up for the time it had taken for our first apps to arrive. This came after the fusilli and was so fresh and tasty. For the entree I had the lamb confit and my girlfriend had the arctic char. I thought that I would prefer my dish but I ended up liking her arctic char more, thankfully she was full from the fusilli so didn't mind me picking at her meal. Deserts were phenomenal as well and just the right size. I had a blueberry sour cream cake? and she had mascarpone cheese topped with crushed pistachios and caramel. I am not doing justice in my descriptions of the dish as they were expertly crafted with an artistic flair for the sauces and flavors. I say this as I know that attention and detail was spent crafting each dish to make sure the flavors wowed, and I can't recall all of the components of each dish but I can attest that everything was paired well. We also enjoyed a great bottle of champagne with our meal. Overall It was a wonderful treat and we would visit Oak + Rowan again again on a non-restaurant week night.
It was great to see Oak & Rowan bustling. From the moment we walked in the host welcomed us and remembered us from our last visit in October 2020. Our waiter Paul, went over the menu in detail and recommended we try the "Milk Punch" which turned out to be a great decision, nectar of the Gods. It was the Dine Out menu and we choose to do it with the wine pairings. I had the biscuits and caviar, to die for and my son had the smoked trout pate, which was delicious. For entrees we had the confit of lamb and the gnocchi, both were mouth wateringly delicious. We snuck in a sea urchin small plate before dessert which was the blueberry sour cream cake and the lemon lavender semi fredo. Coffee to end the night. Oak & Rowan never disappoints. The people that work their are committed to providing the best service and experience. We will be back.
Wonderful experience dining here with great ambience for a date night or anniversary dinner. The host was accommodating in our request for a quiet corner table. Good COVID-19 protocols in place with barriers, diners seated appropriately apart, sanitization, etc. My napkin did come with stains, but a replacement was promptly provided upon request. Do expect to be here for a full 1.5 hrs given wait time between dishes. The heirloom beets and albacore tuna were highlights of our Dine Out Boston experience here! Well-plated, beautiful dishes with balance and depth of flavors. Will be revisiting time and time again.
Came out on a Saturday night to get ahead of the crowd. I have been waiting for their re-open. All we can say.. it’s better then ever - they took the time to explain the menu and why it’s changed from returning from covid. Cocktails awesome! All their raw seafood was delicious and we had steak special for dinner. Will absolutely be returning.
Absolutely terrible experience. Small portions, don’t go if you’re hungry. Salad took hr + to come out. Terrible communication from waiter, misleading pricing is an understatement. Spend a fortune get nothing in return.
we apologize you were disappointed during your dine out dinner. for three courses for $38 and - we wish you asked our service team member about the wine pairing. As we clearly could have communicated that 3 wines could never possibly have been offered for only $1 uncharge- $39 is our wine pairing for three glasses of wine.
Just so wonderful! The food is always outstanding. Love this spot!
The food was phenomenal, our server Paul was spectacular. We can’t wait to go back- can’t say enough great things about Oak + Rowan.
thank you for taking the time to note how hard our team is working!
Had a great time, great service and food was incredible. Such a hidden gem, ask about their espresso martinis ;)
thank you for taking the time - those martinis are a secret treasure!
Service, food and drink were outstanding. Care taken to ensure Covid spacing between tables and booths. We will be back!
