We love Oak lots of booths, and the room is large, so you are never "right on top" of a neighboring table. R&O has a great ambiance, there is no need to "dress up", but you do want to feel clean and elegant so as to match the room. The place has sort of an elegant casualness, if that makes sense.

We have gone here for a quick, tasty lunch, as well as for a relaxing 3-hour meal when out with friends. It has become a destination for us, as we are not exactly residents of the 'hood it is in. We live near-by, and while the Seaport is a wonderful new vibrant neighborhood that is a destination in itself, we often find ourselves in the area expressly due to wanting to eat at Oak & Rowan yet again.

The atmosphere is top notch. The servers seem to really care about your experience. Food is executed well and very thoughtful. Everyone goes above and beyond here. we had a lovely wine. It was a busy a Saturday and everyone dining around us were suggesting what we should eat and drink. We had such a great time here

Read this as a 4.5 review. Came here with a friend on a Friday. We were seated immediately and got down to ordering drinks pretty quickly. The drinks took a while to get to the table (a reoccurring trend) but were good. We got the beef tartare as an appetizer, and the pork and duck as the entrees. The food was absolutely fantastic. We mutually agreed that the sauces for each were the stars of the already outstanding dishes. Portions were large, which we had hoped for, given the price. We got the foie gras brûlée desert, which was also amazing. Perhaps the slower service was a product of us getting dishes that needed longer prep time.

Other things of note: we were seated by the door, and they had the inner doors open, and the outer door propped open, so it was a little drafty where we were sitting. I'm not sure if they have complementary bread, but we didn't get any, and saw a waiter walk by with one for another table.

Next time, if going with one other person, I'll definitely request a high top table next to the kitchen. It seems like it'd be a good dining experience there. Overall, I'd definitely come back.

Great Seaport spot for a business lunch. Great food and service, but you can hear each other, and surprisingly easy to get into for now.

To put it simply, there are better places to spend your money and get better food and service.

Wife and I got a baby sitter and went here on a date. She got a pork chop and I got duck

The dishes have some thought put into them but are poorly executed

When I ordered the duck the server told me it we as served medium rare I said great and got a well done duck an hour later. The red plum jus was lost under a very good cabbage salad it should be better served on the duck to counter the fat. The onion rotsi was burnt on the bottom making it impossible to cut with the knife given. My wife said the pork chop was meh

When I mentioned these issues the manager tried to address them but we didn't want to wait another hour for more food. We then we're trying to pay and leave fast to salvage the night but the server delayed bringing our check because I mentioned it was our anniversary and they brought ice cream over without asking, u fortunately I am lactose

The cookery here is skilled, nuanced - lamb brodo and ravioli - hearty AND light - akin to excellent ramen
Service knowledgeable and welcoming and made effort to say good night as we left - reflects commitment to the diner
Kitty hawk cocktail- don’t understand the reference- do understand it is delicious

We were a group of four. Lamb meatball and tomato soup aps were great, as was the duck breast entree. The lobster chicken surf and turf just missed the mark by a tiny bit, though no complaints. Cod was tasty. We liked the booths to the back/side. Service was attentive, though at times we felt rushed. Waiter re-calibrated after accepting feedback graciously. We would definitely go back.

Restaurant was pretty empty the night we were there, but nevertheless food delivery was pretty slow. Expensive for what you get. Bring your expense account.

I was surprised. The staff was very friendly but brunch was inconsistent. salty omelettes, a very very small burger overshadowed by a too large potato bun, small portions on some dishes. We were a large party, but also the first in the restaurant. It took fairly long to get the food out. The alcoholic drinks were not well balanced, either weak or too sweet. I expected great food and we left unsatisfied with no intention of returning. It was not up to par with other brunches in the area such as lookout, committee and city tap.

We were brought here for a business dinner and I was contacted later that night (because I made the reservation) about the tip not being sufficient. I was mortified, especially because I wasn't even the one who paid. How can any restaurant run under such poor management.

Oak + Rowan is one of our absolute favorites. The food is top-notch and beautifully presented. It's creative (this is not "comfort food") and it's clear the chef takes great care crafting this menu. Even better is the waitstaff is passionate about the food and knows the menu top to bottom. All questions asked and answered on the spot. I couldn't recommend this place more.

Special shout outs to our waiter Colin* and his manager, Fitzgerald (hope I remembered that correctly).

*Colin was incredible. He remembered me and my wife from 8 months ago when we came in (she was pregnant and it was her due date). Colin really remembered everything about us and asked how our son is doing now. Those touches make this restaurant special for us.

Our waiter Peter gave us a very enjoyable experience at dinner. He was so knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely interested in sharing the background of the dishes for us. The seafood platter was a great, fresh start and beautifully presented - a great way to try a lot of different things. The clam and pork soup was also delicious. For entrees we had the duck and the striped bass; both were well portioned and very tasty. We ended with the almond cake with figs and popcorn ice cream - it was so beautiful and had so many great things on the plate to try. We had a great experience and left so satisfied - not too hungry, not too full, just right.

O and R had been recommended by several friends. The food was interesting and innovative. Although not crowded, there was a long wait for the main course. And it arrived lukewarm. Service was great and friendly. Too bad about the wait.

Had very high hopes for Oak + Rowan but they weren't met. Service was great but timing was off and dishes arrived sporadically and two of the main courses were straight up cold. Our server did his best to make things right but it seemed like the kitchen was not functioning well. We might give it another try because there are some good/great things about the restaurant, but based solely on this experience it would be hard to recommend.

This place was fantastic. Creative and seasonal dishes that left me wanting more. Amazing staff that made me comfortable and ensured I enjoyed my meal. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

The food and service was high quality. The wait was not. We had reservations for 6:15, but didn't get our table until 6:35. I expected the food to take a while, but we didn't get it until 8. It was the night of a business event and we missed the keynote because we didn't get our check until 8:50. The food was fantastic, but I had no idea we were in for a 2+ hour dinner and a 20-minute delay in our seating.

This restaurant is simply outstanding. The food is exquisite...a very unique combination of familiar ingredients put together in unexpected ways in beautifully composed plates. The flavor combinations are simply breath-taking. I was attending a conference at the BCEC with colleagues from Europe and came here for dinner on a week night. We all ordered different apps, entrees and desserts. They were all amazing. The lobster with chicken (such an unusual combination) was unbelievable. The smokiness of the "pulled pork" smoked style chicken with the lobster...and the sweetness of the fruit (I think it was loquats)... Wow! The chef is so creative. I can't say enough how much we loved this restaurant. The staff was outstanding as well...our waiter was congenial, knowledgeable and very funny. And the wine recommendations were terrific. I think this is the best restaurant in Boston for anyone who loves food! You MUST try it! You won't be disappointed. Taking my local MA friends here the first chance I get!

Wonderful and adventurous food. Just too noisy for a business dinner. Our server was a bit snooty, but in a good and entertaining way. Please, O&R, add some soft surfaces to reduce the noise.

We had the most obnoxious, instrusive waiter I have ever had. He ruined our meal my making it all about him. He interrupted us every time he came to the table. He explained the menu, he explained each dish, he even explained how we should sign the check. He would not leave us alone. He was incredibly rude to his “server assistant” (what he called her) snapping her over to help him. The meal was over $300 for three people. The food was good, the room was nice but that waiter needs to be let go.

Beautiful industrial loft space. Good variety of seating from tables to booths.

I don’t get down the city that often, but when I do, Oak and Rowan is always my go to. I met a friend for dinner and since we both got there pretty early, we decided to head to the bar before being seated. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and convinced my friend to have one of their signature cocktails which she immediately wanted to recipe for. I just got a Manhattan but well made. Nice to see a bar that can do both craft and classic cocktails. Our bartender brought over a menu and said he knew we were heading to a table but wanted to be sure we got a preview. Nice touch! Dinner was also fantastic! You can tell by how things are plated that they really love what they do. Our server was especially helpful in guiding us to a bottle of French wine that went with everything we got. Finished off with a couple of ports and dessert that was almost to pretty to eat... almost. Once again, a perfect night out with a friend. Thank you!
