About Oak and Almond
Oak and almond wood fuels our wood burning oven and stove. Imparting an earthy quality to many of our menu items, these hardwoods are at the heart of our restaurant's philosophy.
With cuisine inspired by the traditions & techniques of yesteryear, our philosophy is simple: provide delicious handcrafted food, created with well sourced seasonal ingredients with a focus on hearth & flame, Organic Farm to Table. We source the best artesian ingredients and prepare them simply with respect. The wine program highlights biodynamic and organic selections, which compliment the simple integrity of our menu.
An 18 foot communal table, crafted from local 100 year old oak floorboards anchors the dining room. Hand-rubbed walnut tables, industrial fixtures, and an open kitchen featuring a wood burning oven and stove provide a modern yet warm dining experience.

Oak and Almond Ratings and Reviews
Food was good but the service was absolutely terrible (missing silverware we had to ask multiple times for, missing water glasses, no replacement of the water, 30 minutes to get a glass of wine for it to come after we had already finished dinner and it was the wrong wine, we had to chase down the server for the check and then as multiple times for to go boxes) and there were flies circling our table constantly. It left a bad impression on Our dining party.
This was my fourth visit. I enjoyed the first 3. Last Night the service was terrible. We were told there was a special party and they were understaffed. A man who appeared to be either an owner or manager came to our table and we explained that we were very disappointed. The service was so slow that by the time we had an opportunity to order they were out of a special appetizer that we very much wanted to try. We were surprised that the owner or manager did not make any effort to make us happier. Even just a drink on the house would have made a difference. This experience left a bad taste in our mouths and I'm not sure will be back.
One of our favorite go to spots!!! The food is consistently good, the service is friendly and the ambience is comfortable. They also do an amazing job catering to large parties! Would recommend to anyone hosting a party or just looking to grab a bite to eat.
We recently had the pleasure of having lunch for 11 people at the Oak and Almond. From start to finish the experience was exceptional. Service was friendly, fast and attentive. The waiter was very knowledgeable about all the choices on the menu. The food was outstanding! I highly recommend the Oak and Almond to anyone looking for a great meal where you are made to feel like family by the staff.
Restaurant was way too cold and we had to ask the manager to lower the AC...one of my pet peeves. Also, we waited over 10 minutes for drinks, 20 mins for the appetizer, and nearly an hour for the entrees.
I had spaghetti with shrimp and lobster - pasta overcooked and seafood tasted like it was frozen not fresh. My son had the bolognese and it was way too sweet. The salads and uncooked food was fine, as were the french fries.
Space is great - has potential but there are so many things that this crew need to get right. Sadly they lost me...
I am definitely not going back and felt slightly misled by all the rave reviews here on OpenTable. Diner Beware!
I had read about Oak & Almond and was excited to try it. Dinner was good. I tried the home made bucatini and enjoyed the flavor and heat. The Caesar was a bit average, but included a good soft cooked egg. It's a very pretty place and well designed. I sat in the bar where there were four or five other people on a quiet weeknight. After bringing me a drink and salad, the waiter never came back to take the entree order. He was 12 feet away talking to another guest at the bar in a fairly empty dining room. After 20m or so of awkwardly holding my menu, I decided to leave my table and order from him at the bar. On my way across the room, he met me in the middle and kind of apologized. I should say the other staff were all pleasant and helpful and didn't make me feel invisible. But because I took a 45m ride to eat there (I'm obsessed with farm-to-table) and then felt awkward most of the time, I probably won't come back. I know don't come across as a VIP, but I was very hungry. =)
We had a delightful Friday night dinner here. My wife had the burrata and the seafood pasta special, I had the charred octopus and the fettuccine alla norcina. All were excellent. The table service was superb. Our server, Tom, was a real pro, making us feel welcomed and at ease. We used a Open Table gift card, which was very easy, no drama. I would recommend.
Surprisingly good range of choice, hot tasty food, attentive staff, open on a Monday. Main eating area can get a little loud especially with large parties but asking to be seated in one of three other areas is an option. Excellent find and a definate win for Norwalk.
I had the special which was fresh scallops head on shrimp served over a squid ink risotto it was amazing! For an app we had raw oysters which were also amazing, good wine list, creative cocktails and the service was very quick but also well timed between apps and entrees. I look forward to dining here again and bringing more people in to enjoy such great farm to table food!
Discovered Oak and Almond through OpenTable this past weekend and my group of 5 (age range 20-82) was very, very pleased with the experience. I particularly liked the calamari, burrata/prosciutto flatbread, and truffle pasta dish. My niece loved her mussels, and the other pasta dishes were fantastic, too. Everything was great and our server was excellent. We loved the large outdoor patio but as we walked through the inside seating area we noticed how attractive that area was as well. We consider this place a real "find." I was visiting family in SW New Canaan and since this is literally across from the light taking you off the Route 7 connector, it still only took about 20 minutes to get there. And is much more reasonably priced than New Canaan restaurants. We like places in SoNo and Westport, et al, but this had the added bonus of PLENTY of parking. We will definitely be back.
Outstanding food. Fantastic setting. The patio was an oasis of calm lit by white fairy lights and flame torches. Brussels sprouts delicious (honey and bacon and olives) this is a place to take your time and enjoy. The friendly though infrequent wait staff makes sure of it. Still if come back a thousand times. Great bar list. Knockout entrees.
8 friends- we met for wine and food on a balmy spring night. I was running half an hour late due to traffic and called the restaurant to let them know. They said no problem, sat those who arrived on time and made apologies for me. The wait staff were terrific, timely, and pleasant. The food was enjoyable, plenty of olives and bread to start. Not cheap, but a perfect evening!
Advertised as Farm to Table but hard to recognize on the menu as NO farms or where the souring is from. Quality of food was just OK for the price. Nothing exotic. We ordered the Peach and Blueberry cobbler and got a strawberry cobbler instead which wasn't on the menu. Its was good and we ate it but the waiter seemed indifferent when he came back.
We've been here before for special meals (new year's brunch)., which was terrible service and cold food. Thought ww'd be better off with dinner. Tonight was mother's day. Both were busy, and the service suffers for it. Very frustrating, Seems like some form of management would have helped, never saw any. Ie., Asked for forks for dessert, they never arrived! Would expect something festive like flowers on the table for Mother's day. - nothing. Need to get their act together!
