Everything was incredible. The service was the best! Cayla rocks!
Joined 2 friends for Happy Hour. What a treat! We had an early reservation and were seated immediately. We enjoyed the saki and the rolls were outstanding as usual. O-Ku remains my favorite sushi spot, and for Happy Hour, you can’t beat the deal.
Beat place ever. I love their sushi so much! I wish I could go every week!
Excellent sushi, great place for a date. The dumplings are a great starter, and the spider roll in particular is awesome.
As expected, an outstanding dinner. Everything was well above expectations.
Big eye tuna sashimi and chef’s specials (eg Black Magic) are out of this world. Service is fabulous-always willing to cater to your needs.
Oku is not only my favorite sushi restaurant in Chas, it is one of my favorite sushi restaurants anywhere! Very hip and beautiful ambience, fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable servers, unbelievable food!! We loved everything, but especially recommend the spring rolls, tuna tartare, rainbow rolls, potato rolls. So, so fresh!
I have dined at O-ku countless times before and I normally come around my birthday. This time it was just BAD. The service was cold and rushed. The noise level was unbearable even though we were one of maybe three or four tables. My boyfriend got chicken teriyaki and VERY overcooked fried rice. I got two rolls which were both warm and low quality. The potato roll came wrapped with soggy shoestring potatoes and the spicy tuna crunch had the most low quality and fatty tuna that I have ever had. I spent $100 on this meal and I am SO disappointed.
Katlin and Alexandra were great. The food was all great as usual.
First time there for me. Wonderful vibe & food! Will definitely be back.
Black magic roll was amazing!
Amazing food! Solid service! A little noisy...
It was pleasent
Food was very good, but a little pricey for what it was. It is also extremely dark in there, you need your phone to read the menu.
Excellent food and service. Very attentive to details, I will definitely be returning!
Melanie our server was the best server I have EVER had!!!
Some trips, the food is amazing. This trip, the salmon uzusakuri was tough and served with very very tiny pieces. Not worth $18. The lobster hand rolls were tasty, but the sea weed wraps were VERY tough, as if they were not fresh and they took a significant amount of tearing with our teeth to bite through. Not pleasant at all. This restaurant also has some nice seating, but several tables that are too large for a party of three and awkwardly placed in the middle of the restaurant. We were at one of those, unfortunately. Finally, it is well known in our family that you don’t come here for the service. Snotty hostesses- rude from the time you are called to confirm your reservation, to the time you are seated. We entered and were not greeted, as the hostesses were in the back of the restaurant chatting. This is typical of O-Ku. Inconsistent service and food quality. Never worth the enormous price tag. It’s very lucky there are few decent sushi places in the area, or we would never spend our money here.
This was our second time dining at Oku. The first timewe had omakase and it was phenomenal. This time we chose sushi rolls from the standard menu and it was delish. Will definitely dine there again.
I love dining at OKU! The staff is always so sweet! Also my waitress was everything and much more!! I enjoyed my sushi as well.
Amazing drink, the Jasmanian Devil, sushi was fresh, tasteful, and the ambiance was second to none. Would recommend, and look for in future vacations
Perfect experience from start to finish! Always our favorite!
The food was awful and service was even worse!
Too noisy, too contrived. We ordered the chef’s choice ($100/person) and naturally had exceedingly high expectations. The food was good but didn’t live up to the server’s hype. Likewise, the service was mediocre.
Everything from food to ambience is too contrived. It lacks authenticity. From a creativity standpoint, again, it missed the mark. We can think of other high-end Japanese restaurants that provided far superior value and not only showcased the chef’s creative talent but also the star: distinctive Japanese cuisine.
O-ku was amazing. Great cocktails, wonderful service and the sushi was to die for.
Always a wonderful experience at O-Ku! Went for my husband's birthday and they were very quick to accommodate our party of 8 people. The service could not have been better, and the food was completely on point. The Rock Shrimp salad is always a solid choice! And if sushi is your thing, the Black Magic is a must. If you're feeling like trying something unique, you can't go wrong with the Sugar + Spice Martini. Enjoy!
Great food/fish. Very loud after 7pm
Too noisy...won’t be back.
Best sushi in Charleston, hands down. Happy hour on Mon, wed & Fri with valet parking.... You can't beat it anywhere!
Great food and service as always but the music is too loud. Very hard to have a conversation without yelling!
Went for happy hour sushi and drinks. Good sushi and great vibe.
The Happy Hour deal is amazing!! My favorite sushi in Charleston. We had the Yellowtail carpaccio to start and it was fresh and delicious. The sushi rolls are so delicious, always fresh and presented beautifully. I’ve had every roll and love them all. Their new roll, The playboy is great! It’s a great deal to go for happy hour on MWF. Half off sake too! We had the black n gold.
I love the atmosphere and the food is decent for Charleston. The wait staff is great, unfortunately the HOSTESS are NOT the nicest. Especially the two blonde ladies (one slightly older). We had reservations since we had a concert to attend, but they basically ignore us after checking in. There were plenty of empty tables (we counted 7-10 at least). Seated several walk in's. The hostess are the customer's first impression, I would hope they hire friendlier staff. I asked some of my other friends who have been to O-Ku, they feel the same.
Normally I always give this place a 5 star, but for some reason our appetizers did not come out together and had to aske the server to check on one. Other than that this place never misses the mark.
Sushi was AMAZING! Server was nice. Only thing I was mad about was that they were out of the White Chocolate Dessert!
Staff was so helpful with organizing a large party. The food was great and service was awesome.
Disappointed in the sushi this time. It did not taste fresh. Sashimi order came out 15 minutes after our sushi was finished.
Met all expectations
Ask for Alexis. Everything she recommended was perfect. We will return soon!
