This was my second time there. The rock shrimp is delicious and big enough to sharing. The rooftop is our preferred place to seat but be aware it’s first come first serve. Great place to socialize or take a date with a beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline.

It was a great overall experience. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. Would definitely go back to O-Ku to eat again!

After making a reservation based on all the marvelous reviews, our dinner was disappointing.
1st, the most important thing to know is they don't take reservations for the roof. To get a roof top table without waiting, you need to arrive at 5pm.
2nd, the view from the roof is not spectacular. However, the service is spectacular!
3rd, we love yellowtail and ordered every hamachi/yellowtail item on the menu. The hamachi carpaccio is overly spicy and smothered in ponzu which hides any possible flavor of the hamachi. The green eggs and hamachi uses a similar deceitful trick of smothering the flavor of the fish with spicy jalapeno. The spicy yellowtail crunch was tasty and mild; At least it didn't burn the tongue like the other items. Both the Inada and hamachi sashimi were fairly tasteless and unimpressive.
If you are a hamachi lover, I recommend going elsewhere.

Great food but really bad service:.....food took forever and the staff didn’t say anything about how much we should be ordering for the group. As they would say....it was a Charlie Foxtrot after a $600 meal!

Rooftop seating was too busy to accommodate us. Service was good. Food was just ok. Fish didn't seem like anything special given the price.

Fun evening. Good variety of sushi as well as cooked items. Enjoyed the poke bowl and teriyaki chicken and others in our group said the sushi was awesome!

I live in West Midtown and I frequent O-Ku both on the fly for a quick dinner at the bar and for special occasions in which I make reservations for. I made a reservation for this past Saturday night for a friends birthday (in which I indicated the occasion when making my reservation) and not a single person made mention of that. I am not sure if that is typical protocol or not but when asked to provide a reason for the reservation one would think a simple "Happy Birthday!" from a member of the staff would occur. Apart from that the food is always amazing; incredible sashimi and great drinks. This past Saturday night was an exception however as the service I received was terrible. We sat at the table for 15 minutes before our water glasses were filled, our starters came out only minutes before our sushi entrees, our glasses were never refilled, and the server got my order wrong no once, but twice. I ordered the Spicy Yellow-tail Crunch roll and made mention of the scallion on top (which I later learned was a jalapeno) and received some dish with scallops in it. When I sent the order back because that was not what I ordered I then received the Spicy Scallop Roll which again was not what I ordered. At that point I just gave up and ate what they brought me. When asking the server for suggestions prior to placing my order he had none. I love sushi however I do not know very much about it so I depend on my server to help me out with the best choices each time I visit. I have never been let down until now. When asking the server what sashimi he recommended and what the fattiest fishes were he did not have a response... He simply said they were all great. Clearly that was not the answer I was looking for. I am hoping the next time I visit will be better.

O-Ku never disappoints. The food is excellent, the staff is always very knowledgeable and friendly + the vibe is on point. This has become my go-to Sushi restaurant in Atlanta and I haven't had anything as good as of yet. Great for a date, a business dinner or even a casual get together with friends. Great Sake and cocktail selection – Sit with Wilson at the bar and ask him to guide you through the menu and a Japanese whiskey or Sake pairing.

The service was wonderful. Our waiter was knowledgeable and incredible to talk to. The cocktail was delicious and the first few dishes were good, but the rolls were underwhelming and overall the dishes were not too memorable for the price.

O-Ku totally delivered on the food front as always - the drinks and sushi were delicious! I ordered the Shogun (very refreshing cocktail), and we enjoyed the veggie roll and the dragon roll with tuna instead of tempura shrimp. We were, however, disappointed that service was very slow, and the valet was completely full so we had to "fend for ourselves" on a crowded Friday night.

Last couple of times I was at O-Ku, the service was lacking (servers were indifferent, couldn't identify the fish). Happy to say that problem seems to have resolved itself because O-Ku is a very fine sushi restaurant. The fish is always good; the moriawase, a perfect size.

I like O-Ku and I believe their sushi is really good, particularly on the weekends. This time I took my husband out for a special romantic night which turned out to be anything but! We were seated next to a couple in which the female was obviously inebriated. She was loud and cursing, so much such that I couldn't hear my own conversation. Our waiter seemed to disappear, as I noticed their waiter bringing them shots. I can't imagine what they thought her cut off point was, but as the F-bombs got louder, finally someone came to speak to her. However, by then our dinner was halfway over, as she quieted down and eventually left. It seemed to put a damper on the whole evening, in hindsight we should have asked for another table right away.
I have higher expectations of O-Ku then that, and hope that with this note things will be handled much more expeditiously in the future!

Very, very good sushi , above and beyond service, and a stellar view of the Midtown skyline. I would recommend this place to the most discerning of sushi lovers. It was not the best value in the world, but the sushi quality, presentation, and service still made it more than worthwhile. Like many sushi hot spots in Atlanta, table spacing is a little tight, but great music, chic space and a beautiful view came together to make this my favorite ambiance in West Midtown. Could use a couple moderately priced saki options. The wagyu is a must-try!

Awesome sushi - among the best in Atlanta. Terrific staff, buzzy atmosphere, great upstairs outdoor patio. Can't wait till summertime to sit up there with great view of ATL skyline. Very young crowd. BUT if you are looking for quiet place, this isn't it - so just be aware of that. Fun spot in hot West Side - and VERY creative sushi. Will be back!

I wanted to like the place, the service was terrific, the fried shrimp were great. Then we moved to the sushi and sashimi and it was disappointing. The sashimi pieces were mini, some the size of a thumb and others the size of a quarter. Hard pressed to return.

Rooftop service was horrible. Would recommend eating downstairs or only ordering drinks at the bar upstairs. They forgot half of our food and drinks. It took over 1.5 hours to get all of our food - there were only 2 of us.

Great food, but the service was a little odd. The servants were very busy to remove our plates from the table - before we finished the meals. It felt like they tried to push us to get done faster. And also the servant asked us whether we wanted tap, bottled or sparkling water. We ordered bottled and sparkling, so everyone at the table got two glasses of water - one bottled and one sparkling 🤨. Along with drinks and wine - there were a lot of glasses on the table! Also, you have to do something about this smell in the restaurant!

Our experience at O-Ku was not good. The dishes that were recommended were not fresh. The seafood tasted old and very “seafoody.” We have eaten at O-Ku several times when they first opened their Atlanta location. However, we were very sad to come back a year later to find the quality had declined significantly. Please save your money and go to Eight Sushi down the street or Umi in Buckhead. This sushi uses old fish, and I was not good. When we told the waitress, she completely ignored our concern and rushed off. Not the level of service you would expect when spending good money for food.

when making a reservation it was unclear that the patio was first come, first serve. We decided to grab a table up top rather than be seated inside at our reservation time. it was a great evening, but maybe that could have been made clear when making the reservation. no big deal, we didn't have to wait long and all the food and drinks were delicious.

What was supposed to be dinner and drinks turned into just drinks after waiting over an hour and still not receiving our sushi rolls. We ended up cancelling our food since we were never warned of this wait BUT, the El Diablo cocktail was tasty as well as the miso soup. The ambiance combined with this gets them 3 start. There are sushi restaurants near by with much faster service but I plan to give them another try.

The service, as has always been our experience, was great. Our main hangup is the quality and portions of the sushi. All selections, salmon belly, cherry salmon, hamachi toro...were all very sanitized with no dynamics in flavor. Sashimi portions were very small, almost as though the preparation was intended to extend the fish farther into two servings. Don’t get me wrong, the sushi is clean, but not our desired sushi experience. Worth it for a few initial visits but likely won’t choose O-Ku for any future sushi cravings. Service was lovely and attentive, the food just fell a bit flat.
