Nuovo Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Six people (3 couples) went for New Year's Eve. All of us loved our meals that were ordered right off the regular menu. It's not often that you go 6 for 6 at a table! Great job! In addition, I wear hearing aids and often have difficulty hearing in loud, noisy restaurants. Not so at Nuovo! It wasn't quiet, but moderate. I could hear fine! Love it! We have dined here before, and we will definitely be back.
Wonderful food! Excellent service. They take very good care of you here. The musician they have playing on the weekends is great and lends to a festive atmosphere. the food though is the real selling point - they have both traditional options and some nice updates as well. The filet special is always excellent with a tender cut of beef in a delightful sauce the chef creates. Wine list is thorough with good price points. If you want a friendly atmosphere, don't hesitate to choose Nuovo.
On a whim we made a reservation with short notice. Our table was great. We were seated quickly. All the staff was helpful and friendly.
Our waitress made a mistake by dropping something and to her credit, apologized and rectified the problem immediately. Everyone makes mistakes. How we handle ourselves at that moment it a test of character! She handled herself very well!!
Otherwise the food was excellent!
We will be back.
We dined here for NYE. The restaurant was cold due to the frigid temps outside and lack of shielding by the entrance. The smaller tables are close together so it lacked an intimate feel. It was a very busy night with a large party going on upstairs. The food was very good and the menu is large. We especially liked the mussels appetizer. Very good salads and bread. We got a stuffed haddock special which was also good but the sauce was a little too rich. Our server was very attentive. We will return.
Too many Up charges!! Salad comes with meal. But Cesar is $4 upcharge. Add anchovies for another $1. This would be fine if it were a decent sized Cesar. But it was six pieces of dry romaine lettuce. With two pea sized croutons. Server started off good. We ordered 4 apps for 6 people. 6 meals and 3 deserts. 3 glasses of wine and 1 beer. Pregnant woman didn't drink, neither did our driver. Typical server, once they realize we are not a bunch of drunks, the service goes down hill so fast! Too bad. We are still good tippers. Food was tasty enough. Portions were average sized. Good not fantastic.
Not our first time here but may be our last; for a while at least. Our server, while very nice, was not as good as she should have been; she forgot the add on for one of our entrees (not remembering until she served the pasta plate without the add on), removed the rolls before we were done with them and was overly "attentive" which adversely affected the flow of conversation.
We found it interesting that the specials for the evening were all priced at the same $35 whether for the twin filets or the pasta dish??? Perhaps our server got that wrong as well. Generally, the prices are on the high side overall.
I had forgotten that the tomato sauce has a sweetness to it which is never to my liking and should have stayed away from it but, alas, I did not making my veal parm entree less desirable.
So many good restaurants in this area with more being added all the time. Time to give Nuovo a rest until, perhaps, some changes are made.
The musician in the front room was great but a bit loud. The food was edible but disappointing. The twin filet au poivre special seemed like the thing to get on a cold night. The meat was flavorless and the "gravy" was unlike any au poivre sauce we've ever had before - it was grey and not appetizing at all! Our daughter's chicken piccata was very good. We should've gone with a chicken dish as they looked much better and were less pricey than the filet dish. The waitress was great but was given too many tables so she was unable to get back to us. The lasagna dish that someone ordered looked incredible. Unfortunately, that was at another table. We got off the highway on our way home from Boston to eat here as the reviews on TripAdvisor were so great. At the end, we walked away disappointed and would probably not return as there were other restaurants in the area that got great reviews as well!
Second time at Nuovo and again wondering why we don't dine here more often. Excellent menu of interesting beef, chicken, seafood, and pasta dishes. Great sides and sauces with most dishes, as well as small house salad and hot, fresh, chewy rolls. We loved both our dishes, the salmon with artichokes and cheese ravioli in parmesan sauce, and a special, branzino (bass) in lemon wine sauce with champagne risotto. Sizable portions, fresh ingredients, prompt, friendly service. It was a delightful dinner in an attractive restaurant.
I visited Nuovo a couple of nights ago for my Anniversary. My husband was away on business so my two daughters and 4 yr old grandson joined me. Lisa was our waitress and she was just perfect! My grandson loved her! Very friendly!
Even the Chef (I think he may be the owner too) came out to say hello. He gave my grandson a little plastic duck. It was a great night!
We went to Nuovo based on other Open Table reviews, and were very pleased to see that this recommendation panned out. The food was excellent, and the service was extraordinarily good. Even though this was my first time, I was treated like a regular. I would definitely go back.
We came for a late afternoon, after-theater meal. I had grilled salmon with a delicious risotto side and seasonal veggies. There was enough for another meal, which I took home. My friend also had salmon, but the specialty of the day, which she loved. Our waitress was very attentive. We enjoyed our visit tremendously.
We went with another couple for a low key night out.
After getting our drinks at the bar, we all decided that the bartender wss quite entertaining
, so had dinner at the bar. Great decision as we were entertained all evening...
We met the owner and got a tour of the very beautiful function room up stairs...all in all...just a great Saturday evening.
We had another delicious dinner at Nuovo. We started with drinks at the bar (check out the Seasonal menu). Dinner was wonderful (meatballs are always a good choice) and the specials were terrific (3 people in our party had the stuffed haddock and loved it). We wrapped things up with after dinner drinks (the Tiramisu martini was wonderful) and dessert (nut torte amazing!). Highly recommend dining here. It's a hidden gem among the many restaurants on Shrewsbury Street.
My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary by having dinner at Nuovo and had a fantastic time. The muscles were delectable, my Manhattan was well balanced and the Chicken Marsala was perfectly cooked. The ambiance was fun and lively yet laid back and relaxed. The piano player in particular was a nice touch which made for great conversation and filled the silence while eating. The best part of this experience though I must say was our server, Lisa Lou. She was attentive but not overbearing, friendly, made good personal conversation with us and made this one of the greatest eating experiences of my entire life. Nuovo will certainly be getting my business again in the near future.
Too loud! We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation and stood near the bar to wait. The bar was full so we ordered drinks and waited while standing near the bar. Unfortunately, it was also where kitchen staff came in and out of the kitchen, so there was no convenient place to wait. We were either in the way of the kitchen/wait staff or the front door. The front room with the piano player and bar was understandably loud. After 20 minutes or so of waiting, they offered to seat us near the bar. We asked for a quieter seat in the back room and waited 5-10 minutes more. There was one extremely loud group sitting behind us who the waiter told us had also asked for a quiet table! The food was average, nothing spectacular but the noise made for an unpleasant overall experience. I think you can get as good or better food with a much more enjoyable ambience elsewhere in Worcester.
Love this restaurant - especially the piano bar/singer - so wonderful to dine with music. Lively and somewhat loud in bar area seating, but we loved the vibe and energetic atmosphere - and there is the quiet side close by, but still can hear the music. Our server, Kyle was outstanding. Excellent food, awesome ambiance, and overall wonderful dining experience! Highly recommend.
We were there to celebrate our anniversary and had a lovely evening. The chef even came out and chatted with us, which was very enjoyable. I did think the additional $9.00 for a side of asparagus was rather expensive, but the food was excellent! I had reserved the table on Open Table and made the restaurant aware it was our anniversary and at the end of the meal we were presented with two complimentary glasses of champagne.
