Nuovo Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent as always. Eggplant rollatini was some of the best we have had. Chobani salad was great. Chicken Francais and saltimboca were perfect. There was a wonderful piano player in the lounge where we ate. Drinks and bartender were also great. We highly recommend Nuovo!!
Let's say...heard great reviews, but bad food! We went for restaurant week to try it out. Food was sooooo par say! You'd think an Italian place would be good....until you find out they are owned by "not so Italian" people.......yeah food sucked. The ravioli was tasteless, the chicken was horrible and the waitress/bartender to top it off was very rude. Yeah no hopes of me returning there! And way to expensive for the quality!
Amazing service! The bartender came over to recommend a wine to pair with my meal. I had veal cacciatore which was delicious. My husband had the salmone atlantico which was outstanding; perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfect accompaniments. I know what I'm ordering next time. Also, dessert was exceptional. We shared a passion fruit, mango, and raspberry sorbetto, drizzled with white and milk chocolate. The server made several recommendations throughout the evening, all of which were on point. We will definitely be back.
We love Nuovo and the owners are wonderful. I have a dairy allergy, and even though it was very busy Saturday night, the owner/chef made me risotto non-dairy! Quite a treat. The owner's wife knows her wine for pairing and happily recommends and educates based on your dinner selection. Our waitress was a little new, that's why the lesser star rating. But, this is a wonderful restaurant and I would highly recommend it to all.
The servers hovering was unappreciated. My food was way too salty, my wife's chicken was tough and my vegetables were under cooked. Also, the noise level was terrible which was probably exacerbated by the tin ceiling. The best part of the meal was the espresso, which was suppose to be a double but amounted to approximately two ounces. I was overcharged for my scotch by $3.00, but it wasn't worth the bother to have the bill corrected.
I made a very late reservation and was pleasantly surprised! The food was excellent. Apps were excellent! The meatballs were really good the wrapped figs should could have been a desert very sweet, the calamari was good although I'm not big on the tentacles. Main course; The veal Parm could have been shared! The salmon prepared to perfection! The penne ala vodka was missing something but very good. Liquid desert and off to a concert. I'd go back.
We had heard good things about Nuovo but it was much better than anything we had heard. This was one of the best steak su poivre I've ever had, comes to perfection, better than any high end steak House! The asparagus and potatoes said 'roasted' on the menu, and they were in fact perfectly roasted! The salad was was crispy and crunchy! And that was just one meal. Others at our table had the shrimp risotto, bisque soup, and haddock. Every one of our meals was simply phenomenal, perfectly cooked, innovative, and delicious! We will absolutely most definitely come back to this restaurant, and we highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it! You will not be disappointed, no matter what you order! We paired or meals with a couple of bottles of the house Malbec, which was priced very reasonably and was smooth and wonderful!
Our server was very attentive, pleasant, patient, and accommodating of special requests. I'm sorry that I don't remember her name, but she was excellent! We left her a Henri's and well deserved tip for her efforts!
All around, from beginning to end, this was a memorable dining experience, and we are already planning to go again soon!
Second experience eating at Nuovo, both consistently superior. Valet parking removes a potential obstacle, service from the moment of arrival was excellent and food was prompt, delicious and a nice blend of the familiar with some novel recipes.
Love this place, it has become our go-to restaurant for a nice evening meal, a reasonably priced (for restaurants) wine list, and an expansive menu. Compares favorably to restaurants we visited while in Florence, Italy.
Overall not impressed. Waitress seemed bored and didn't give me the warm and fuzzies, basically delivered food. The seating was too small for a party of 6 , which turned out to be a party of 5 with someone hanging off the side of the table. The table was built into a corner where I needed to step over some odd steps. It needs to be redone as it was also uncomfortable. Food was ok, only one person in party really enjoyed it, the rest said it was ok. Mine tasted very close to jar sauce, not impressed at all.
The owner should have known I was there and was testing it out for a future event . You would have thought she may stop by and say hello, considering I was planning on spending $$$ there later, but nothing. I will say the owner was very pleasant in all of our email and telephone conversations but in my opinion kind of dropped the ball this night. No hurry back sorry. Oh and the valet parked one of our parties car so tight it took 5 minutes to maneuver out of the space, irritated.
We really enjoyed the food and the service was wonderful. Had a friendly and polite waitress who really knew her stuff. She made sure we were happy with our orders without being overly pandering or interrupting too much. When it was time to leave she gave me a doggy bag with lots of ice because we told her we wouldn't be near a refrigerator for awhile.
I would definitely return. They had a varied menu so we could go back with people who enjoy a wide variety of food. The parking service was a definite plus!
My husband and I ate at Nuovo on our anniversary. The food was very good and our server was great. The staff knew that it was our anniversary and we were given what I thought was a complimentary glass of champagne. Well, when we got home and I looked at the itemized bill, we had been charged for the champagne and another alcoholic drink that we did not order. The only other issue (not the fault of Nuovo) was that we ordered two of the specials and they were quite pricey (we had not bothered to ask the price). As a result, the dinner was quite expensive. Would I return? Yes, but I'd be more diligent.
Went here for my mom's birthday this week. Food was AMAZING to say the least!!!! I had the lobster ravioli with tortellini, my mother had the veal picatta, and my brother had the prime rib. Samantha was our server and she did a fantastic job. She was very attentive and patient while we sat with the menus for a bit. I appreciated the fact that she asked my brother to cut into his steak, to make sure it was cooked properly. When it was on the more "well" than "rare" side, she immediately recognized this and took care of the matter. My brother's steak came out perfect afterwards and it didn't take long at all! The wine and beer menu has a lot of options from different crafts and brews, as well as brands. The atmosphere was warm and clean. We sat by the window, in a half table-booth, which was very comfortable and had a nice display on the table e.g. Candles and a flower. Thus confirming my checking off that this restaurant would be a great place for a date. The meals are a bit pricy BUT! You are getting great quality and definitely your bang for your buck!!! Definitely will be back soon to celebrate my compleition of clinicals (I'm really using any excuse to go back next week it's that good!! ;))
The one good thing was the wine list. It was extensive and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend the Masciarelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
Unfortunately, the rest of the night was underwhelming. We had a reservation for 7:00 on Mothers' Day, which was booked on Open Table without any comment. It turns out that the restaurant closes at 8:00 on Sunday and the kitchen closes at 7:30. Needless to say, we felt rushed at what was supposed to be a relaxing Italian meal.
The food itself was only average, if that. I had veal saltimbocca (a non-menu item which they made and which was a nice touch) and my wife had chicken saltimbocca. She had barely any cheese or prosciutto where I had too much, and the prosciutto was too thick. Others in the party had meals which were slightly better.
All in all, we would not return to this restaurant as we expected more from a restaurant rated and priced as highly as Nuovo is.
I Have been to Nuovo several times and the food has always been wonderful, service is usually exceptional. Not sure what happen this last time but the wait for our meal and desserts was much too long. I will return as we all have bad days and feel this was an off day for Nuovo
This is a favorite "go to" restaurant. We always go here also for special occasions. Food was amazing as usual. Coconut shrimp appetizer cooked perfectly and not greasy/chewy.
Chicken parm, linguine carbonara, and salmon atlantico all fantastic. I had requested the sea sea bass special but they had run out so bartender recommended salmon.
It did not disappoint. Owners/chef/bartender make us feel like we are family. Service is "spot on." Great menu. It was our anniversary and we were "toasted" with champagne with the bartender. Definitely a Shrewsbury Street gem!
We brought my mother to Nuovo's for a special dinner. I was a little concerned at first because we were seated in the lounge area and I was afraid it would be to loud. Once the table of twelve left, it was perfect. The meals were delicious, we were not rushed to order, and the waitress was very attentive. Bobby, the keyboard player, was a perfect touch to a perfect evening.
Very happy with everything. I had never been and we were going at a busy time, but food was fantastic and plentiful. I tried the watermelon salad...something new and delicious. Service was perfect. Glass bottles of ice water wonderful. Bartender knew just how to make delicious drinks. Wine list was not bad. The only downfall...I wish this were closer to my house! Keep up the great work, Nuovo!
I took my wife here to celebrate her birthday. We were sat next to the window with a nice view outside in our own cozy corner. The waiter was very friendly and informative of the food and specials. We tried out a couple of fun cocktails before switching to wine with dinner. The antipasto appetizer was delicious and a perfect size to share for 2 people. Our entrees were delicious and I had enough Chicken Parm left over for a whole second meal! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and will return soon.
This was our fourth time at Nuovo for dinner, and each time it's been an outstanding gastronomical experience. My wife and I are pescatarian, and there are plenty of options to satisfy that restriction. Where applicable, the menu even goes so far as to specify that a dish was made using "chicken broth," which we obviously avoid, so that is very helpful (usually we need to ask, especially with dishes such as rice, risotto, soups or paella). ALL restaurants should note this on the menu whenever chefs feel the need to sully their dishes with chicken products instead of a nice vegetable broth, but I digress. Our waiter was relatively new, but told us in advance that he was training, and may need to go get an answer if we had a question regarding the menu that he hadn't yet learned. We had no problem with that, and in addition, mentioned that we'd like a relaxed pace for the meal since we were celebrating a special occasion and were in no rush. His pacing was perfect, his manner unobtrusive but attentive, and in all he turned out to be an excellent addition to our evening.
