I asked a friend for a recommendation to a moderately priced Italian restaurant. He said this was one of their favorites. The restaurant is in an old warehouse with a small Italian store, including cheeses and gelato. The tables are spread out. Chef came from the kitchen to help us with ordering. The pastas are homemade and the sauces not overpowering. Wines are reasonably priced. Enjoyed the place and we will be back.
Great food
Nice atmosphere, great service. Pizza was great but the seafood risotto was disappointing, the calamari and clams were over cooked and tough. Will probably try it again.
Meal was delicious and prepared by Timothy, the head chef, who was engaging and has a way of making you feel like your meal is the most important to him. The 4 of us loved the entire evening.
I've been several times, and this time was not quite as good as the past. We were seated initially right next to the kitchen where it was very hot. Thankfully, we were able to move. Had we not been able to move, we would have gone to another restaurant. Service was a bit slow, and it took quite a while to get assistance with the wine selection.
The food was good.
It was a great congratulations date for my significant other’s new job! Food was great and our waitress was helpful and quick.
Wonderful service and DELICIOUS food!! The wine list is remarkable. Definitely coming back!!!
One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I have ever had.
I was there on a date. Chef Timothy Ogden approached our table and introduced himself. He asked what appetizer we would like. I replied that I was there on an date and would love the the chef to use his prerogative and provide us a meal so that we could focus on each other.
What followed next was a 4 course trip through a fabulous tour of Italian cuisine.
I can’t recommend this restaurant enough!!!
The wait for the meal was longer than expected. There were background tv’s on like a sports bar (not expected at an Italian restaurant). The waiter although pleasant seemed hurried and over extended with tables. The hostess disappeared after we arrived at 7pm and the wait staff had to pull extra duty to seat guests.
Everything was great with the food & ambiance, but the service was unbelievably slow and our waiter was not attentive at all. Not sure if we would ever go back, but maybe will do take out.
Service was awful. Asked our waiter the price of a special and he said “I don’t know.” Didn’t even find out. Food is just meh. I have been there 3 times now due to its convenience but I won’t go back. Each time I go, I leave frustrated and disappointed.
It took over an hour and a half to get our main dish from the time we placed the order. The owner and other staff just sat relaxing in the restaurant. Very short staffed.
As always, they did not disappoint. Danielle always recommends a perfect wine to accompany our meal choices. Service is always attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The wide variety of quality, authentic options on the menu always guarantee that everyone will get just what they want. Tim and the rest of the kitchen team did an outstanding job on the Tomahawk steak, the pastas, the fritto misto and everything else this past weekend.
On Friday's service was exceptionally poor waited 1hr 30 mins for our food and all was not served at the same time.
First time!!! Definitely will be back!!! Great food and wine list is fabulous!!!
It was only ok, the price wasn't worth the quality. They close at 10:00 on a Saturday night so we felt rushed. If you are spending that kind of money on drinks, appetizer, entree, dessert, wine etc.... you want to be able to stay and enjoy the evening with friends. They were out of several things we asked for. Wanted to look through the market before our friends arrived but was rushed to get to our table even though it wasn't crowded and we had a reservation. Probably won't go back, there are too many other options around town. Server was very kind, newly in the states and we enjoyed visiting with her very much.
Overall best dining experience I have ever had. Chef Timothy came tableside and talked us through dishes and is extremely passionate and entertaining. A great representative of the Houston food scene.
Our server Danielle was absolutely amazing. She gave us great wine recommendations and was prompt and personable. The head chef was touching tables despite being a little understaffed on a busy Friday night. All the food was phenomenal and the wine selection was excellent.
This is a very fine Italian-American restaurant that serves great food. They have an extensive selection of Italian wines that are reasonably priced. The service can be disorganized but it's always pleasant.
Excellent first time experience- pizza and salads were delicious, and the wine selection was endless - with something for everyone!
Celebrated our anniversary there with another couple. We could actually relax and carry on a conversation unlike at many crowded, noisy restaurants these days. The food and wine were delicious. Loved the scallops, pasta, salads and gelato. Waiters and Head Chef were friendly and helpful. We plan to return for other special occasions.
Chef came out to our table to assist in wine selection. Very much enjoyed the evening.
Entrees were not delivered for 1 hour and 50 minutes and we finally left without eating.
Manager was in the kitchen cooking and would not come address us. No apologies for poor staffing or whatever the cause was.
Adjacent group who arrived at the same time waited 1 hour for their food.
Waiters were friendly but powerless.
Drinks were good and served quickly, antipasto plate was tasty, ambiance was nice. Had thought it would be a good neighborhood addition to our rotation but will never come here again and will be sure to warn others away.
It was very frustrating watching our food cooling on the pass for 15-25 minutes while our waiter was absent or present but oblivious. I actually had to step in his path to get his attention. Too bad, the food was delicious, if lukewarm in most cases.
This was my first visit to this restaurant, from outside it has a low key appearance but inside it feels very comfortable with a great overall atmosphere that is at a higher level than I expected. The service was very good the food was great and the prices were reasonable. Looking forward to going again.
Food, service and ambiance were all fabulous.
Yes, love this restaurant. Actually, I had just recommended this restaurant to my podiatrist last week.
The beef carpaccio, burrata, shepherd salad and gelato are not to be missed!
We love this place!
Great wine list at great prices.
We had a wedding luncheon for 16 and the food and service was excellent. Great menu and even better wine list. The ambiance will make any meal there special. We will definitely be back!
So the whole restaurant had ONE employee working at lunch. He worked very hard, but you can't run a restaurant with ONE employee and have it go well!
Great food & wine selection. Service was superb. More peeps should check out this great lil treasure.
We’ve driven past this place multiple time and finally decided to check it out and we will definitely be back! Great value! I do not know many places where you can get a good import bottle of wine, appetizer, two meals and desserts for what we walked out of there on. Roniel suggested a great bottle of wine for us to sip on through the night. Ambiance was perfect for a weekday date night too!
BEST HOMEMADE PASTA I'VE HAD IN HOUSTON.
This place used to be a deli I believe and recently went through some major changes since Harvey. The owners are from Italy and the entire staff put elbow grease into helping restore the restaurant.
We stopped in for a random Tuesday dinner because I'd been really wanting good pasta. There was no wait, and our hostess was also our server, she knew the ins and outs of the menu and even had a wine recommendation. The pasta was al dente, and the perfect texture, with each having a complementing sauce that clung perfectly to the noodles! In the dining room there were at least 6 wines from each region of Italy, denoted on the wall behind the wine displayed. I also learned they have wine tastings! Another person came by our table to talk about how we found the place, what we thought of the food, and to tell us the restaurant's story. I was blown away, we unfortunately couldn't stay for handmade gelato but we will absolutely be back!
Excellent service and food quality. Intimate ambiance. A great gem!
great ambiance and food. wine list is remarkable. i recommend.
Very nice evening. Excellent food and good service.
Fantastic fish! Great martinis too!
Had to send my veal Milanese back. Was over cooked and greasy. Waste of a good veal chop. Pastas always good. Great wine list.
Always a good choice. Great food, service and wine list! Risotto always good as is the capelletti, pizza, gelato. Whatever you choose it’s sure to be excellent!
I kept seeing this place pop up on Open Table. We needed a good location to meet friends from out of town and it worked. Don't be turned off by the location. What it lacks on the exterior it makes up for on the inside. We had four different lunch entries and a great appetizer. There were very few people there and for about 20 minutes we were the only party there at lunch. The food was really great! The only reason I ranked it lower was the fact that it was freezing in there. Really too cold. We would have stayed longer and would have enjoyed shopping at the market but could not take the cold. We asked the waitress about the temperature and she said it had to be that cold to keep the wine cold. Now I have eaten in many wine bars and places with lots of wine racks but it was almost like they were trying to chill the wine. I mentioned this place to a friend who lives in the Heights and she said the same thing. Love the food but hated the chilly atmosphere. Maybe we will try again in the summer.
