Fantastic fish! Great martinis too!
Had to send my veal Milanese back. Was over cooked and greasy. Waste of a good veal chop. Pastas always good. Great wine list.
Always a good choice. Great food, service and wine list! Risotto always good as is the capelletti, pizza, gelato. Whatever you choose it’s sure to be excellent!
I kept seeing this place pop up on Open Table. We needed a good location to meet friends from out of town and it worked. Don't be turned off by the location. What it lacks on the exterior it makes up for on the inside. We had four different lunch entries and a great appetizer. There were very few people there and for about 20 minutes we were the only party there at lunch. The food was really great! The only reason I ranked it lower was the fact that it was freezing in there. Really too cold. We would have stayed longer and would have enjoyed shopping at the market but could not take the cold. We asked the waitress about the temperature and she said it had to be that cold to keep the wine cold. Now I have eaten in many wine bars and places with lots of wine racks but it was almost like they were trying to chill the wine. I mentioned this place to a friend who lives in the Heights and she said the same thing. Love the food but hated the chilly atmosphere. Maybe we will try again in the summer.
This was our 3rd time visiting the restaurant. Since day one we have always order the same food. Last two times food was amazing however today’s experience wasn’t that great.
We ordered the ribeye that comes
The food is delicious, very attentive service, ample room to put tables together for large groups. There is ample parking (valet and self park) in the back.
The food and wine list are extensive and reasonably priced, not to mention very high quality and amazingly tasty, and the main chef waited on us personally. We will definitely be returning!!
Rude owner, waitress had 2 of our 3 appetizers slide off the plate and onto the table without offering to bring another one out instead. We made reservations a week ago for a party of 9 and were seated outside the dining area next to the entrance. We asked to be moved and the owner was very rude about it and said the other tables we’d reserved. We didn’t see anyone using the back room the entire time we were there. The food was mediocre at BEST. Way overpriced for a restaurant in a warehouse with rude service and mediocre food.
Excellent real Italian food. Service was friendly and attentive. Portions are large - the Caesar salad for 2 could easily feed 4. We took home leftovers from our pasta. The wine list is very good and the prices are wine shop priced, not restaurant priced. Will definitely be back
First visit on 2/18/19. The restaurant was not busy which made the noise level low. Interesting place where the food was great and the service was exceptional. Makala was friendly, knew the menu as to how food was prepared and made good recommendations. She is definitely an asset to the restaurant. They also had a deli and a market area.
Would definitely go back.
Great food and great service
Valentines Day. We eat there frequently. Food and service usually excellent. This time the service was slow and it took a long time for the food to arrive. When it did arrive it was excellent. I think they may have been short handed for some reason
Understanding that this was Valentine's Day dinner, this restaurant was completely unprepared! Total chaos! Food was just ok. Fortunately, when our server finally arrived (which was about 20 minutes after we were seated) she was very pleasant. Not sure I'd go again.
First I would just like to say that the server we had was very good being both friendly and attentive. We came in for Valentines day and they were offering a special Valentines menu which was a 4 course meal which included a glass of sparkling wine. The issue came down to the food itself. The crab cakes we had for a first course were warm yet were slightly burnt on the bottom. The aioli was simply squirted on the top in an unappealing glob. A simple back and forth drizzle would have made the plate so much more appealing. For the main coarse the pasta was cooked to perfection. The down side was that the sauce was so salty that I could not finish it. I could see some of these mistakes as it was Valentines day and these may not be the regular menu staples but it certainly did not make me want to come back. The dessert was a rather good gelato with a nice flavor and a great texture so it seems when they are preparing something in their wheelhouse they have the ability to make decent food, we just did not get that for our regular meal. Oh, and be sure to read your bill carefully because they automatically added an approximately 17% tip to the bill for two people before leaving a line for an additional tip. I felt that was a little disingenuous. While the server was great and the ambiance was nice the main reason you go to a restaurant is the food and for that reason I don't think that I would recommend eating here to a friend.
Valentines dinner with outstanding options and an incredible wine selection. A wonderful experinace
This place is a neighborhood jewel. Awesome food and wine at great prices. Good for families or romantic date. Timothy, the chef, makes certain every detail of the meal is perfect. Our favorite for Italian food.
This was our first time to visit since they reopened and we really like the renovations. Service was excellent and some of the food was too. We ordered fried eggplant (excellent) and off the dinner menu - a vegetarian pizza and beef carpaccio. The pizza was large and good, veggies were very crisp, not cooked much. The beef carpaccio has obviously been in the refrigerator and was nearly frozen. Tasted fine after it sat for a minute but the arugula was very limp. Tiramisu is the BEST in town and worth going for! We’ll be back but will probably stick to the lunch menu.
We have been going to Nundini's for several years. The place got a bit of a face lift after Harvey, but it retains its' hole in the wall feel. It retains its' core values: well prepared Italian food and an extensive list of Italian wines at great prices. On our last visit the place was very busy for a Tuesday night with most of the restaurant taken over by a large party. Service was more haphazard than usual. However the burrata appetizer and braised beef stuffed cappelletti were really outstanding.
I've been looking forward to going here for years. It's in an odd location so I tend to forget about it. Great little joint, but wine selection and the service was very good, but I was less than impressed with the food. My dining companion added salt...we never add table salt. We also noticed another table doing the same, but that may be their habit so who knows. What I can say is the risotto, two different ones, was bland. Risotto should have lots of flavor, garlic being one of those. I didn't detect a hint of garlic. The burrata with tomatoes was good. I wanted to try the tiramisu since I think that is a good indicator of how good the restaurant really is, but they were out. Early dinner on a Saturday and they were out? Unfortunately, I think it's the one and only time we'll be there. Disappointing.
Fabulous food with great service
First time at Nundini’s and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was knowledgeable and helped pick a wine that complimented several dishes. Their wine list is extensive and very well priced. Will definitely return.
We enjoyed everything from appetizers, soup/salad, wine selection, entrees, and dessert. The service was outstanding!
Nundini's continues to improve. A unique environment with an excellent eye toward food preparation and variety. Although there is still room for improvement, I'm glad to share their service is improving. I'm almost hesitant to share the good news as I'm afraid Nundini's will become too popular. They also have great private dining rooms and many wonderful flavors of gelato.
We enjoyed everything about our evening! The food and service were exceptional as always and we were able to converse with our friends easily. We highly recommend Nundinis.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME WHILE CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY. OUTSTANDING FOOD AND A NICE AMBIANCE, AND ATTENTIVE CARE. THE CHEF CAME TO OUR TABLE TO EXPLAIN SOME ITEMS, AND TO CHIT CHAT. LOVED IT AND WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK :)
Food may not be bad, pizza not really Italian
Time from ordering til food arrives beyond any expectation (45 minutes wait for a plate of cold cuts; when ordering main 45 minutes for a pizza and a dish of scaloppine). Service doesn’t meet expecting at all ... sucks
The service was perfect. Out of 10 dishes, just the Mussels were not enjoyed, the pasta was too salty, unfortuately our daughter was at the other end of the table, and she did not bring this to our attention, she just had her sisters pizza! Our server was well informed as to the wine and recommended some excellent bottles. It was a little loud, but most places are these days.
Nice atmosphere. Tables are not too close together which allows for a quiet dining experience. The pizzas were very tasty.
I am done with Nundini after ordering Wednesday's poorly presented Wednesday's "special of the day" with chicken, filet mignon and a fatty lamb t-bone with no meat on it. Equally disappointing was the mushroom risotto: flavor, quantity, temperature and presentation.
This establishment used to be one of the greatest value for money in the area and our "to-go-place" for delicious Italian food and good service. Not anymore. Unfortunately the decline started before Harvey.
The day we went there was a strong smell of a floor/bathroom cleaner in the main dining room. That didn't help either.
We were looking forward to the Christmas Eve dinner and the first two courses were fine. We ordered the grilled mista for the third course as we both love lamb. We were presented with a plate of paper thin, over cooked, overly salted meat. It was like they threw it in a pan and forgot about it while they attended to those who ordered the lobster. We waited an hour and a half for a subpar entre. Please let me know when you get a new chef and kitchen staff.
Also would like to say our young waitress was a sweetheart and couldn't have been happier with her.
I’d pass. The exterior is odd but upon walking in it looks like a nice Italian grocery. Went downhill quickly from there. The online menu is not what is available for lunch. The lunch menu is different and sparse. Ordered calamari - average and under seasoned. Pizza ok. Finished with the steak and asparagus dish. After 20 minutes told no asparagus. Medium rare steak came out done. Medium steak cake out hammered. Will not return. Service was issue too but if you are still on the fence - you aren’t paying attention.
Off the beaten path, and unappealing from the outside, but very good food and a fabulous selection of Italian only wines. There was NO lunch crowd, so reservations not necessary. Our first impressions were mixed, as you walk into what looks like a deli. The main restaurant is just past that, however, and the atmosphere changes immediately. The atmosphere is cozy. It feels a little like being in a wine cellar, as the walls are covered with wines from every region of Italy. The open kitchen faces the dining room.
Open seating. We waited a few before being told we could sit wherever. Our first waitress was brand new, so she had to call in some help. The other waitress stepped up, and was knowledgeable and fantastic! It's wise to taste test the house wines, which is acceptable. Found one that was absolutely lovely!
We had the zucchini fries as an appetizer, and they turned out to be the best thing ever! Beautifully made and fried. Great fresh bread. All the dishes were actually quite good. We were all pleased, except the first time veal eater didn't care for the heavy gravy on the veal. Very good gelato, as well.
Nothing extraordinary, but very good Italian and exceptional wines.
Good food but slow service. Head chef is a bit rude!
We waited over 2 hours for our food. 3 of the clams were bad. Not a good experience
The restaurant area was full so we were seated in the deli. They made up for it with an appetizer and we were personally taken care of by the chef himself, who recommended the perfect wine. We met a very nice couple a table down from us. This was our 4th time here. This time started out a little rough and turned out to be the best yet!
Nundini is a one of kind trip to Italy. The food was excellent, the waitress was was courteous, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient. I highly recommend this place for a romantic date or a family dinner.
We drove up from the Sugar Land area and I am really glad we did. All the items we tried, which included pizza, a filet mignon, and veal were absolutely delicious. The Filetto al Pepe was not overwhelmed by the pepper crust, and the accompanying sauce was divine. It was cooked exactly to my requested temperature. I substituted Garlic Rosemary Potatoes for the grilled veggies and they were super yummy too. My wife had the veal and she definitely really enjoyed it. The kiddos shared a 14" pizza and it was gone before I could blink an eye. We will return to enjoy their fare again in the near future!
We used to love Nundini's but it went downhill a couple of years ago. We decided to go back after it reopened following Harvey and it was back to how it used to be. Glad to see they are offering the same good food and wine that they used to do. Thanks
