About Numero 28 Pizzeria Napoletana - East Village
Welcome to Numero 28 - voted the "Best Pizza in New York" by Citysearch.com readers. We specialize in authentic Neapolitan pizza, baked hot and fast in a brick oven to achieve a not-too-thick, not-to-thin chewy, smoky crust made from a recipe that's been handed down through five generations of pizzaioli (pizza makers). Our one-of-a-kind dough is then stretched into an oblong shape, topped with the freshest ingredients available and sold al metro "by the meter" just like you would find in Italy. To further the authentic Neapolitan dining experience, Numero 28 provides a casual, welcoming atmosphere of heavy wooden tables and whirring ceiling fans. Our friendly staff welcomes both neighborhood regulars and visiting strangers like long-time friends. In addition to our pizza, Numero 28 offers classic Italian dishes such as lasagna, rigatoni alla Bolognese, eggplant parmigiana, homemade tiramisu, and an assortment of antipasti.

Numero 28 Pizzeria Napoletana - East Village Ratings and Reviews
I used to go here all the time... The service has been poor the last two times I went and the pizzas are definitely getting smaller and they are very expensive. Nice atmosphere but its not the only place in town. Sorry Numero.. its not where it's at anymore.
We were seated immediately but instead of putting us at an already made up table we were ushered to sit down at a table that needed to be wiped down and set up. Despite the restaurant being about half empty we waited a good while before the bartender came to take our order. We originally decided on one appetizer and a small pizza but were advised that couples usually get one appetizer, one salad, and a medium pie. Since we had salads for lunch, we decided to get calamari and a medium margarita pizza. The calamari was flavorless and even the side of spicy pink sauce didn't do it justice. The pizza was really good and despite being pricy it was worth it. We ended up with a third of the pizza uneaten. Probably won't return but overall a good dining experience.
Cash only, BYOB w/ $7 corkage fee per person, great outdoor seating when it is warm out! Love to go here with friends, bring a bunch of wine, and get lots of pizzas to share. Pizza is so good!! This is my favorite numero 28 location. I think it's larger and more lively than the others.
Very authentic Italian pizzeria/restaurant. They are famous for the thin crust pizza served in different size (Numero 28 and doc are the best) also pasta it's very very good (lasagna is outstanding) now they have Italian digestive (Montenegro, limoncello e sambuca). Desserts are very good too.
Love this local REAL Italian restaurant!!!! We frequent this amazing spot which is cute and cozy with brick walls and authentic Italian paraphanelia or love sitting outside right amid the 2nd Ave buzz. The appetizers are amazing, ( our favorites are the rice balls & meat balls) every pizza is fresh and tasty thin crust just like Italian. The pastas are superb as well! Love all fun fun and friendly waiters who make the experience even more authentic with their exotic Italian accents! Local gem! Definitely recommend this spot!
i was looking for a lunch place in the neighborhood for a group of three adults and five kids. The pizza was fantastic (get the 28 special pizza), and the salads were also very good. The staff was attentive and accommodating of our large group. We were indoors but it has a nice outdoor patio. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Catching up with friends you haven't seen in 5 years didn't matter to our server. She came over and abruptly cut us off mid-convo, saying, "Okay guys, time to order". For starters, there were empty tables around us so I didn't see the need to push us forward seeing as the food came out in about 8 minutes anyways. Secondly, we were seated outside and weren't given an alternative to move in when it started drizzling, so I didn't see the need for the rudeness when we ourselves couldn't be accommodated. Food was fine, shrouded in fancy Italian words that amounted to nothing special. Not going back.
great place for dinner and a chilled out night with friends. Love the fact that you can get a selection of pizzas on a their large wooden slab. We really liked the Tartufo, cheese-based pizza and the D.O.C. is really tasty with it's tomato base. It's a very relaxed place, nothing fancy and great spot to grab really good pizza that doesn't feel like one of those late-night after party NYC pizzas spots.
