Tucked into the heart of downtown Manhattan, the counter at Noz 17, A Michelin-starred experience with only seven seats, transports guests into an ethereal space that is as much a performance as it is a meal. Chef-driven and prepared in the Edomae style, Chef Matsu's omakase menu brings guests on a journey through the far reaches of the traditional sushi palate.

Chef Matsu previously helmed the Ash Room Counter at Sushi Noz, our sister restaurant on the Upper East Side. Drawing on some of the same techniques seen uptown, Matsu-san elegantly prepares each bite of this free-flowing menu that organically intertwines nigiri and otsumami.

    Our new Bar Menu includes 15 courses for $195 per person. The menu features 1 amuse bouche, 10 sushi courses, 1 hand roll or hoso maki roll, miso soup, tamago, and dessert. Guests are welcome to order extra pieces at the end of dinner. Seatings at our intimate 4-seat counter take place at 5:30pm, 7:15pm, and 9pm, helmed by our talented Sous Chef.     Amazing experience! The food is absolutely delicious, the fish is so fresh and we tasted so many different dishes. It is a true Japanese restaurant as you can only experience in Tokyo, where the chef is from actually. I love the idea of a seasonal menu, I’m looking forward to going back next season!

    I have visited NOZ 17 before and the last two times the quality of food has gone down. It is no longer fresh, selection is minimal, and the cleanliness is no longer a priority. I would not recommend this to anyone. There are so many great choices in NYC that still appreciate the customer. NOZ increases there prices, decreases quality, forgets cleanliness. Another restaurant that has forgotten about the people that dine there and only worried about stuffing their pockets.

    The experience we memorable and the wine / sake pairing was fantastic. That being said, was very disappointed that I was charged fully for my wife, who was no able to attend due to a hospital stay, and was not given the option to eat a double portion or pack her food to go. It felt like a punishment for something out of my control.

    We managed to chose the evening of the Tetta wine dinner! Had no idea that wine was made in Japan other than sake, and was blown away! The food paired magnificently to the very interesting wines. Overall, another great meal at Noz 17 with perhaps the best Omakase in NYC.

    If you're looking for an unforgettable omakase experience, this place is a true gem. What truly set this omakase apart was the attention to detail and the warm hospitality. You’re not just a guest here—you’re part of the experience. I highly recommend it for anyone who appreciates craftsmanship, subtlety, and the joy of discovering new flavors. It's an absolute must-try.

    Food excellent - se nice was almost non existent. I ordered green tea - took forever to get a server to refill. I was charged $48 for 2 green teas.
