Novita Wine Bar Trattoria - Garden City Ratings and Reviews
Honestly my experience wasn’t stellar, but it was Valentine’s Day. At best they were very courteous given the circumstances. The food was good but it took a full hour to come. Everyone was very nice though and I was compensated for the long wait. Also the wine list was extensive, they had some good options; overall it’s a nice place, but like I said they didn’t handle the holiday volume well.
The only problem with the restaurant was the location of our table. We were placed in an area where here was virtually constant movement by. staff. What makes this so disappointing is we eat dinner at restaurants at least 4 times a week , most of which have at least a Michelin Star and while perhaps less complex , the food here was every bit as good as the food anywhere. Why not simply remove the table? While we will order pick up, the experience was so bad we won’t be going back to dine in.
The food and service were outstanding. I went in for brunch with a large party and we had a nice table in the back of the restaurant. Multiple servers checked on us throughout our visit to make sure we were ok and brought us drink refills without even asking. Wonderful experience.
In my reservation I requested not to be seated at a high top table. When we got there; we were seated at a high top table. I was told all reservations are for high top only. We were also told that there was nothing else available. I was embarrassed as I made the reservations for the occasion; inviting a friend for a night out. Had it not been restaurant week I would have left then and gone somewhere else. Our friend told the hostess to tell management she would never return. Embarrassing for me.
Great Saturday brunch! The food is so good and the brunch special is awesome. You get an appetizer and entree with unlimited drinks. I chose the ricotta as my app, the eggs benedict as my entree and had the screwdriver as my drink. Everything was amazing!! Best eggs benedict HANDS DOWN! I will be back!
Great food. Service was good. However, we did have to wait more than 45 minutes past our reservation. Totally understand it was a busy night, but definitely need to somehow improve their system - I dont think I’ve ever waited that long with a reservation. That being said, the food was good - definitely worth a try!
Novita never disappoints. I hadn't been here in awhile and decided to make a reservation for restaurant week. The menu was well thought out and they didn't give you small portions. It was presented excellently as always. My frIend ordered from the regular menu and it was outstanding. The waiter Nick was extremely frIendly and on top of his game which is important these days. Was very attentive
Great food, great service made a great date night.
The restaurant week menu was quite extensive which is unusual. The additional special appetizer with Buratta and Lobster was a great suggestion. It was light and the Buratta was creamy.
The Salmon entree had levels of flavor that were delicious and the Salmon was perfectly cooked. The suggested Malbec was delightful.
There will be more date nights spent here!
We went to Novita for an early New Year's Eve dinner before going to a party. The food was terrible. I ordered the Rigatoni Ragu, the recommendation from the waiter, which was inedible. The sauce was a deep red which looked and tasted like it had been heating in a pot for two weeks. I was unable to cut the meatball with my fork. I literally had to use the knife to cut the meatball in half and discovered that it was simply a tasteless piece of hard meat. We also ordered the baked clams which were barely edible as well. None of the four of us enjoyed the meal. We went to Novita many years ago and we were reminded why we haven't been back in 15 years. Might be a good bar but would never go back for the food again. Probably the worst restaurant I've been to in 15 years. Understandable why we were able to get a reservation 3 days before the holiday.
Started with a broccoli rabe and sausage pizza which was very good. For dinner my pasta dish had red sauce that looked and tasted a little burned. The sausages were also a bit burned and dry. Requested additional ricotta for two people and received a mere tablespoon! Overall just fair but I would give this restaurant another chance since it was New Years Eve and it was very busy.
Novita is a late night "wine bar" not a restaurant worth your time or money, this was clear after our experience. We made a booth reservation for 8:00pm on a Saturday night for a date night. Booth was not ready and they "supposedly" said the reservation did not request a booth, when it clearly did in the email confirmation that I presented to the hostess. The hostess team of 4 just brushed it off and said we had to wait, unless we wanted to be crammed into a corner table that didn't even have room for 2 wine glasses on it. One hostess made many trips to the back of the bar to talk to coworkers instead of checking in with with customers at the tables. I checked in with the hostess desk 3 times and at one point no one was there no one there, everyone had walked away. We did not get seated until almost 9:00pm in a half booth by the kitchen, in which the reservation asked not to be seated by the kitchen.Being that I had a gift card to use, I wanted to get rid of it and never come back to this poorly run overpriced establishment. Wait staff kept knocking our coat off the chair and they didn't even acknowledge that they dropped it on the floor. It was clearly run by inexperienced college students who were not concerned with good customer service. If a reservation was made, why wasn't a booth saved for a 8:00 reservation? What is the point of a reservation if it is not acknowledged for the time or its requests? Food was nothing to brag about. We went there for the wine list, not the food. Once seated, it was a race to shove food on the table in a hurry because the kitchen was going to close down. We didn't even finish appetizers and they had the next course ready. Why didn't they move this fast to get us a table? Again, poor restaurant management and staff training. Overall, I would never go back, and if I ever received another gift card, I would sell it instead of dealing with low quality service. Owner should consider employee retraining or being present at the door.
The brunch deal is great! I had Bloody Mary's, the Ricotta appetizer and the Eggs Benedict. Everything was great. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed and it took him awhile to get to our table. Once he did, the service was good. Great Bloody Mary's and a fun atmosphere. We sat at noon and by 1:00 the place was packed and lively. I would return.
Such a wonderful experience from start to finish- everyone was so helpful, kind, available etc. Food and drinks were delicious and our server Ashley was unbeliavable! Would recommend Novita' for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, host an event or for simply a night out! Prices are fair and service is fantastic. Looking forward to many more evenings/brunches here!
