Novita is located a few steps down from a quiet tree lined street in the Gramercy Park neighborhood. The setting is warm and elegant and the mood quintessentially Italian. In pleasant weather, sidewalk, alfresco dining is offered further adding to Novita’s year round appeal.
As always, the food was delicious and creative. Novita consistently delivers terrific meals at reasonable prices. Truly, it is a neighborhood gem.
We were seated at a lovely quiet table off the main dining room
We were already seated when we realized a patron was across from us with two small dogs on her lap. The dogs were quiet but then they emitted gas and the woman started fanning the odor
We already had our wine and appetizer by this time.
I think the hostess should have warned us that we would be sitting so close to dogs
I don’t think dogs belong in eating establishments unless they are truly trained guide dogs. It’s not sanitary
To be fair I asked to be seated in the little room but no one ever mentioned that there were dogs and I did not notice them until they smelled up the air
It was amazing. The food was excellent, would go again
I love Novita! The food is wonderful, the staff is exceptional. My “go to” Italian restaurant in NYC. The rollatino di tonno is spectacular.
The excellent service is second only to the excellent food! The homemade pasta with shaved truffles and truffle oil was TO DIE FOR. Would have been too rich to have a whole dish of it, but split among 4 people as an appetizer was perfect! The pepper-crusted tuna was cooked perfectly (and delicious), and everyone was wowed by how good all the other dishes were! And did I mention the excellent service? Everyone is treated like a VIP -- and it's greatly appreciated!
Always delicious, and always accommodating. One of my favorites. Expensive but worth it.
Had a lovely lunch with tasty food and attentive service. Place is is a great find for lunch with charming ambiance and great food selection at good prices.
Our visit to Novita was our first, for my husband's birthday. Everything was exceptional- the incredible food, elegant ambiance, and gracious service. We truly had a special dinner. I knew that Novita had made an impression on my husband when, before leaving, he made a reservation to take his parents to dinner here to celebrate an upcoming milestone wedding anniversary. Grazie, Novita.
Great Valentines Day meal. Terrific menu well executed on a busy night. Small but well picked choices. We had two great appetizers: tuna and lobster salads. Mains of truffle pasta and Osso Buco. Great pour from a great large bottle of Brunello rounded out a great meal.
Awesome spaghetti! It was a bit crowded but all the staff were very warm and welcoming!
Great food! Wonderful service. Really loved the scallops.
Fantastic from cocktails to dessert, service , food everything was at the highest level.
This may have been the best meal myself and my girlfriend have ever had. We celebrated Valentines a little early this year and could not have had a better time. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely incredible. From appetizer to desert every bite was so good it made me angry! No meal should be able to taste that good. Highly recommend.
Loved it! Can’t wait to return.
We will be back! The good was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was very nice.
Novita continues to be one of the best authentic Italian restaurants in the city. A must.
It was a great evening. Thank you!
Very good trattoria style food. Good quality products. Great service. Owner and servers give a very nice Italian upscale atmosphere .
I would recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful staff great food fair pricing! Best meal in New York in a while
We arrived a precisely at 830pm for our reservation. Maître d’ checked us in but didn’t sit us. No tables were available. He didn’t say anything to manage our expectations. After 10 minutes I asked and got he told us that he didn’t know, that “thank god people like this place” and so no table were available and he couldn’t tell us when a table was going to be available but that was fine if we wanted to go elsewhere. Which we did.
In 20 years in New York I have rarely seen a maître d’ as rude and nonchalant as this one. This is the second time the exact same thing happens. We have gone to this neighborhood place for years - mostly for the convenience and the neighborhood feel to it, the food is only ok. But this maître d’ (who I believe is rather new) was one of the rudest I’ve seen and really makes a point of telling you he doesn’t care if you don’t stay. Wondering if discrimination is at play. Won’t go back there ever.
Terrific, authentic Italian food. A wonderful pappardelle with lamb, a wonderful tuna entreé. Even the veal parmigiana seemed more "Italian" than "Italian-American." Festive place, but a noisy place. Perhaps those two conditions are inevitable. While the place is not inexpensive, it seemed fairly priced for the food and service. Personnel -- from the front door to the guys who poured the water -- were really friendly and pleasant. This was our first time there.
Delicious food, accommodating managers, nice environment. Outstanding place with truly food Italian.
Very good! Excellent pasta, appetizers, fish, everything was great. Authentic Italian. Definitely recommend coming here.
We were visiting NYC for a conference. We had great service - thank you, Michelangelo! We enjoyed the bolognese, squash blossoms and carpaccio. Our only challenge was that the restaurant was very warm.
Wonderful food! Pretty space but very tight seating space.
Novita is the best! 5 stars everytime!
Novitá never disappoints . It’s homely feel everyday dining or a date or a business dinner. Non intrusive service but up to the point. Friendly staff and excellent food.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten in. From the greeting at the door to the end of the meal. I can’t say enough. The food is amazing! Our server, Carolina, was wonderful and very knowledgeable of the menu. She was sweet, attentive and very professional. There were 4 of us having dinner and everyone’s meal was outstanding. Can’t wait to return to NY for dinner. I’ll be sure to recommend Novita to all my friends
Excellent food & service. Mixed drinks & wines are pricey. However the mixed drinks were excellent & the quality of wines are very good. The entire staff was very attentive, prompt & extremely cordial.
Novitá is a wonderful small local restaurant experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. the food is fabulous. Pasta is fresh made and perfectly cooked. The veal was out of this world. Turissini - San Daniele del Friuli!
Lovely as always. White truffle pasta - I might have well as been in Piemonte. Perfect / handmade pasta, fresh truffle. And my favorite Etna Bianco.
Lovely ambience. Very attentive staff. Very good food and reasonable. Excellent carpaccio.
Lovely restaurant which is well-lit with attentive staff. Food very good, especially the pasta.
Service was friendly and perfectly attentive. Food was excellent. Pace of serving was perfect. Will defiantly return.
I had the stuffed zucchini flowers with prosciutto for an appetizer - delish. And the carbonara for my entree, also very good. My friend had the veal chop parmigiana - excellent, and very pretty to see on the plate. The gelato sundae was divine. I will definitely return. The place needed more air circulating however - it was too hot inside while eating (and especially while having red wine). We were in the little room straight back from the entrance - it might have been a different story for the bigger part of the restaurant.
I am always happy to go to Novita. The food is superb, and the staff is genuinely wonderful.
One of our favorite restaurants! Highly recommend it.
I've lived in NY for almost 10 years, and Novita has become my go-to spot when it comes to Italian. The food is great, and just as importantly, it's consistent. They have a good variety of pastas, and I'm pretty sure they're all made in-house. Would highly recommend if you're in the mood for great pasta. Excellent value too
Over rated and over priced, service and food not worth the price!
One of our very favorites! Consistently outstanding
