Always love Novio’s! The food is top notch and fresh, the cocktails inventive, and the ambiance warm and inviting. The friendly, efficient staff are so knowledgeable and nice, we come as often as we can!
We have eaten here a few times, and it is always an excellent experience.
I frequent Novio's for dinner with my husband, for girlfriends get-togethers and for work meetings, and every visit reminds me just how much I love it there. The staff is friendly and attentive, the owner engages in conversation and checks in with guests, the space is intimate and cozy, and the food and cocktails are creative, made from scratch, and always changing. I can't recommend this place more highly! Don't miss the current menu - the pumpkin tortellini is out of this world!
Food was cool and took 45 minutes . The atmosphere is charming
Incredible vegan alfredo and vegetarian pumpkin tortelloni. Excellent service. Full bar with impressive selection. We will be back many more times, I’m sure!
Almost didn’t book my reservation based on a recent negative review. So happy I did. Absolutely amazing. I had an amazing experience. Food, customer service and the cocktail names. Do yourself a favor and ask for the story behind No Autographs Please. I was laughing so hard with my girlfriend. We decided it was our new favorite spot and we are now gin drinkers.
The food is flavorful, natural and ingeniously crafted. The atmosphere is epic! The restaurant has a crew of passionate employees😁 Some may perceive the prices as expensive, but I believe everything is priced perfectly for the quality in which they are providing! The chocolate mousse is my favorite dessert in Bangor! Keep up the great work! My group had a wonderful time! Thank you for making my mom's bday extra special ❤️
I enjoy dining for the food, but mostly the experience. I have only heard great things about Novio’s from others. However, my first time dining was not as expected based on the experience of countless associates and colleagues who recommended the restaurant. I will say that the food was decent. The oyster appetizer was fresh and my girlfriend really enjoyed them. The appetizer I selected was also good. They beef tenderloin entree that I ordered was more of a medium rather than the rare that I requested. No big deal.
Where things really failed was the service. We both felt “hurried” or pressured for our appetizers and entree orders. We were asked multiple times even before we finished our first cocktail. It did not feel like I was at an upscale restaurant (I know... Bangor, ME), it had the feel of a resort area, tourist trap restaurant, that is only interested in turning tables. We were there for roughly 15 minutes before “Bob”, the owner, came over himself to ask for our entree order. We hadn’t even received our appetizers.
They have several premium spirits behind the bar, but the waitstaff doesn’t know much about them. The menu for the bar wasn’t updated at all (I collect premium bourbon, scotch, etc...). I was told that “Bob” would visit the table and go over their premium selections... I never saw him other than when he asked for the entree order.
I was very unimpressed.
My brother came into town so I had to take him out to my favorite restaurant in Bangor, Novio’s. The service was excellent and extremely attentive. They explained they like to take you entire order, top to bottom, it allows the kitchen time prepare each course, since everything is fresh and handmade. Makes complete sense and how can you not respect that? The cocktails were delicious per usual. And the mouse and ice cream were to die for. My brother was extremely impressed as lived in Boston for over 20 years and enjoys dining out in fine establishments. Thanks again for another great experience! Looking forward to the next one.
This small restaurant has about 8 tables, a hightop with 2 chairs on one side that face the entrance, and ~ 10 bar seats. A reservation is likely needed for a table or more than 2-3 in the party, but large groups are possible. We sat at the hightop which is close to the entrance and backs up to a door. People went through the door and later came out with To-Go food boxes.
When looking through the door, I saw stacked chairs and miscellaneous stuff. Maybe leads to private apartments or employee housing? The atmosphere was bistro-like, good energy and mix of diners. Service was friendly, unhurried, and our special requests met. Getting to the the good part - the food and its presentation scrumptious! Perfectly cooked beef tenderloin and the evening special, seared tuna. Innovative desserts and cocktails as well.
The food was delicious and I really enjoyed the ambiance.
I have never been dissatisfied with Novio’s!!! Looking forward to my next dinner soon !
Excited to introduce my mother to Novio’s for her birthday and, as usual, the restaurant did not disappoint. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent. Cocktails perfection. Looking forward to our next visit.
Met three friends for college for drinks and appetizers at the bar and the staff was so friendly we decided to stay for dinner. Cocktails were unique and fun. The whiskey list is pretty extensive and we were blown away with the knowledge the bartender had about scotch. He may have been the owner? Can’t wait to return with our wives and dive into the wine list.
We had a great evening! We sat at the bar and enjoyed the entire experience, the food and drinks were outstanding, cannot wait to return.
This restaurant was delightful, delicious, and relaxing, with superb food and better service. Given the chance, GO!
Novios might be Maine's best kept secret. We enjoyed the unique cocktail offerings and outstanding menu with delicious options from appetizers to desserts. The lobster chowder is a must have but don't overlook the menu items that feature the fresh produce from their greenhouse. Be sure to save room for dessert, the chocolate mousse doesn't disappoint.
Great as usual
Simply perfect. Didn’t feel overwhelmed by the staff or the menu. Felt welcome and safe with my special friend. Will be back and will bring friends. Thank you for being open to everyone.
A superb dining experience; we live in Portland - Novio's easily ranks among the top ten dining experiences in Maine. This is a bistro with an informal approach to excellence. The décor is modern but warm and welcoming. The food was extremely well prepared and the wine list is thoughtfully structured to match the cuisine. The staff are cheerful, attentive, and clearly intent on delivering a memorable evening.
Thank you Courtney for making the evening so perfect. We asked her to select our courses and pairings and she did an amazing job. I would have never ordered the Maine Oysters or the vanilla macaroons and both were perfect. Thank you we will see you again soon.
The best dining in town, without question. The owners are great people.
I am never disappointed with Novio’s!!!
Going to Novio’s feels like you’re being invited into a friend’s dining room. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is fresh, creative and delicious. The owner greets guests and strikes up conversation, and we always feel like it’s a true dining experience. Loving the Anywhere But Manhattan signature cocktail and the vegetarian bolognese on the current menu!
Came in to celebrate a promotion at work and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the evening. Even with a majority of the tables occupied the staff took their time walking us thru the menu and helping us select cocktails and wine that would pair with our meals. The risotto was amazing and surprisingly the chicken may have stolen the show. Presentation was perfect and so much flavor. Thank you for ensuring this was a night to remember.
I booked Novio’s because of their marketing. Mistake. This is a small, brick walled, low ceilinged space that has the potential to be a GREAT find but I came away with a sad taste in my mouth. They are more impressed with themselves than they deserve to be. The food was okay although the raw chopped Brussels sprouts on my plate were confusing, my partners sandwich was fine. We were celebrating and on arrival ordered 2 glasses of champagne and oysters while we looked at the brief menu. We were told no we couldn’t do that. They wanted the whole order together. I am a trained chef and have eaten at some of the worls’s best restaurants and have never before been told no I couldn’t have something. Bad policy Novio’s. In the hospitality business the answer is always yes and then you figure out how to make that customer happy.
Thank you for a great evening. We made a note about a dietary restriction and they did a great job of ensuring we had several options. Thank you for your consideration. We will be back often.
By far the best experience we have had there. The food was outstanding. Drinks were amazing.
The food is delicious with lots of variety. Presentation is excellent. Ambience is always great, relaxed but upscale at the same time. Always a great dinner whenever we go.
Had dinner at another OpenTable restaurant in Bangor last weekend and I regret not dining here both times. What a great space, staff and experience. I had the risotto and my wife the stuffed chicken. Cocktails were well crafted and everything seemed to be well rehearsed without being stiff or pretentious. We will be back, often.
Exceptional meal, friendly and attentive service, and a warm and intimate setting. Novio's is our number one dinner spot, and we love the rotating menu so we always get to try something new!
Innovative dishes well served in a cozy setting. Could not have been better.
Dropped of our daughter at the university then came out for a “celebratory” dinner. Was perfect. In every way. Thank you for a truly enjoyable evening.
I just love Novio’s! Tonight the Caprese Salad with pesto was perfect. My Lobster and corn risotto was amazing. My husband enjoyed the seafood dish immensely. One of my favorite things bout dining at Novio’s is the ambiance and the camaraderie one feels with the other guests in the restaurant. We always leave feeling well-treated and appreciated and very well fed!
Excellent in all respects.
Foodie standards are met.
Excellent as usual...friends we treated to Novio's expect to go back on their own. Thanks for your wonderful food, service and atmosphere.
Novio’s is one of the best fine dining restaurants in Bangor. The food is prepared excellently, great cocktails, changing menu. One of my favorite places to go!!
We were in our way to another destination and found Novio in a search. Ambiance was amazing...food was outstanding! Cocktails were unique and extra special. We sat at the bar and did not feel overlooked...in fact, felt like we were tended with special attention. Had a terrific experience and hope we can return again!
We had a fabulous dinner at Novio’s. We came to Bangor to attend a performance of Trevor Noah. We hadn’t been to Bangor before so checked Yelp to pick out a restaurant. Made a reservation. Tables weren’t available but we reserved two seats at the counter. Our reservation was for 530 and arrived a few minutes early. Since it wasn’t very busy we were able to talk with the owner, bartender and the owners wife. They were very friendly and helpful. We each picked a drink from their cocktail menu. They were creative and delicious. We split a mezzelunu appetizer which was great. My wife ordered a lobster chowder and a capresse salad. The chowder was fabulous. They grow their own vegetables in a greenhouse. I ordered a pork steak that was large and delicious. It was finished with a tasty barbecue sauce. It was juicy and flavorful. It came with a side of Mac and cheese and greens. I hope to have an opportunity to go back. The food was great. The people were very friendly and made the meal a great experience. The total bill, including tip was $120 including 2 drinks and a glass of wine. I think it was good value for the money.
Very pleasant meal. Relatively small and intimate setting.
