A MUST if you find yourself in this great little city around dinner time! The service is impeccable, the food is absolutely fantastic, fresh and creative, the wine list is wonderful as well as the cocktails. Bob and his staff anticipate your wants and needs perfectly and Chef Cyr orchestrates this most lovely concert to a tee!!!! Be sure you don’t miss this little jewel.
Excellent food, drinks and service. Great choice of entrees, appetizers and desserts and perfect portion size.
came with friends who are from brunswick. i think they were pleasantly surprised and pleased to find a place like Novio's in bangor. they are not as parochial as some from southern maine but they frequent good restaurants and recognize them when they see them
This was my first trip to Novio's and it was amazing. My mother and I had a wonderful time and were very impressed by the menu and atmosphere. The only complaint I had would be that both our plates weren't as warm as we would have liked. The food was certainly cooked perfectly, but felt like it had been sitting for a little bit. However, it was a wonderful meal (probably the best steak / pork chop I've ever had). I will definitely be telling all my friends about your restaurant and can't wait to come back.
My husband and I enjoyed our meal at Novio's. It was our first visit. The food was excellent and the service was great. The table we sat at was fine once our waiter fixed it from wobbling. The only negative was a group at the next table were loud and it was hard to carry a good conversation but we were about ready to leave so it worked out fine.
Outstanding dining experience at Novio's. We have been twice, both times the service was great and the appetizers and meals were fantastic. The exposed brick interior adds a great touch. It's not a super big space, and maybe could feel a bit crowded, but actually I would say cozy in that location. This place has everything going for it, what a find. Highly recommend to people who really like food and don't mind paying what it's worth.
Food and cocktails were incredible! Never been to Bangor before so did not know what to expect from the food scene... Bob the owner was a very professional host. Food and service were the best we had all weekend. Will definitely be returning.
I had dinner at Novio's while in town to visit a friend. We sat at the bar, talked with the owner, enjoyed drinks with multiple courses and it could not have been better. This place is so good!! I rank Novio's at the top of any list comparable to a big city restaurant. Whether you're local or visiting from out of town, do NOT miss dining here.
A true GEM of Bangor! Beautiful setting with a great ambience. Intimate enviorment with a thoughtful and expedient staff.
A fantastic experience - delicious food (the lobster chowder is a winner), friendly service, and super comfortable ambiance. Can’t wait for the next visit!
Great food, great atmosphere. Always a favorite !
Novio's never disappoints. The staff is so welcoming, and the ambience is relaxing and fun. We love to sit at the bar and try the different craft cocktails. The menu changes regularly which makes it fun and interesting to try new things. It's the perfect place to catch up with a close friend or spend a date night! Highly recommended!
Very good food and service. Have recommended Novio’s to several friends and family.
Really enjoyed the chef’s menu and wine pairings; great food and a cozy relaxing atmosphere.
I love this place! It's my favorite in Bangor. That said, my last meal was a disappointment as my mussels were gritty, there was no bread to soak up the sauce, and the onion soup would not be a repeat for me. The meal was a miss, but not the restaurant. I would definitely recommend and go back again.
Dining with my son and husband. The food was super, ambiance cozy and lovely service.
We love everything about Novio's. The food, the atmosphere and the staff, so friendly!!
Great food, locally sourced whenever possible. Chef has a greenhouse nearby, grows much of the veggies. Great place, a bit expensive, but not prohibitively so.
We have been to Novios multiple times. The food is delicious, creative, perfectly cooked, & beautifully presented. The atmosphere is beautiful and comfortable. Service is personal, quality and friendly. We look forward to going again!
FANTASTIC lobster chowder - And my wife’s favorite restaurant in the Bangor area. Great atmosphere.
This restaurant was chic and the menu was beautiful. Every drink was perfect and the meals were amazing. The menu is smaller than a lot of other places but you trade that for perfection of the dish. Even with a smaller menu, the choices ranged from vegetarian to fish to pasta to steak. Well done!! We will recommend it and we will definitely be back
We were disappointed in Novios. The issue was the food. My steak was unusually tough and stringy and the steak knife that was provided was dull, I had to vigorously saw to cut it and at the end my wrist was sore. My wife' lasagna had little flavor, contained very little meat, and the pasta was undercooked. We were surprised by these things particularly since the people who were leaving while we waited spoke highly of the food.
we loved the atmosphere and the host and wait staff were great. very relaxed and cozy. The food was good but not excellent. We would go back and try it again!
We are thrilled with this place and the people every time we go there. You won’t have better lobster stew and my new favorite Manhattan, the Brooklyn.
Superb food, owners very personable and knowledgeable of the menu. Fun atmosphere and great for a date. Would absolutely go there again. Chef is supremely knowledgeable, creative, and pays extra attention to each individual dish coming out of that kitchen. Would recommend to anyone!
There was a new bartender and I found my regular cocktail to be more sweet than flavorful. Also was disappointed to be glutened by my meal. Sadly, once burned, I won't be back (to eat, anyways -- I'd have cocktail).
My wife and I were in Maine to visit our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter and decided to give Novio's a try. Parking was tough, but I think that is always the case in Bangor. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. We ordered drinks and some appetizers and they were fine. Ordered mains and they were good with the exception of the lasagna. It had a kind of tortilla thing on top---not lasagna noodles---and had a strange flavor. Not much sauce. It really wasn't very good. Our granddaughter said in the car going home that grandma's was much better, but she is biased I guess. Dessert was OK---not great, but OK. Overall, the meal was satisfactory, but for $300+ in Bangor, I expected a little more. They had a few reserve wines and they were fairly priced. The biggest issue I had was the seating. We were in a corner booth and the closest table to us was very close. We could hear them...they could hear us. It was really unavoidable. It looked like maybe it was date night for them, but I could tell we were bothering one member of the party. The guy was laughing at some of my granddaughter's silly jokes and seemed cool with things, but his companion...was not pleased. Maybe she didn't like her date...I don't know. The tables were just too darn close to each other. We had a talk with our granddaughter before we arrived and told her that she had to put her nice place/eating out game face on. In my view, she was not out of line for a nine year old kid, but then again, I imagine I am biased. I mean,,,a nine year old joke--what do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef. That's pretty funny, isn't it?
Overall,,,I'd say about a B+. Worth a try. Don't' order the lasagna.
The food was wonderful, everyone was friendly we enjoyed sitting at the bar and interacting with the wait staff. Loved their tasting menu for Valentine's day everything was perfectly paired. Will be back soon.
Second year for Valentines Day and not disappointed. Making this our Valentines Day tradition. Food was amazing and one of the best ambiances we have found. Thank you for the great experience.
Everything was superb from start to finish! The quiet atmosphere allowed for personal conversation, service was fabulous and each course was timed flawlessly. If you're looking for a full flavored, creative menu...you will not be disappointed. I can not express how delicious each course was...truly impressive! Well done Novio's!
Interesting food, well-prepared. Excellent service.
Amazing experience, will be back again for sure. Have recommended this place to a few people already.
Once again, we enjoyed ourselves completely. 2 dozen oysters, from two different local oyster beds were wonderful. Currently, a dozen oysters comes with a chance to win a pearl necklace from a local jeweler!
We also had sublime lamb “popsicles”, gnocchi and the eggplant layered torte.
Accompanied by wonderful cocktails and we split a perfect marshmallow and peanut butter desert.
Sat at the bar with a girlfriend and couldn’t have been happier! We'll be back soon.
Have always enjoyed the food, ambience and drinks here!
Fantastic. 23 anniversary. Bob arranged flowers at the table and oysters we're ready as soon as we arrived.
From the specialty cocktails to the revamped decor to the thoughtful menu options, the owner and Chef Cyr have created a premier addition tot he Bangor dining scene. Their emphasis on fresh and locally sourced ingredients prepared to highlight their qualities is not a unique idea, but so well executed here.
Booked table for anniversary dinner on NYE. Food was so delicious that I ordered a second entree. Ordered a dozen oysters (amazing, pictured), NY strip steak, and lobster risotto (also amazing and pictured).
This was our first time at Novio's after hearing amazing reviews from friends and co-workers. Table was ready when we got there for our reservation, appetizers, meal, drinks and dessert was amazing! Already planning our next dinner there with friends!
My wife and I went the night before New Year's Eve to beat the crowds. It is a very cozy atmosphere, and the food was delicious. Everybody on the staff was friendly and accomodating.
