Restaurant and staff lovely but we were placed at a table beside others with a dog! Staff did move us to another table on request but this will put me off returning! I just don’t want to eat dinner on a Sat night beside a dog (it was not a guide dog). Will make me more aware of restaurant’s policy about pets. It was also a set menu which was not advertised when we booked and we were told there was no alternative!

Lunchtime menu was very limited not the menu I had expected from the website, the fries with the club sandwich were less than hot I chose the restaurant for its location but the overall experience was not worth it

The riverside location of Novelli, Belfast is lovely as is the restaurant interior. It was very, very quiet and even when we were leaving, only 4 tables were occupied! The food was tasty but, in my opinion, not worth the price.

A very attentive waiter giving hints about the food (though unaware of wine), and made a very special gesture for my wife's birthday. The onion soup was presented as Chef Paul Bocuse would have with his VGE soup, though it was too peppery for our taste, with onions roasted ideally though. The chicken was roasted as our butcher in the Provence would do, though the accompanying gravy was far too sweet (why sweet gravy?). We went for a Roussillon red wine, which was ok for the chicken. We were offered to take the bottle home as we only drank one glass each. The view from our table (onto the Belfast harbour) is unique in Belfast, and the fact that they give you textile serviettes (and not paper napkins) show the level of standard of the restaurant and its service (added automatically at 10% which is worth it).

Me and my wife had a beautiful meal at Novellis. We were greeted by the front of house and were promptly taken to our table beside the windows facing the river Lagan. A gorgeous view. I had ordered the Steak Frites and my wife had ordered the pie, both of which were absolutely amazing and my medium-rare steak was cooked to perfection. Our host who was the front of house was fantastic the whole night and couldn’t have done more for us, including chasing up our dessert order as we had to leave early for a show in the SSE. The only downside to the experience was the overall service from the wait staff. The front of house (our host) seemed to be doing everything during our visit, including taking orders, delivering food to the tables, managing drink orders as well as booking in the number of people at the front desk. In fact he was nearly running the entire night. There were 4 other wait staff on who seemed to be wasting a lot of time, standing around and chatting or just taking food to tables and nothing else. They were walking around tables rather than helping the front of house and we couldn’t get their attention at any stage. We stacked up our dishes to make it easier for the staff so that we could order a dessert as quickly as possible because unfortunately we had to leave shortly. The wait staff walked past our table multiple times without taking our dishes and in fact another table was left for over an hour before it was cleared, but by the front of house rather than the wait staff. Not sure if it’s down to inexperience or possibly new staff but the workload didn’t seem balanced whatsoever unfortunately for our host. Bar that, the food was absolutely phenomenal so hats off to the chefs at Novellis for the amazing meal!

Lovely spot. Slow service though and only a couple of other tables but plenty of staff. Left sitting with no offer of drinks. Had to ask to place order. Not sure how they would cope if busy. Food was lovely if a bit overpriced.

Taking advantage of the Open Table-listed Date Night "experience" (but not, in any way, listed on the restaurant menu), the value-for-money was very good. Service at first was somewhat slow (12 minutes) owing to both short-staffing and a Friday night Happy Hour packing the place. From then on however it was fine and the food was all fine, especially the potatoes. It was a cold, rainy night and staying-in (as hotel guests) was a bonus.

We were a party of six and five of the six had the two course menu. I ordered the Burger with Raclette cheese. The chips were just about warm and floppy. The burger was OK but the amount of cheese made no difference to the taste of the burger. I ordered the Creme Brûlée for dessert and unfortunately this was not great it just tasted like custard and there were no flavours of vanilla. I was disappointed in the meal as I had chosen the venue for a number of family members who had never met before.

The service was pretty poor. A host sat us in our seats but never came near us all night. We waited at the bar 20+ minutes for a drink and had to serve ourselves. Food was good. Location is great but service could really be improved. The bar staff were friendly.

In all honesty we were not pleased at all. The server behaved like they were petrified to take our order. Those who ordered chicken or ham toasties were not happy that the bread was toasted but the inside the was cold, the ham wasn't ham hock it was sliced ham and the cheese wasn't even melted. To top it off one persons calamari was forgotten and had to wait. I have been more than once at lunchtime and was really not impressed on this occasion.

An extremely enjoyable experience. What made it so was the high level of of service. Our waiter was friendly, humorous, well informed and totally engaged. We’d go back for him if nothing else. Food was delicious. A very enjoyable experience all round.

I booked last minute for Date Night. Never had been to Novelli at City Quays. Well what a hidden gem! Great service, menu choices & enjoyable experience! Superb value for money and we look forward to getting back as soon as possible - give it a try I’d be surprised if you regret it. Certainly notched up my brownie points lol

The AC Marriot is lovely and restaurant is overlooking the river, views of the Titanic building and the SSE complex. Deborah was our server, she was very pleasant and helpful as was her female colleague, can’t recall her name. The date night meal includes a decent wine and starters and desserts were excellent, my rump steak was tasty but I left some and told the waiter that it was unfortunately not very tender: I noticed that other steaks looked smaller than mine so perhaps they were better rested .. My husband devoured his shin beef pie. Wine was excellent, cocktails also well made. Bar a bit slow when a group came in. It was happy hour two cocktails for one so that slowed things down - our friends joined us for the evening and the atmosphere was good, a guy on guitar sang in the background. We would definitely come back and weather permitting book to sit on the veranda.

Soup very good but disappointing with it. Main fish dish disappointing. Shared cheeseboard insufficient though "jam" was good. Service poor eg. Had to go to bar to remind about cheeseboard after long wait. Cocktails tasted very good but highly overpriced.

We didn’t want a heavy meal so we booked a table outside and shared a pizza, olives & a focaccia bread. We had a lovely relaxing evening and enjoyed it so much. The staff were attentive but not too much. We will be back ……very soon!
