Diners can enjoy the full Nougatine menu or sip on a signature cocktail at the outdoor bar. The Terrace is situated next to Central Park in Columbus Circle. Plush lounge seating enhances the relaxing setting and makes this outdoor space the best place to enjoy a sunny day in New York City.
Great food. Poor service. Three different beers were ordered by 3 of us. Server gave us the wrong beers - got the other person’s beer. Had to redo order. Same with dinners. Server did not keep track of who ordered what.
We were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. Claire, our hostess was wonderful in her hospitality and accommodating us. We enjoyed our dishes especially the fois gras. The restaurant helped us celebrate with an amazing passion fruit sorbet encased in a meringue sphere.
My friends and went there for brunch. The food was great, but the service was lacking (to say the least). Not sure how, but they managed to screw up everything imaginable (and unimaginable). They even managed to serve our food while forgetting the utensils, so we sat there watching our food getting cold while no one could get us knives and forks. They did manage, however, to come ask about how our food was. We requested utensils then (for the second time). Still, took them good 5+ minutes to get it to us. Quite amazing, considering the place was half-empty.
While the food was the same amazon jean George, the experience was disappointing. The service was spotty - we had to ask for bread, the water was warm. You could smell the cigarette smoke from the other side and the lighting was way too dark.
Terrible service - appetizer arrived before drink and drink was only a whiskey neat
Excellent food! Remarkable wine pairing, my friends and I enjoyed the evening.
We had a wonderful meal. Outstanding lunch, hand crafted cocktails and service!
Very long wait to be served - I attribute this to arriving right as the restaurant was open.
The terrace at Nougatine is a perfect spot to enjoy an outdoor lunch or dinner weather permitting. The chef never disappoints.
My friend found an insect in the plate...Staff was very nive but we had to leave...
Wine was sour! Nobody apologized. We done a lot here, however there is a huge gap between the stuff serving inside and outdoors!
For a Jean George establishment, I was deeply disappointed at our experience. Service was awful - our wine came an hour after we ordered it and the entrees came 90 minutes after that (this was only after we went up to check in with the wait staff on where it was). The server came at the end of the service and apologized half heartedly with a free coffee. For the amount of money we spent on lunch, I expected more. Will never go back.
Nothing exceptional about the salads. The fish choice on the prix fix was very good but the dessert made it all worth it.
Jean-George’s is my first stop in NY from San Francisco. Always delicious. Always exceptional service. Thank you for staying perfect!
Forgot it was restaurant week so the service was very off and slow and had to talk to the manager- but he was very sorry and brought wine and dessert. Still one of my favorite places
Went to Nougatine Terrace at Jean-Georges during the NYC restaurant week. The dinner menu has three courses. Appetizer is watermelon with goat cheese, which is a creative dish. The lava chocolate dessert is impressive. However, when I book the table via google map, it didn't tell me it was on terrace until I called to confirm. Would have been better if it were indoor.
Nougatine Terrace is so little known to out of towners that I hesitate to review it, but here goes. Excellent three course restaurant week tasting menu, top notch wine list with excellent wines at all price points and a quiet, hedge enclosed terrace. What more could you want in NYC?
Quite gross for a Michelin two star / Relais & Chateaux restaurant to serve a dish (fish namely) with hair. Reflecting poor hygienic standards.
Still my favorite outdoor dining experience in ALL the city. Please don't tell anyone so that it doesn't become over-run. My Cousin joined me, he was a virgin and loved the evening as we celebrated my birthday. He was thrilled as we were leaving to have the opportunity of meeting the MASTER himself in the lobby, Mr JG.
The cocktails, wine and food were outstanding and our waitress was knowledgeable and very good.
We'd certainly return when we are in the area again!!
Disappointing. This is my favorite venue and it really did not meet expectations. First, the table near the bushes was buggy, and we were bitten by mosquitos. Second, the food came very slow. This was a mid-week late night dinner, and it was not at all busy. The appetizers took more than 45 mins to come out, and then the main course another 30. We only ordered very simple items, and felt like we were waiting and waiting for our food. We were served water often which was nice, but only bread one time and not offered any additional bread than once. We also waited for the check while our server was chatting in the corner. For a Jean Georges restaurant, the overall night was disappointing. The food was delicious, as it always is, but I'm not planning to return for a long while. Sorry.
Well prepared food not on radical cutting edge anymore but classic and artful flavors. Good for romance, friends who like food. Service is almost over attentive
Nice place.
If I could I'd eat here every week . Outstanding food , wine , drinks and service.
I’m sorry to notice that their service gets worse every time I come back ( which is fairly recurrent) they have the WORST service outside specially .
The food was terrible. I can’t believe that a restaurant of this caliber would be capable of serving what they served. Not everything was bad but the duck was completely an inedible piece of over cooked gray meat with burned skin. What is worst- No one cared! At all! We had to return our meal, Pay the bill and leave. Without having anything to eat.
Do not go to this restaurant. They Will ruin any special occasion.
Exceptional service! Apps and deserts were outstanding. Entrees were a little disappointing.
Unfortunately the service was very bad. We received little to no attention. Received pancakes with no syrup, eggs with no toast only one refill of drinks. Asked for toast 6 times and we finally received it wrapped in napkins after our plates were already taken away. Manager was involved but no help. Given the experience we asked for the check and had to wait another 20 minutes for the check. Manager did take half the bill off but unfortunately given the reviews we were looking forward to a nice brunch and did not have one.
We were late but it didn't matter as the terrace was rather empty. We wouldn't have needed a reservation. Unlike other recent commenters, our service was as it should be for a place off this caliber. I thought my shrimp salad was ok but the faux thousand island dressing was surprising. My friend and I both had the luncheon pork chop. It was well grilled and quite large, if a little salty. I had a rhubarb trifle for desert that was quite fine. All in all, it was generally what I expect for a house of this caliber.
Wsalad too peppery otherwise food was good. Potions on the price fixed very small. The service was beyond slow. No response when we complained. Lunch took over 2 hrs without liquor
Outside lacks any ambience, service is very blasé. Food was very good!
Excellent service and food, as usual !! Sat in the outdoor terrace!!
The best always!
I have been a regular at nougatine for years. And love the terrace. But the fact that the menu really never changes or deals with any “seasonality” is too bad. I want to continue to come but I am pretty tired of this menu!!
Warning: in Trump tower
Delicious meal but service wasn’t very attentive. We had to ask for a few things throughout the dinner and we waited for a dessert menu that never came so ended up asking for the check.
We sat outside on Saturday night and it should have been lovely. The atmosphere is great the service is very good and the food is very good. But there was a guy having cocktails and smoking a cigar. It's illegal and no one did a thing. The cigar smoke was horrible and it ruined what should have been a very special occasion. Other people were commenting on it too.
The staff ignored it for some weird reason. I know smoking is illegal in a restaurant and in an outdoor cafe in NYC.
The food is every bit as wonderful as in the adjacent Jean-Georges dining room -- and from the same kitchen at half the price. The outdoor air is refreshing, the service is good (if slow), and because the cuisine is divine, what's not to love?
Summertime dining on the outdoor terrace is as good as it gets
I want to start-off saying that I don’t usually take the time to write reviews unless it was exceptionally good or unbelievably bad. My overall experience at Nougatine last night left me never wanting to come back mostly due to the poor service. My table was ignored most of the night and I spent a lot of time waiting for our waitress to show up. And when the food came they brought me a dish that I did not order, so I had to wait for my dish to be prepared again. It wasn’t a big deal to me, but I did expect an apology from our waitress, but that never happened. The Maitre’d did come by 10 mins later and gave us a brief apology, but that was the extent of it. My wife ordered fish, so I didn’t want her dish to get cold. She ate her dish while I watched and when my dish finally came she was already done, so it was her turn to watch me while I ate. Not my ideal way to spend our anniversary. My wife’s hake was delicious, but my beef tenderloin was not good. It was dry and under-seasoned. No one came by to ask how our food was. After they cleared our table, our waitress was no where to be found, and it took another round of waiting before we ordered our desserts. Our experience last night was a very disappointing one, especially since it was our 2nd time dining at Nougatine. We had such a great experience the first time that we came back expecting a similar experience. We unfortunately didn’t get that and the poor service ruined our evening.
