A little disappointed they discontinued weekend price fixe lunch; but the food and service was wonderful and I will be back often.
Disappointing front-of-the- house service. Poor attitude from maître d after her assistant tried to seat us a table which was clearly uncomfortable (especially for such a supposedly fine restaurant).
Ended up eating at the bar - which our bartender/server, Charlie, made a great experience (he gets 5 stars, the Maitre d gets one) . Food is always very good, as is the wine.
Maitre D needs a refresher course in quality hospitality.
The food and service are always excellent. Tuna tartare appetizer is fabulous
calamari was the best ever! nice menu. I was with a group of ladies, some wanted an appetizer and salad, some wanted entrée. Enough choices for all. Food was very good. Service outstanding. I would definitely go again.
Snooty staff at entrance. Starters arrived before drunks did
The food was divine, and the service was outstanding. The lunch price fixe is exceptional value. Highly recommended.
Have eaten at JG restaurants since his first, Lafayette at the St. Regis, and this occasion was in keeping with his superlative standards and inventiveness. The buratta with carmelized lemon peel was memorable. Every gracious as always.
Veal Milanese was so great in its delicate and sophisticated taste. I went several times to Milan. However, I prefer Jean George’s Milanese to Milan’s in its taste.
This is a top restaurant in New York. The food is terrific. Huge fan of Jean George restaurants--this one is right there. The tuna tartare is memorable and I cannot wait until I get to taste it again. The service was excellent as is expected at all JG restaurants. Love the room, vibrant yet inviting. Highly recommend!
Hostess is excellent communicator! Great Service and excellent food as always...
Love this restaurant.
Each time we are in Manhattan we dine at Jean George’s. There is only one word to describe our experience...perfection!
The food is ambrosial. The service attentive and gracious. One of my favorites. Jean George is a genius.
They have a fabulous terrace and this is the first time I was inside. There is zero ambiance and it is pricey for what you get.
The main course was very nice.
I love this place and it is consistently excellent. It’s one of my faves in the city.
I recommend it for everything! It is a favorite of ours for lunch or dinner -- everyday or special-occasion dining. I especially love the tuna tartare and anyone who has had it wants to go back again just for the tuna tartare. I also like the kale salad. The room has a nice vibe and the staff from the front desk to the wait staff is very nice.
Tout était plus que parfait ! Un must à New York pour les fins palais
A pasta memorable for having so much black pepper it was inedible. The food here used to be so
good when The Chef was in residence.
Food is very tasty. The wine list is extremely over priced (most bottles >$1000). There are several more affordable bottles but they are few and far between. Second time dining here was on a Saturday night (8:30 reservation) to celebrate my husbands birthday. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a family of 6 (4 kids) who were incredibly misbehaved. The entire dinner they were getting up and down from their seats, squeezing past our table almost knocking our food and bottle of wine off of our table. There were many open tables at this time and we should have either been seated elsewhere or moved as it was terribly distracting. Otherwise, the restaurant did bring out a candle with dessert which was a special touch.
When we arrived by cab to learn the restaurant is in a Trump hotel, that almost killed the deal. But, we're glad we stayed and had a most memorable time. Highly recommend the tasting menu and relying on the sommelier.
Disappointing. Nothing was bad but nothing was exceptional, which given the pedigree was surprising. We had the tasting menu and some of the creation was questionable. Trying too hard and falling short.
Just as you would imagine a swanky New York restaurant to be.
Our second visit, and eqalled the exceptional food and service we received the first time. Modern, carefully chosen and streamlined decor. Seated immediately at time of reservation, with request for a window table honored. Service was unobtrusive and never rushed. Comfortable, accommodating atmosphere.
I have eaten here several times for dinner, but this was the first brunch. The brunch experience was not pleasant. We were seated next to two large tables with children. In addition to all of the noise that children and toddlers generate, the diners at the tables repeatedly got up to take pictures of themselves, of their food, and of the restaurant. Not only did they bump our table several times, but they impeded service to surrounding tables and our table. At no time did any restaurant staff (including the floor manager) do anything to stop this. Our brunch turned out to be nothing more that an overpriced visit to Chuck E. Cheese’s.
My wife’s favorite for always excellent food in a casual but elegant atmosphere
Excellent food offerings
Service could have been better, but staff were very friendly and kept to the schedule since we had a performance to attend
Consistenly good menu and dishese. Attentive staff. Great anniance. Can find at least a few less expensive wines.
The foods were good and the restaurant clerks were very kind.
LUNCH. Top notch in every regard. Wonderful server and even better meal. Even for food snobs it’s tough to criticize this place. We were there for the $38 prix fixe and it is bar none among the best deals in the city, especially for high end dining at a more than reasonable price point. If I had a gun to my head, the one knock is that the portions aren’t huge, so if you come with a voracious appetite you may find yourself eating a lot of bread! Quality not quantity.
Appetizer is better than main.
Food is always fantastic
Service could be better (table booked at 8:45 pm ... seated 25 minutes later. 3 people on a table more suitable for two.
But very nice waiter.
Very bad service.
Inaccurate menu : if you want red snapper, order sea bass!
I don’t understand why Jean Georges, who is amazing, accepts this!
The butterscotch pudding was amazing. Beyond this dish and the tomato soup, the meal was lackluster and not memorable. Service was over attentive through our first course. After that they made mistakes such as who received which entree, which cutlery we needed, and the waiter disappeared until we had the dessert menus for 30 seconds and wanted our order (seem miffed that we weren't ready). But the kicker was after we ate our dessert, I could not get anyone to our table to ask for the check. We waited over 20 minutes. This was my 2nd visit there and my first visit was superb unlike this dinner. I won't be back.
The overriding aspect of the experience was how rushed it was, as though there was a countdown clock on the table. I assume that is the business model, but it ruined the meal. The food is good but not exceptional, and even the fixed price lunch is overpriced. The room is pleasant enough. The staff worked hard to be pleasant and polite as they rushed us. I had the impression that even they were uncomfortable with the approach, which was not at all subtle. I was afraid to put down my fork, since it brought the waiter rushing to try to take my plate.
In the pick-list above about what occasion the restaurant is good for, I suggest adding "obligatory lunch with someone whose company you don't much enjoy", since it goes by so fast.
Have been there several times. Each time, the food was excellent, the service was excellent everything was excellent. The only downside was while waiting the few minutes for our table to be ready, we had to wait in the lobby of the trump hotel.
Mostly, it was a good experience with the exception of the coffee, which was unpalatable. At our table, regular coffee and decaf both tasted bitter and as if they had been in a pot too long. Another of our guests complained that the decaf espresso was similarly undrinkable. The servers were lovely and accommodating: offered us fresh cups which we declined.
Utterly disappointing! Had the tasting menu with wine pairing. No information what kind of wines were being paired. Would have ordered separately. Total waste of money as the flavor of food was either bland or too strong. No amount of good service is going to make up for poor food at that price.
Lovely restaurant, great food, attentive service. We particularly enjoyed the kale salad, paccheri with meatballs, and sweet corn souffle. Highly recommended.
It is always excellent. In some ways, even more satisfying than it's next door neighbor-Jean Georges.
The service was very poor and lazy it was disapointing....
Nougatine remains a favorite due to the quality of experience and food. Not overly solicitous service but attentive. My salmon tasted a bit mushy, which can indicate that it was previously frozen then thawed too quickly, but I mentioned it to the waiter and he offered to have another piece prepared. I said that it wasn’t necessary. He later comped is a dessert, which was nice.
