About Nougatine at Jean Georges

Nougatine is the more casual sister of Jean-Georges, with a very lively bar scene at night. The restaurant attracts a mix of celebrities, socialites, and movers and shakers in the business world. Adjacent to the formal Jean-Georges dining room, Nougatine serves the signature and seasonal dishes of Chef Jean-Georges for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, 365 days a year. The menu is more casual than that offered at Jean-Georges but still market driven, utilizing only the freshest and finest ingredients. In addition to providing gorgeous views of Central Park, the newly renovated dining room by Thomas Juul-Hansen features a bustling, immaculate open kitchen. Tones of brown and cream mingle to create an elegant space that is soothing by day and exciting by night. Nougatine offers a prix-fixe lunch menu Monday through Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Can't go wrong. Never disappointed here. When not sure what to order because of so many great selections, the staff always provides great details to help make a decision. I've never been disappointed in a recommendation.

Lovely dinner with friends. Food was delicious. I had the burrata and veal and although portions were big, I ate it all and it was delicious. My friends had the lobster and said it was also delicious. Enjoyed our evening watching the snow fall in Central Park outside the window and chatting. Service was perfect. Pace was not rushed at our request but was attentive without being intrusive.

The Food was incredible, something on the menu for everyone. The Service was inbecable, not intursive but gracious. The meal was well paced not rushed and we all felt very much at home. I would certainly go again and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional meal and dinning experience.

Jean Georges is a high water mark in a city already focused on quality dining. The setting in the Trump Tower overlooking the Park can’t be beat. Everything we had, from the peeky-toed crab cake to the perfectly executed Dover Sole, was perfect. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We dined here a few years ago and our experience recently was even better. Looking forward to our next visit.

I often dine at this neighborhood restaurant. The lunch this time was superb. An excellent selection and very tasty. I particularly enjoyed the salmon filet with pepper crust and root vegetables in a squash puree. It's such a pleasant setting that my friend and I were chatting away not realizing that we had indeed treated ourselves to a three hour lunch!

We celebrated Valentine's Day a bit early at Nougatine, shortly after a recital at Carnegie Hall.

The level of service at Nougatine really stands out, which isn't surprising when you consider it's part of the highly rated Jean Georges. The menu is limited, but there appeared to be something for just about any taste. My wife enjoyed the Lobster, while I had the bacon wrapped pork chop. Both were exceptional.

The atmosphere was clean and modern and our table offered a nice view of Central Park and Columbus Circle. In fact, I have to give a special shout out to the matradee that made sure we were seated a table with a little romance, when he noticed my wife holding a bouquet of flowers.

We had been here several times a couple of years back and liked it then. It was still rated highly so we brought our friends. Very disappointing. I guess it’s just become a place for tourists. Too bad. UWS needs better restaurants.

Remarkable food that is worthy of a Michelin star in its own right and should not be overshadowed by its big brother.

The location is great . Parking is at the back of the building. You have to walk from the outside to get to the front door. The service is amazing. The waiters are very responsive and efficient, The food is fantastic. Crockery and cutlery was very well selected. The crockery is from some pottery designer in NY state. I wanted the name of the maker but the waiter was unable to find out. The teapots were also beauiful , again I wanted to know who was the manufacturer/ brand

The food was 5/5. My fish was cooked perfectly and the sauces exquisite.
The soup was sumptuous and the dessert that I had was a chocolate lava cake , it was heavenly.

I went in for the Restaurant week menu that they had posted online in advance which happened to be totally different when we showed up there. And I know their Restaurant week menu was supposed to change every week which is why I checked the menu the morning of. It took them a good 20 minutes to bring over our bottle of wine and our cocktail (Every single time we ordered one). My husband and a Friend ordered the Ribeye for 2 which was supposed to be their signature dish and that too was wayy below average and was super dry. The only thing we all loved was the Foie Gras Brulee. The worst part was the server NEVER even once checked up on us to ask how the food was. I mean come on, When you go to a sister property of a Michelin Star Restaurant, you go in with at least a few expectations. This was my 6th restaurant week dinner over the last 3 weeks and was going to be the Grand Finale because of how much I had heard about he restaurant but as much as it hurts to say this, it was my LEAST favorite.
I definitely would never ever go back there.

We ordered the $38 prix-fixe lunch set and the overall experience is disappointing. First, they even did not clean fork! The butter was so hard to put on the super sour bread. The dressing for tuna tartare and scallop was salty. Chocolate cake was the only thing we like for that lunch.

I’m so sad+disappointed with our experience at Nougatine! I was so excited to try a Jean George Michelin restaurant for the first time, ever since my friend went and finding out it was restaurant week when my friends & I were in NYC. But when the food came out, the taste was super disappointing! Two of my friends shrimp appetizers were overcooked and rubbery. The yuzu sauce was very sour for my tuna tartare appy and scallop+squash entree, too much yuzu in random dishes! My husband’s salmon was well done instead of medium rare. They mixed up all the desserts, gave us the wrong ones we didn’t order, and didn’t apologize for it. I totally understand it’s busy during restaurant week. But I had high standards for a three star Michelin restaurant and it was felt like an underwhelming chain restaurant in the end. Presentation of the food was nice, but the taste was definitely not there.

After a long time not visiting Nougatine, we went for NYC Winter Restaurant Week. The place was super busy. Jean-Georges Vongerichten was on the floor of the restaurant when we walked in. The restaurant week menu was so limited and unappetizing that we decided to go with their regular Lunch menu. What a disappointment! Let’s review: tuna tartar was just ok (had better tartars in a few other places in Manhattan); the veal scaloppini: totally unacceptable; the filet of fish was good; the desserts were good. The service could have been better. I asked for a cup of hot water and a waiter brought a small pitcher of hot water but no cup, when I asked where he thought I was going to drink the hot water, he said “in your water glass”! Will try again but not during NYC Restaurant week.

Stopped in for restaurant week dinner and it was a real treat. The menu is small (only two choices for each course), but we got to try the following:

Shrimp (pumpkin seeds and squash puree were both fantastic, and portion size was good -- about 5 shrimp for an appetizer)
Chicken (it's on a bed of sea beans with a salty broth -- lots of salt, but the chicken itself was delicious; boneless with an amazing crispy skin)
Mushroom pasta (tasty but forgettable. The pasta is a little doughy and the mushrooms a little bland)
Chocolate Lava Cake (this changed my life. It is SO GOOD. The inside is warm and gooey and the caramel ice cream is nice and buttery... ugh, I miss it).

It's dark and romantic, pretty quiet, great wine list. Wish it weren't in the Trump Hotel, but it is what it is.

Service was excellent; food was delicious - the chocolate cake dessert was fabulous. The only slightly negative comment I have is that the restaurant week menu on the website was different than the actual menu we saw at the restaurant. We asked our server and he said that menu was from last week. We chose this restaurant based on that old menu and were a little disappointed to find it was outdated. However, the food we ordered was delicious nonetheless and the restaurant week menu was a great value!

We got reservation on the Restaurant Week menu.
At the restaurant the menu was different. Instead of flounder it was pasta. I asked why? The waitress said they change restaurant week menu every week, though even today on website you can see flounder. To make this story short, we ordered fish and everything else from the main menu. The food was expensive and not tasty at all.

They cut corners too much. Every restaurant week menu is less in value than the previous one. 2018 choices (main course) were just OK. Completely different (negative) experience than two, three years ago. Don't bother, there are better choices even for the NYC restaurant week.

I have been to Nougatine on many occasions and until this recent visit was favorably impressed.
The food offerings were disappointing. An appetizer of Shrimp over squash was tasty but not exceptional. The chicken entree was quite average and less than the quality that I have been used to in the past.
The service was good and the ambience comfortable.

When we planned to eat at Nougatine, we were not thinking of Restaurant Week, but once there we decided to order from the RW menu. We began with a lovely glass of champagne, followed by the shrimp appetizer, the pasta and the chicken mains, and the chocolate dessert. We were more than pleased with all our choices (the portions were generous), Our server was excellent and a request for a change of table was graciously honored. Note: Jean Georges was on the premises; perhaps that made a difference. Regardless, a lovely meal.
