About Nougatine at Jean Georges
Nougatine is the more casual sister of Jean-Georges, with a very lively bar scene at night. The restaurant attracts a mix of celebrities, socialites, and movers and shakers in the business world. Adjacent to the formal Jean-Georges dining room, Nougatine serves the signature and seasonal dishes of Chef Jean-Georges for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, 365 days a year. The menu is more casual than that offered at Jean-Georges but still market driven, utilizing only the freshest and finest ingredients. In addition to providing gorgeous views of Central Park, the newly renovated dining room by Thomas Juul-Hansen features a bustling, immaculate open kitchen. Tones of brown and cream mingle to create an elegant space that is soothing by day and exciting by night. Nougatine offers a prix-fixe lunch menu Monday through Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Nougatine at Jean Georges Ratings and Reviews
The PreFix lunch is great value and the food itself is quite good - but not great. The waiter we had serve us was EXCELLENT- but the Sommelier (well dressed female with no friendliness or sign of interest in what she does) was an “uptight” - there are a lot of “would-be if they could be” types talking big deals everywhere - and lots of tourists.
My favorite NYC restaurant (along with Perry St)...
10:45 PM Reservation after Theater - very chaotic in check in area as so many leaving and needing coats / so brief wait...
Menu changed recently - lobster choice - usually a favorite - a bit odd with shoestring potatoes covering entire dish ...just fair...no steak choice unless you want it for 2!
Appetizer arrived but NO amuse bouche - asked and apology - It did arrive but if supposed to be hot - not ...
Still love it - but not my usual great experience - Waiter very nice .....
This remains one of our favorite places to eat in the neighborhood . While the menu does not change often, all the items are good. Favorites include the sole, the chicken and the veal. The sushi on toasted rice appetizer and the calamari are both great and all of the desserts kill
Without a doubt Nougatine exceeds your expectations - outstanding food, attentive professional service , superb setting - little wonder I come back half way round the world to dine there - it’s the best food you can ever imagine - the stuff of dreams and I’ve been a food writer/ editor and food tv / broadcaster since 1989 so I have had great meals in my time but this is simply divine !
Had brunch at Nougatine over the summer and was really impressed - wonderful food and service.
Went back this weekend and was greatly disappointed with my meal. I had poached eggs with roasted mushrooms. That was served on a 'bed' of fresh green herbs- but the herbs were not all fresh. Lots of black, dried shriveled bits of dill and mint. I would expect, at this level of fine dining, that the kitchen would plate food with only the freshest produce. The croissant I ordered on the side ($5) was very small (I was okay with that), but it was ice cold and stale - like it had been pulled out of the refrigerator and was baked the day before. I am addicted to the croissants at Breads Bakery, around the corner, and thought that I'd try a Jean-Georges croissant, expecting it to be flaky, light, buttery. Nope. It was like an old Pilsbury package-bake one.
Seems like management has changed, or they just don't care about the details as much...or I was just lucky this summer when I went for the first time, catching them on a good day.
Won't eat here again.
Takes reservations until 11 PM but closes the kitchen at 11:15 PM. Rushed service, out of two selected wines by the glass, out of the selected bourbon, two really disappointing dishes - one a pasta with meatballs and a sauce so spicy, my lips were burning; the other an artichoke presented with no thought, originality or taste. Too many other good options in New York to waste your time on this one. Recommendation - PASS!
Incredible evening! My wife and I are never disappointed when we dine at the Bar at Nougatine, where the drinks by Charlie and Patrick are among the best we have ever had. This was our anniversary and all the Bar Staff - in particular Patrick - were outstanding and made us feel very special. We will be back again very soon!
I wanted to enjoy this dinner so much as my husband is a huge Jean Georges fan. To begin, when we arrived the host had a hard time finding our reservation. Then, the restaurant did not have any black napkins for those of us not wearing white. Bread was very sloppily served and tossed over our butter knives. We had to ask for a second serving of bread as nobody was watching, and once again bread was carelessly served. The wine menu was incredible and we had an amazing bottle. We ordered the foie gras brulet -the foie gras was bland but the fig jam on the side was delicious. I ordered sea bass which was underdone (and bland). Upon cutting into it, my plate became very watery. The broccoli under my fish was completely overcooked. I did not eat most of my dinner. My husband ordered pork and it was delicious. Molten chocolate cake for dessert was delicious. Although we were there for a late seating (I read that this place was a top pick for late night dining), I would still have expected better service and appropriately cooked food. I would not recommend or return.
I never tire of the spectacular combination of culinary excellence, artistic presentation in a soothing, classy environment...and service European Hospitality of fine restaurants...What's not to love...And their lunch is a great value.
Not to be missed is the shrimp salad in champagne vinaigrette as an appetizer.
We were looking forward to dinner at Jean Georges Nougatine. We weren't able to get in to the main dinning room when we made our reservation. Dinner was good but not up to the standard we were used to for Jean Georges. Perhaps Nougatine isn't expected to be up to par with JG's main dinning room. The food was good but nothing that you would remember. Maybe next time!
Pleasant atmosphere and service. Disappointed in the taste of the food- had expected better. Had the poppy crusted salmon. The sauce served with it detracted rather than enhanced the dish. Dining companions did not like the unanticipated sweetness of the fois gras.Short ribs ok. Appetizer- salad with the shrimp was the best of the dishes we had.
Nougatine is the more casual sister to Jean-Georges. Nevertheless, the service was excellent and the food was sublime. It's a bright, busy ambiance, with lots of energy. I had lots of vegetarian choices available to me. I chose the tomato soup, penne pasta and an amazing passion fruit Pavlova. All were truly delicious. I felt welcome and enjoyed the meal.
It was heartwarming to see the chef come out from the kitchen to pose for a picture with a young girl who was celebrating her birthday.
Dined here for Sunday breakfast. Overall the food was very enjoyable but the service was sub par. We had a variety of breakfast items and they were all very good.
The service is usually fantastic but this time there were quite a few minor mistakes and overall inattention. We had to ask the waiter for one of our items because the food runners never brought it. We ended up getting it after the meal because the waiter did not check in on us before then. We had to ask to have a coffee refilled after the first cup was gone. The waiter did not give one of us a knife when he set the table. Small things like these plus a few more gave us the impression the wait staff did not have their act together or were not trained well.
