Notkins Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I went for lunch on Tuesday mid-afternoon. We shared oysters and a few apps, all of which were delicious. Our server was wonderful!! She may have been the bartender, not quite sure, but she was lovely, and very helpful with selecting the oysters! Great find for oyster lovers!
Notkins is unique. A raw bar unlike most in Montreal. We really enjoyed the atmosphere including some great 70s rock - but not too loud!
The service went above and beyond the call of duty, as a small issue with our dish noted almost after we finished was repaired with a complete replacement dish! We were impressed.
The clam bake and scallop risotto were excellent, but the fresh oysters really stood out!
The wine list is excellent though expensive.
Overall we were very pleased and well fed with an impressive meal.
When we arrive the restaurant was closed. Somebody was inside and told us that they had a last minute technical problem and that the restaurant was closed for the day. Nobody called or emailed us to let us know. So we had to walk around and look for another restaurant which was not easy with the very low temperature.
Unusual but well thought out seating plan. Superb seafood very well presented, fresh, nice sauces. Very pleasant and attentive service. A bit pushy on the alcohol consumption. Spectacular bar and large windows. Can get a bit loud. Unobstrusive TV’s. Good music (60’s) A bit pricey....or rather, perhaps the prices of the seafood should be better advertised, if not in the menu, on a board. I will go again
Always wanted to drop by to have oysters and finally had a chance to go.
At our office opening we had an Oyster bar which was handled by Notkins.
It was a big hit with our guests. So I continue along that thought in saying that the experience in the Restaurant was even better. Great crew, professional, knowledgeable people with sincere recommendations. We were only bothered when necessary so our business lunch was comfortable and accomplish lots. Thank you everyone !!!! Happy holidays
I unfortunately had the worst experience ever experienced in my life. We were a group of 4 and ordered a plate of seafood to share. As I was eating the mussels, there happened to be something moving at the lining of the mussle. It was turning and going up then back down. We called a waiter as soon as we saw one and asked to have our waiter to the table. The waiter told us that she was busy at the moment so we explained what was going on and told him it might have been a parasite but he said it was nothing, disregarded us and walked away as if we were inventing what we all saw. We left everything behind, didn’t finish our meal and felt very disgusted. We felt like he didn’t do anything to help us therefore we will never go back to this restaurant again.
The food is very good but the service is terrible. It took a long time to be served, then after appetizers took long for our meal to arrive. After dinner the waiter was nowhere to be found. I was seated upstairs amd the ambience on the too floor is boring. I went to this restaurant 2 years ago and the service was also poor. I doubt I’d go back..
THIrd time at Notkins.
Really like the design , the buzz.
Meant for eating and sharing seafood. Service, while attentive is somewhat disorganized. You ask for something and then someone else comed by the table and is not aware of your request. My 1st time, the fish taco was a winner. The last 2 times, it was disappointing, 2nd time too spicy, this time the spices were notmixed in correctly?
Idin’t know if they changed the recipe or chef.
Other choices that were not hits is the fritto misto. The risotto was, on the other hand, very tasty. The scallops were ok.
Would give it another chance but seems to be going downwards.
We had an incredible experience for a birthday diner party. Food is amazing, the seafoods are fresh. What an amazing service from our waitress Jessica! The ambiance is cosy, cool and inviting with a good playlist of reagae songs. The best seafood restaurant i've ever been. Could'nt be better!
It took a full hour to be served our first service despite the fact that we had no aperitif and we had ordered soup... how long does it take to ladle a bowl of soup?! 3 our of the 5 mains were so over-salted that they could not be finished (rabbit and trout). The rabbit was dry. The maple syrup pie dessert was not sweet and the crust was heavy. A very disappointing experience, unfortunately.
We remember it having a variety of oysters.
That was not the case.
It’s about $3 per oyster and no happy hour.
Also the online menu is completely different from the actual menu they have at the restaurant which basically we consider false advertising.
The place was empty at 2 pm, we were the only ones...and somewhat surprised at the slow service.
Not bathroom accessible for handicapped people for it isn’t all the up on the second floor.
Three cooked oysters for $16.
Not a big range of choices for food and the healers wine is $42.
So I do not recommend for what it is and it was not what we were expecting or excited about.
Disappointing. Recommended by a foodie friend-of-a-friend in Toronto. Oysters and service great to start. Two waiters (one responsible for delivery of food) The deliverer tried to give us drinks and food that belonged elsewhere. The main course (bass) arrived while we were still eating oysters. We sent it back and emphasized we wanted freshly cooked fish. The bass was mushy. We felt the menu was overpriced.
The food was fantastic, but I was a little put off by the poor service. My server basically ignored me all night. After being seated, it took about 20 minutes to even order a drink. In my opinion, the restaurant didn't appear overly busy to the point where server neglect could be understandable. Very disappointing, especially given the quality of the food.
