The food was overly salty- to the point where one dish was inedible (and comped by the manager). The pecans in the strawberry field salad were walnuts- which caused a reaction. Our server was distracted and never checked on us so we couldn’t remedy any of the food allergies Sue’s until it was time to pay. Overall a disappointing experience from a favorite place. The Waltham NYAJ delivered better every thing.

I enjoy Joe’s usually but this trip was disappointing due to poor customer service. The Jambalaya was paltry and unattractive. I told the server and he sent “the manager” who didn’t seem to care. He sent over a separate plate with sliced sausage in barely cooked tomato sauce.

Bummed that no brunch option for Mother’s Day but, we forged ahead. Two of five meals came out either over cooked or wrong. Manager was super apologetic and took the meals on the bill. Good bread and lots of it. Meals were overall good.

Service was really bad this visit. It took 15 minutes just for someone to come over and acknowledge us. So it took at least 20 minutes to just get water! Then the food wasn’t that great- I asked for my fries well done and they showed up greasy, soggy, and pale. I asked for new ones and they delivered delicious crisp fries. I asked for my burger well done and half of it was kind of rare, it didn’t make sense how it got cooked that way. Also, we were never offered bread and oil in the beginning!

The shrimp and chicken poke bowl was excellent! I found that the teryaki salmon with mango fried rice was over-salted, and not as enjoyable as I had expected. As always, the focaccia bread was fantastic! However the dip would've benefited from more olive oil. The key lime pie was tasty, but the crust was overdone and hard to cut.

We went for Sunday evening dinner. The restaurant was busy and, as at many places these days, somewhat short staffed. However, our server was outstanding. Everything we ordered came out perfect and in a very timely way. She really hustled and went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right.

We enjoyed our meal: chicken dumpling appetizer (shared), grilled cauliflower steak with salad and rice with quinoa for me, and a cheeseburger and fries for my husband. My salad, served with the cauliflower steak was missing the feta cheese mentioned in the menu description. While tasty and prepared to our liking, everything was far more salty than we are used to, as we rarely cook or use salt at home. I wish restaurants in general would consider how salt can be used sparingly and effectively without making it raise your blood pressure.

The food was very good as it pretty much always is. Our drinks from the bar were also very good. Our only complaint is that we ordered an appetizer, but our main meal came out but no appetizer. We told the person delivering the food that we were supposed to have an appetizer and a manger came over but at that point we didn't want the appetizer as our food would have gotten cold. Despite the mix-up we had a very good dinner and the restaurant's attention to cleaning the tables, menus etc. made us feel comfortable eating there. We liked that there was plexiglass separating the tops of the booths from the adjacent booths.

We really enjoyed our NYAJ dinner last night. Both of us ordered the tuna poke bowl. It was hearty and delicious - the sauce is really flavorful and had a little zip. It's one of my favorite dishes, especially when I'm trying to keep the calories down.

We will likely not dine here again. I get that many restaurants are struggling for staff and service might be slower these days, but there is no excuse for unprofessional behavior and that is what we got today. One of the best parts of dining at Not Your Average Joe’s is the bread with that wonderful dip. Our server asked if we wanted it and then never brought it. We had to ask the folks who brought our food out to get the bread/dip. The food was not worth the price, my dish was cold, but the worst part about the evening was the unfriendly and obvious poor attitude of our waiter.

Bread was stale, cold clam chowder, burnt chicken in my salad, and extremely thick greasy batter on the fish and chips.

Food and service very good. It’s a pretty wide open type restaurant so as it fills up the noise level increases but not crazy or bothersome. I would go again. It’s a solid performer with consistently good food.

Great place! The food is great, we both had the encrusted haddock, excellent. Our server, colleen was excellent also, very friendly and efficient.
