Keep giving this place another chance. Will not be going back. $14 for calamari...mostly little fried shards. Had “special” on menu for chain’s anniversary. Awful. Kind enough to take it off the bill. A round of “how was your dinner?” Came back with a resounding “eh.” So downhill in the past couple of years.
Consistently good. Nothing is amazing, aside from maybe their bread and cheesy olive oil at the beginning. Great they take reservations, menu has something for everyone, think is ideal for lunch or a drink at the bar.
Had a wonderful meal at Not Your Average Joe's. The waitress was fantastic and the food as always delicious.
Good food, good service. Atmosphere- cold (air conditioning up high), and loud music playing. Hostesses do not use good judgment when seating diners. This is the second time hostess has attempted to seat two people in a curved booth that seats 8!
Had a party of 11. Few food screw ups as my salad was missing several items as well as a few of my coworkers. Slow service overall.
Kelsey at the front desk was very welcoming and made sure our experience was great!
A great place, service and food, but I was disappointed there were no specials.
We have been to this NYAJ many times. I would say 60% of the time the Service is good to very good. This time it was awful.
1. Arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation. Got seated within 1-2 Minutes. Hostess was very accommodating in seating us early
2. Took about 3-4 Minutes for waitress to take our drink order. My wife is Celiac so she is gluten free. Asked the waitress for both regular bread and Gluten free roll.
3. 10 minutes later still no drinks or bread another waiter came by and asked if we were being served. I told him waitress had already taken our order, in hindsight I should have asked him to check on our bread and drinks
4. Another 10 minutes went by no drinks or bread.
5. We walked out
We were very happy with our experience. Food is always excellent. Our server Allyson was great.
Terrible! We were not even welcome inside because we had a baby carriage. We had made a reservation but despite our planning, the hostess rudely told us they couldn't accommodate us and that we would have to wait until space was available. Additionally, we were lectured on how to properly make a reservation. We decided to take our business elsewhere, to the surprise of the rude hostess who said "I just found a table, not sure what your issue is!" Clearly, the staff needs to be trained in customer service methods and strategies and should not discriminate against families. Otherwise enjoyed dining at this establishment..will not return!
The service was perfect. They were out of the wine ordered. When we asked for a second glass of the substitute, they were out of that as well. The food was not what it should have been, way below what I expect from this restaurant.
Tasty & delicious
Wasn't that impressed this time around. Here are a few things from the visit:
-Ordered a side of roasted brussel sprouts w/ my food. I received steamed brussel sprouts that tasted like horseradish.
-Father-in-law ordered the spaghetti squash bolognese which was extremely bland. I also think there is general confusion around this dish, since most bolognese dishes have meat. Best way I can describe it would be spaghetti squash w/ unseasoned ratatouille on top.
-Wife ordered super crunch salad, and it was underdressed w/ poor presentation.
-Ordered a grilled cheese at the start of the meal for toddler, and the waiter confused it with grilled chicken. After correcting him we ended up with grilled cheese and grilled chicken on the bill.
The restaurant otherwise is very nice including the staff and they have the best bread. The food unfortunately fell a bit short this time, perhaps it was the chef at lunch time?
Excellent meal with fair prices. Extensive beer, wine, and drink menu. The server was excellent and food was prepared quickly. I had the Vietnamese Samon, which was wonderful.
Ahi Tuna salad was a little small for the money, in my opinion
Love, love, love. There isn't much else to say, this place is an absolute favorite.
Had a res through Open Table and went in for lunch. 2 people at the front one of whom was on the phone. The other hostess ignores my wife and starts asking the group of business men who came in after her how many. When my wife mentions that she was there before them the hostess looks at the men and rolls her eyes. Real professional. Sat outside which was nice except for the wind as there is nothing to block it on any side. Food was okay other than the soup being lukewarm. Service was great which helped make up for the rest. Truthfully, go across the parking lot to Del Frisco’s Grille. Much better food and atmosphere.
A comfortable booth, and enough choices for us each to order a different entree made for a pleasant evening out. We were promptly seated at our reservation time, and our waitstaff was excellent.
We enjoyed our dinner at Not Your Average Joe's. Most of their food is great. They just need to work on their beef dishes.
We had an awesome server!! The background noise was too loud to have a conversation at a large round table
Awesome service. Great spot
Salmon for lunch was perfect.
Nice as always @ NYAJ’s
Fav place ever
Love the bread
The services was good, but the quality of the food was bad. The food must be frozen to be warmed up and served. for the amount they are charging for the food it should be cooked at the place. the taste was off and the food was cold.
Great experience, loved the special brunch menu ! Easy location to meet , right off the highway
Waitress was not friendly or visible
We made a 7:15 PM reservation and got to the restaurant at 7:05 PM We checked in at the desk and was told the wait was going to be a little bit longer. I asked to be seated in a booth. I was told we will see what we can do. There was an open booth in the restaurant from when we got there. We ended up being seated in that booth 35 minutes later. I find that to be totally unacceptable. Other than that, the service was very well. A lot of times the hostess at this location seem to have a chip on their shoulder.
We continually have problems at this restaurant. It seems that despite how empty the restaurant appears, they make you wait 10-20 minutes from the time of your reservation to be seated. Guaranteed. We had a great server but the food was pretty poor. The gluten free bun was inedible but the server went and got a fresh one. The French fries were barely warm. The Brussell's sprouts were greasy and undercooked. The quinoa bowl was a good portion but not very tasty.
Good food. Friendly staff.
Chicken was awesome.
I ordered a vegan burger and the bun was covered in butter and I think is was real hamburger
We had the most delightful server. She was smiling and friendly. Food was really tasteful and plenty of it too. Noise level is a bit loud, but that didn't dampen our outing. All-in-all, even though I live in New York, I will be back!
Favorite place. This place is consistent, tasty, and we always leave happy.
Food and service are always great at NYAJ. One ongoing issues always frustrates me; When the food runners deliver the food, they NEVER know who gets what dish. The scene always turns into a "food auction". It's disruptive and a problem with an obvious solution that is never implemented or seemingly considered. If the delivery of food was accurate, the dining experience would be heightened by a large margin...also, we ordered an Ice Cream Sundae which consisted of three rounded scoops of low grade vanilla ice cream placed in a large bowl with very little chocolate, runny whipped cream (from a can) and a cherry. I have never seen such a lack of thought or imagination in the execution of an Ice Cream Sundae. The dinner tone is initially very well set at the table with the introduction of the extraordinary warm and crusty savory ciabbata bread. The experience ended on a very sour note with a Sundae that had so much promise to be exquisite finale to an otherwise exceptional meal.
Fantastic spot for a great lunch. Love the new Chicken and Shrimp rice bowl!!! All our entrees were excellent and our server was top notch! We will go back.
Server was lovely but service was incredibly slow - to the point we were just about to ask for the check for drinks and leave.
We have gone to the restaurant twice. The wait staff, food is amazing. It’s great too because you can make a reservation or call ahead. That’s huge if you have small children. Will be back real soon.
Our lunch was quiet - our server was prompt and helpful- the caprese “burger” I had was delicious
I like the diversity of the menu, which includes foods for those of us who prefer healthier choices. There are plenty of salads, fish and non-meat items. I tried the Impossible Burger (the plant-based burger). I thought it was good enough, but it did not taste like beef to me, which had been what I had read about it.
The sound level tends to be high, but we asked for a spot that would be shielded from some of the noise, and our request was honored. That helped, and the very accommodating server did have the music turned down a little too. Very appreciative of that.
Great service, great food, and a good selection of gluten free meals for the vegan in our group
