The food was good and the service attentive, but noise level was excessive - and what I thought was glass dividing our booth from that on the other side of a divider was actually fabric - which explains why I could hear in detail every word of the other party's conversation.

I always enjoy my experience at NYAJ - although when coming for brunch, it's good to keep expectations on the lower side. There aren't a lot of traditional brunch items - they have their regular menu, then French toast and eggs benedict - both are outstanding! - but if you want more options for brunch look elsewhere. Otherwise, the food and the service are always on point.

Casual restaurant with some interested options. Vegetable side dishes were good. Large menu to make everyone happy.

Wide, varied menu with many options; prices moderate to a little high for what you get (and wine per glass price a little high); went for a friend's birthday and when the server saw presents on the table she said that NYAJ provides a free dessert for birthday celebrant - that was a nice touch!

My experience didn’t turn out so positive. Not only did they not check me in when I showed up on time (prompting open table to accidentally mark me as a no show), they got my order wrong which resulted in me waiting for an abnormally long time for my happy hour buffalo wings.
I recommend retraining.

My wife and I live in the area and are regular customers. There are a ton of great menu options and everything I've tried has been delicious. The Happy Hour specials are also great, highly recommend the Buffalo Chicken Sliders and/or wings!

Good food, excellent service -- we were a group of eight seniors dining out before a play at nearby Forum Theatre. When requested, the music was turned DOWN so that we could hear each other talk at the dining table.

NYAJ has it all: staff always friendly and helpful; extensive menu with seasonal additions; comfortable sound levels even during crowded times. Most of all: each dish is almost invariably, really good. The signature treat is the focaccia bread with oil-based dipping sauce, prepared right at the table. No need to order this -- it comes automatically. Even with the countless times that I've been to NYAJ, I'm always craving that bread!

Excellent food and drinks, but it was surprisingly loud for a Sunday evening. We came earlier and I’m glad we did, because it got much busier after about an hour there. Server was good, but sometimes hard to get her attention. Would eat there again, but not when we are in a rush to get to an evening event.

Celebrated my daughter's 13th birthday on a Monday and it ended up being half off burgers and pizza. Big portions and all of our food was good.

I met an old friend for lunch, not having seen her for over three years. We had a lot of catching up to do and our waitress was content to let us talk a long time before ordering. However, at the end of the meal when we needed to leave she served tables all around us and never looked our way so it took a very, very long time to get our check.

The service is great! Carmen was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The bread, oil, and Romano cheese combo they serve before the meal was delicious. My husband had fettuccine w/ shrimp and steak and cheese egg rolls, he said it was delicious and would get again. I had the crab cakes appetizer, they were tiny but really good. The pan seared paddock wasn't anything special. It was cooked perfectly but not well seasoned. The farro risotto was surprisingly delicious

Do NOT get the crab cakes. Horrible. Nothing like Maryland crab cakes. A bunch of filler and not at all tasty. The atmosphere was good though. I'd try it again for something different.

We arrived there on time for our reservation. The hostess directed us to our table. The waitress came to take our drink order (at that time we just wanted water). She left and 15 minutes later was still gone, so we asked the hostess to please get us some water or our waitress. She went to get our waitress and 5 minutes later we still did not have service, so we left. I want you to understand that these times were not approximations, but real time. :>(

The restaurant looked more upscale than the food tasted. However the service made up for the food. We arrived and was seated right away and the server was at our table within minutes. Cynthia was attentive, polite and professional. If you are looking for low-carb, there is not much to choose from, but the Thai chicken lettuce wraps were great. I ordered the sirloin, green beans and Brussel sprouts. Sirloin was fine, they were not a steak house so, I had no real expectations. The green beans were great and the Brussel sprouts were a bit tough to get through, but tasty. I chalked the toughness up to my old man teeth not being sharp enough. Anyway, all and all it was a good experience with average food, very nice atmosphere and great service. I would definitely go back when I am not counting my carbs as much.

I have been the dining room Manager/Maitre' d' for two fine dining Italian restaurants here in the Washington area for over 30 years.
My expertise is customer service and I am a critic of service and food when we go out to eat.
At NYAJ, I enjoy the ambience, the happy hour selections and prices of both food and drink, the diversity of great food and all of this with great people working there from managers to wait staff.
Thank you very much for doing this well!

This past Sunday we went and had our Valentine's dinner and I need to give kudos to our waitress Cynthia V and to the manager Adriana. Cynthia made sure that our food was cooked to our preferences, and took very good care of us!
I also made a reservation online with a specific request and Adriana called me back and she left her name and number so I could speak to her about my request. It actually turned out that I could not dine on the 14th and came at lunchtime on Sunday and met Adriana!

The food was good but service was slow! There were 12 of us and one of our guest still didn't have their dinner when the rest of us were more than half way through. I had to get up and ask someone else to please check again. The biggest problem was...one of our guest has a gluten allergy, the restaurant had a gluten free menu which is one of the reasons we chose there to eat. She became very ill after eating her food and cried the whole way home. I cannot say I will eat at this location again. I will stick to Gaithersburg we have not had issues like this before there.

We had a party of ten for a reunion. Service was great despite people strolling in for 30 minutes. Food and choices were wonderful. Loved the jambalaya and Cobb salad. Portion sizes big enough to share. Price was totally reasonable. Waiter even took the effort to bill everyone separately. Bartender came by and did some magic tricks! I will absolutely eat there again. BTW, parking in busy downtown Silver Spring is just across the street.
