Great spot for birthdays and group celebrations! Excellent food variety - something for everyone.
We were weekly customers of the Not Your Average Joe's in Landsdowne, and in fact one of our kids worked there for a period of time, but since that restaurant closed and we moved our loyalty to the Reston location, we have been sorely disappointed. The menu is stale, the service is horrible, including the consistently rude welcome at the front desk! You might be busy for a while but you can't rest on your laurels. This place will soon move to the dust-heap of failed restaurants because the ingenuity, genuine customer service, warm atmosphere, creative specials and overall friendliness of the Joe's Landsdowne are not consistent with the Reston location. If you loved Landsdowne Joe's, you'll be let down with the Reston location.
They have a great waitstaff! Our waiter, Arsi, was attentive and had perfect timing. The dipping sauce for the bread that was served within minutes oof us sitting down is positively addictive! We had the cheesteak egg rolls which are amazing and one of my very favorites! Crunchy wrap and tender steak and cheese - you could make a meal of just them! They are sooo good. I had the seafood risotto from the Valentines Day menu and it was delicious- the scallops and shrimp were grilled to perfection and the risotto was aldente and flavorful. My husband had the chicken parmesan and it disappeared with great enthusiasm,!
I love this restaurant. We will back frequently!
It was awesome
We were dismayed when Not Your Average Joe's Leesburg (Loudoun) location closed. This was our first trip to the Reston store. It was Valentine's day, and the place was crammed to capacity, so forgiven for what no doubt was more noise than usual (!). The quality of the food was excellent (we had the Valentine's special Seafood dish. Drinks were generous (two martinis) and our waiter even hand stuffed blue cheese in my olives - because they didn't have any! Super Service!!
Since we were there from 1:15 until 5:30 pm, I would say they were very patient and accommodating. We had the lunch special - 1/2 sandwich & salad. They even refilled our bread basket & oil dip.
Had salmon and Brussel sprouts. Salmon overdone and dry. Sprouts way over cooked. They should be bright green, not olive color. Food is normally okay there.
Disappointed with service from the minute we arrived with the hostess' to the server and not to mention the food. This was the 2nd chance we gave this place and we'll, probably the last.
Good service and nice choices
We were in the back room which was nice because it was quieter but it seemed like we were kind of forgotten on occasion.
Also this isn’t really part of the service but I guess it has to do with the dining experience, the table that we were seated at was pretty high and the chairs seemed like they were missing a seat bottom because we all felt like the seat cushion was sinking through the chair frame so for the shorter people, the table came up to their collarbone and made us all feel like little kids at a big table.
Very good food and value. Becoming one of our favorites.
Our daughter is dairy and gluten free and they always do a great job with her meal.
Our favorite go to.
Everything was perfect. I enjoyed the super crunch Salad at lunch that I suggested to my husband the we order take out super crunch salads for dinner. Service was great, even rhaough there was a busy lunch crowd. Will use as go to lunch meeting restsurant.
Service was weak, food OK.
Overall, very good. Food excellent, service outstanding. We will be back!
Went with friends during dinner rush on a Saturday night. They love this place. Second time we went with them, and figured I would give it a second chance after the first time. Our server was slammed - several large parties. He was truly trying hard to keep up. Felt bad for him. The youngest in the group received the wrong order (placed wrong by the server) and I shared an appetizer which was pretty good and a panko chicken sandwich that was not good. The panko coating was partially not cooked and partially charred. We did not complain or request a fix. Based on my prior visit - neither of these would have made a difference. Not likely to go back unless it was just to meet the friends for a drink.
Food is good service is great. I don’t write long reviews so you get what you get.
We were well taken care of and service was outstanding
Our waitress' name was Tina and she was fabulous! She was very attentive and answered all our questions.
Wait staff was very attentive and took care of ALL the needs of the ten at our table, including kids. Everyone was served at same time, other wait staff or kitchen staff delivered dishes. It was Grandma's birthday, and her dessert was complimentary and came with a candle!! Generous portions of food and specialty drinks.
We've been here several times. The food quality varies. I have ordered things that were delicious and then ordered them again and they were average at best. Today I had the Superfood Salad and it was great. Definitely seemed differently prepared than last time I ordered it, in a good way. So I have the feeling that the food varies by who is in the kitchen etc. They have generous pours on their wine.
I used to love NYAJ. Unfortunately, the portion sizes have drastically decreased. I will not be quick to head back - not much bang for your buck. The only saving graces is their delicious bread and dipping sauce!
The food wasn’t great. Our bread didn’t come out till after our entrees. Service was all around extremely slow.
I have been here three times and all have been very nice. Thanks.
Excellent food and wonderful service for our waiter!
This is a great place for catching up with friends in a non-rushed environment. Delightful choices and friendly, accommodating wait staff.
Service was so-so but the food was great as always. I got home feeling annoyed however. We went for a friend’s birthday and another friend brought cupcakes to celebrate. Without telling us, NYAJ’s charged us $25 for bringing the cupcakes into the restaurant. I can understand they would rather sell us dessert, but they should have told us there would be a $25 charge to eat the cupcakes there.
Great food, great service (thanks Larry), great atmosphere.
Great service, wonderful atmosphere and good food.
I had a reservation and was taken on time. It was wonderful.
Attendance was down due to an arctic blast of cold weather. Good for got a reservation on short notice. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and delicious food. Had a sweet potato Chorizo soup that was so good I got 2 orders to go for this week lunches.
Great food, reasonable price and great service. I will definitely go back.
I thought the spaghetti squash bolognese was a big fail. We were expecting a tomato based sauce not a mound of spaghetti squash surrounded by SO MUCH sauteed carrots.
I will say that I am a fan of the succotash couscous.
I can't say enough good things about Not-Your-Average-Joes in Reston. They always have a very extensive menu and very fresh and well-prepared menu items. Seafood items are always a sure bet, but for winter time they have a comfort food menu so I tried their Pot Roast. To top it all, NYAJ offered 15% off your group bill if you are a furloughed federal worker! I took advantage of that, so thanks NYAJ!
Again, NYAJs hits it out of the park with the addition of GF soups like New England Clam Chowder to their GF menu. Thanks, Joe!
Very fresh and farm to table style food. Good menu. Good waitstaff, overall a solid dining experience.
Had a group of 9. table was ready for us when we arrived and service was excellent considering such a large group.
Not Your Average Joe's in Reston is consistently reliable. The food, service, and atmosphere are always good. They accommodate my work team of 12 very well. We have both lunch and happy hour here regularly.
For a moderately busy lunch, I wasn't impressed. My food had hair in it, was mildly warm, and seemed like it had been under a heat lamp for a while. We had a party of eight and while I appreciate trying to bring the food out at the same time, doing so only degraded the experience for all.
