We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. We liked that the menu was varied and had brunch and lunch options. I had a Bloody Mary that was not the worst I’ve had, but close. The bacon add-on was cold and coated in clumped fat. The drink was diluted and the house mix was bland. The special soup was very good, but the everything bagel smoked salmon flatbread was doughy and soggy. My husband asked for horseradish for his sandwich, and it arrived after he was done. The waitress didn’t bother to ask My husband what size beer he wanted, so automatically brought the larger more expensive one. It was not busy, but clearly fake in her offers of help for anything. If we need a fast option while out in the area, we may try again, but not on a Sunday when staff are uninterested in their few tables.
Enjoyed our Octoberfest meal. Service provided by Val outstanding.
Our server Indy (#448 according to my receipt) was fantastic.
I had an early business lunch with a new acquaintance. The menu looked great but we decided just to have starters. We had the Thai chicken lettuce wraps which was really enough for an entree and we shared that along with an Ahi Tuna wonton starter. That was delicious. Both of them were delicious and enough for entrees but we share them. Service was good the place is busy so I would suggest making a reservation and this was Thursday afternoon for lunch at 11:30 by 12:30 it was packed. What does that tell you? That it's popular for good reason.
Service was a little slower than expected for a work day lunch out of the office. Food was very good though.
Good value & unexpected delicious & delightful
Cheese Steak Egg Rolls, Jambalaya & Peanut Butter Things are must try! 👍👍
Cool place with great service and very tasty food. Waiter was extremely attentive and seeking
approval that the food was prepared to our liking. What’s not to like about this place.
The food was good but the waiter disappeared after giving us the menus and water - had to wait a long time to order
So full disclosure we were regulars at NYAJ Leesburg before it closed in 2027.
Honestly the seasonal menu a year plus later was uninspired. Less menu choices . Our meals were satisfactory, not outstanding. Requiem for a favorite.
Everything was amazing. Food, service, atmosphere. Even got a table visit from Chef Ingrid. We can't wait to go back. Alot more on the menu that we are dying to try.
Food and service are of a higher quality than most restaurants in the area.
Bar is really nice, too-- well trained bartenders. Selection of whiskies and wines is extensive and well thought out.
Not Your Average Joe's always hits the spot with extremely well prepared dishes and fresh ingredients in all of their menu items. You can always count on their seafood items as well as the comfort food. This was the last day for their summer BBQ specials and the fried chicken was great. Key Lime pie was excellent too. Not a bad way to end Labor Day!
We have been to Joe’s many times however this was not a positive experience. Beginning with the bathrooms that were dirty and had no soap ( how does the kitchen staff wash their hands without soap? ) The appetizers came after the entrée and the hamburgers were very raw.
We used to like it better. We diner there two nights ago, and noticed that the service appears to have dropped off dramatically (we have always had great servers) - it took awhile to be greeted, to get drinks, and to get both our appetizer and our dinner. It isn't just the server, it is the overall sense of urgency of the restaurant. From being seated, it took about 10 minutes to order drinks, and another 10-12 to get them. The appetizer took almost 20 minutes, and we finished it 10-15 minutes before dinner hit the table. It was busy, but there wasn't a wait, and the dining room wasn't full - so it wasn't that busy.
We will likely stay away for awhile and hope they improve.
More like Below Average Joe’s ... food was oily, greasy; description of Haddock didn’t mention that it was breaded (which it was), and the description of another fish didn’t mention that it had bacon (which it did) ... if we had known, we wouldn’t have ordered ... and when we mentioned these concerns, the server made no attempts to address them nor offered any refunds. This was also our 10-year anniversary, notes in Open Table, but no mention of that either.
Waiter wasn’t attentive- had to ask a few times for water and drinks were weak.
Service is friendly and professional. I like everything about Not Your Average Joes except the food. I think it's average and could be so much better. I had a new featured salad: watermelon, burrata cheese and tomato over arugula. Unfortunately, there was little watermelon and cheese but lots of tomato.
Good food and service, although a bit pricey. Overall I would recommend this place.
Great service and food. A bit overpriced on some items but I would definitely go back.
We enjoyed your Lansdowne location- but Reston is growing on us. We’ve had good service, great food. It all keeps us coming back!
I asked specifically if the Chicken Enchiladas were made with white meat. I was told that they were. They were not - they were made using dark meat. Had I known that, I wouldn’t have ordered them. And the tortilla shells were soggy and gooey - the whole meal was off. In hindsight, I should’ve complained and gotten something else, but that’s not my style. If the manager had come by our table I would’ve said something though.
An above average suburban chain. Good food with very attentive service.
We had a very pleasant dining experience. The food was delicious, the service was spot on, and the selection on the kid’s menu made it easy to find something for everyone in the family to eat. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with the industrial elements, colorful accents, and soft Edison bulb lights. The only minor downside is that our table on the bench seat felt a little close to the next table. We had to move our table so the guests next to us could comfortably exit. Would definitely dine there again!
Great staff , friendly and timely service. Good quality food , nice presentation and taste good. Excellent value for your money.
We were celebrating a birthday. Our server was very personable; timely with our drinks and checking on our order. She came back to offer us dessert which was lovely. It was the first time for 4 of us and we all thought it was a really nice place, with good food and a compatible noise level so that you could have a conversation. The person that had been there before highly recommended the happy hour.
I really enjoy this restaurant. Service is consistent, but understandably a little slow during the height of happy hour. Always friendly though. Food is delicious. Happy hour specials are some of the best in town, especially half price wine night on Wednesday.
The waiter never came back to ask how the food was or if we wanted dessert. Just dropped off the check.
Server was excellent, very well trained and food was delicious.
We went there with our family. We have to drive to Reston now that they closed the Leesburg location, so we don’t get there as often as we used to. The food was great, except the summer special of fried chicken was a bit over cooked. There was a lot of it though, so plenty to eat. Service was great, and the bread is as always our favorite.
Awesome place to dine, salad and sandwich were very good
Very good food and good service. Haven’t had a bad meal at any NYAJ’s location.
Never had a bad meal, and the service is always excellent. Very accommodating.
We like the menu, but the service was horrible AGAIN. Had to ask for tableware. Drinks came one at a time with a 10 min gap. Appetizer came late, then bread a minute later (3rd request), then entree a minute later. Entree got cold while we ate the appetizer. Water never refilled. Server disappeared after food arrived, and we eventually had to physically search to get our check. However, the food was great.
We have had service issues on at least half of our visits. We will think hard before returning.
I love their cosmos and seafood fettuccine. But, I got the mustard crusted chicken this time and very disappointed— so dry!
It seems like they either do a dish very well or poorly. Bread and garlic dip is excellent. Jambalaya was so so. Tried the arrugula and prosciutto pizza. Crust was ok, inner dough was soggy, needed more flavor. Definitely not a place to go for pizza, at least until they get better at it.
Have had their lettuce wraps in the past and they were very good. Also had the crab cake appetizer. Way too much filler. Another bust.
Didn't have any dessert. Their app is awesome. I could just pay and be done... No flagging down wait staff. Tho the waiter we had was very attentive.
I will come back for the bread and garlic dip! And to try other items on the menu.
Service was probably the worst I've experienced in a long time. Food is okay but somewhat medicore. Probably better than a typical chain restaurant but when service so bad not worth going again.
Great casual dining experience - ESPECIALLY compared to last week's experience
The temperature in the dining room was pretty warm for some reason. Average to slow service, but the food was great.
Our family enjoys eating at Joe's. The food is great, the service very good and the bread is amazing!
We were a party of 5, but showed up as a party of 6 and you quickly figured out how to accommodate....yay! 2 of the 6 have never been to NYAJ's and are now huge fans.... I warned them the bread and dip are "crack" and they loved everything!!!
